Late booking as a surprise short break to begin husband's retirement. Couldn't fault anything; so cosy and comfortable.Views were probably the best of any holiday cottage we've had ( and that's quite a few...). Log fire was a particular delight.
Hope to return for a longer stay in the near future.

We loved our stay at Tottergill Farm. Oak Cottage was beautiful.

Having read all the reviews and paid a pretty penny for 4 nights in the Lakes for November we crossed our fingers that all met our expectations.

High praise on tripadvisor can lead to high expectation - this place just doesn't disappoint.
OK so you're just a short distance from the lakes and Hadrian's wall but really we would have been happy if it had poured down during all our stay...it would have given us the excuse to stay in front of the log fire.

Everything you can think of has been thought of. We arrived and just needed to strike a match to light the lovely log burner.

I'll leave it there. If you have any queries about the cottage or area (lots of walks and to explore around Ullswater) please ask...but why not just check out their website, book and experience it for yourself.

Many thanks, L & S

Room Tip: Those with hottubs are well worth it (see their website - more are being added)

We've literally just got back from the most amazing weekend at Tottergill Farm. Our group consisted of five adults (traveling to the Lakes from Edinburgh, Leeds and Nottingham) plus our two dogs. We stayed in Tower Barn, which is a six berth property, although there are lots of options available for different groups sizes and with or without pets.

From the moment we got there I knew instantly we'd made the right decision! A very warm welcome and a spotlessly clean cottage...

At Tottergill, as well as the excellently high standard of accommodation and location, it's all about the little details...

Log fire, set up and ready to go with all the things you need to keep it burning on tap. Spotlessly clean hot-tub. Robes and slippers provided. Enclosed garden (perfect for the dogs). A kitchen equipped so well that it felt like home (although the knives were a little blunt - more to do with previous users than quality - so if you cook a lot like us just take your own). Games and books in the lounge. Huge TV with surround sound. Free and easy to use wifi. Welcome pack provided, plus drawers full of really helpful stuff (foil, cling film, freezer bags, bin bags). Dishwasher (with tablets!). Seriously well thought out and a credit to the owners for making self catering so easy!

The cottage was more than spacious enough for all of us. It never felt for one second like you didn't have your own space if you needed it. The bedrooms were huge, linen and towels fresh and clean. TVs and iPod docks in all bedrooms.

The underfloor heating, central heating and fire made it soooo cosy, just check the thermostats are set to your ideal temperature, because after a few hours they revert back to a low energy-saving setting.

As for location. It's remote, but stunning. The views from the farm out towards Carlisle are just fabulous and the walks / things to do in the area are great - just make sure you pack your wellies!!! Good range of convenience and local stores in nearby Brampton. Only downside for us is that the local pub (which is easily walkable) isn't dog friendly, but there is a garden with tables and chairs outside weather permitting.

All in all, an absolutely fabulous weekend had by all. Just google cottages, lake district, hot tub and it should come up!

Thank you Tottergill Farm!

Room Tip: The website is honest and fair. There is a brochure with specific details on each cottage which will...

An idyllic spot with fantastic views. Ash Cottage forms a part of a redundant farm buildings conversion offering several well designed, modern self catering cottages finished and maintained to a very high standard of accommodation which we found scrupulously clean. We found that the communication with Stephen and Joyce when booking and during our stay was excellent. It is our intention to return as we and our dog were made most welcome.
We found Tottergill a superb base for exploring the fells, the Roman Wall and undertaking family research at the nearby Carlisle Records Office. We also enjoyed our visits to the local pub, the Duke of Cumberland where we found good food, ale and company.

We have no hestitation in recommending the Tottergill Farm Cottages.

Room Tip: The cottages provide a range of accommodation, which should fit everyones needs. I would suggest tha...

What a fantastic place to stay. It's the little things that make the difference. Arriving after a long journey with a two year old in the back of the car and finding tea and coffee and homemade cakes set out on the side ready, a pint of milk in the fridge, and a full kettle so all you needed to do was switch it on, plus a log fire already set up and just needing a match. Our only regret is that we weren't able to stay for longer.

The views are amazing. Stephen and Joyce were very welcoming, and despite every cottage having occupants, we felt like there was no one around us, and didn't see anyone - just what we wanted.

The hot tub was fantastic, we were lucky enough to be able to use it every night of our stay. Now we just have to figure out how to afford one for home!

All in all we had a lovely stay here and we will definately be back again and hopefully for longer. Our two year old loved "the other house" and still keeps talking about it fondly, as do we.

Thanks Stephen and Joyce - this was our first proper holiday as a family, and we couldn't have asked for better!

We recently stayed at the Watson Cottage at Tottergill Farm to celebrate our ruby wedding anniversary with our older children and their partners. We were delighted with the accommodation and the stunning views. The decoration was to a high standard and the little touches make all the difference such as the flowers, chocolates, home made flap jack and champagne. Stephen and Joyce even popped round to put up a banner that our daughter had sent and arranged the confetti in heart shapes around the main living space.

The surroundings are beautiful and the hot tub was superb (even in October). There are plenty of footpaths straight from the farm which make this a great location to explore on foot; but it would be useful to pack some wellies in the winter.

It was also useful to have a bedroom on the same floor as the living space as the cottage was split over two levels - this is ideal for someone with a disability.

We would definitely return to Tottergill!
