My husband and I stayed at Physis July 2011 before they were officially opened. I had been watching progress of improvements on Facebook. I was excited to visit again. We were amazed at all that Jeremy and Emily had done. My husband was especially impressed with the night lighting in the gardens. It was magical! I appreciated the help Emily gave us in planning the rest of our trip. She was very knowledgeable on transportation and places to stay. Emily suggested a visit to Bocas del toro Panama which we thoroughly enjoyed. You will not meet nicer hosts or have a cleaner beautiful room. I am now trying to figure out when we can visit again.

Room Tip: Room 3 has outside shower which is very private. My husband and I enjoyed the shower and it also kee...

My husband and I stayed in the honeymoon suite for 8 nights. We did not want to leave. The room was clean and comfortable. The grounds were absolutely beautiful with lots of places to chill and enjoy the scenery. We looked forward to breakfast every morning. The owners, Emily and Jeremy, gave us great recommendations on things to do and places to eat everyday. It was an epic week of eating. We will be back!!

Emily and Jeremy run a top notch B&B in Puerto Viejo. The attention to detail was outstanding. The grounds were immaculately groomed with high quality bedding and facilities in the rooms. We rented the Honeymoon Suite for 3 nights. The room is a little small, yes, but it was SO NICE. The shower is huge with an overhead rain shower head and plush towels. I really liked all the wood throughout the room. They had reggae music playing in the background and beautiful water fountains throughout the property and offered a welcome drink upon arrival. It rained a lot one of the mornings so we just spent the day lounging in the hammocks enjoying the garden because it was so beautiful. Emily and Jeremy are so sweet and gave us excellent dinner and beach recommendations. You must rent some bikes and go to Punta Uva beach for the day then head to dinner at Jungle Love. After breakfast one morning we caught site of the neighborhood Sloth chillin on a telephone poll. The restaurant next door, Johannas, is super good local cuisine. We ate there three times. The B&B is close to town so you could easily walk down the street to take a yoga class at OM or go to the beach. We loved it there!

Arriving at Physis you have the feeling staying with family or good friends. Emily and Jeremy are indeed excellent hosts, having obviously invested not just effort and resources in this place but also motivation and heart. From here you can conveniently reach the beautiful beaches around Puerto Viejo, although a car or a bicycle would be advisable, as most places are not in walking distance (depending on your definition of this term). If you never have been in Puerto Viejo, Jeremy will provide excellent options for visiting or dinning. All services required by a traveller are available at Physis or can easily be reached. We stayed for three nights at the honeymoon suite and although it rained most of the days (as usual in Caribbean), my wife and me enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Honeymoon Suite, nice and somewhat apart from the other rooms.

The B&B is gorgeous, the welcome drink was delicious! The air conditioner worked well, thank goodness, but the room was tiny and the bathroom even tinier. I haven't slept in a double bed for years, and it was very crowded for 2 people, although the bed/sheets were very comfortable. Be prepared! The breakfasts were wonderful, and Jeremy & Emily were terrific hosts! The landscaped grounds are beautiful and conducive to a relaxing and very enjoyable stay! Free internet was great too!

When we arrived at Physis, we were WOWED!! The B&B is absolutely beautiful & immaculate! Our welcome drinks were deeeeelishious and Emily & Jeremy couldn't have been more informative of the area. We stayed for a week there and enjoyed a delicious breakfast made by Emily every morning including fresh fruit from the area. The rooms were spotless, bedding was from Pottery Barn, clean and luxurious towels were provided. Anything we needed we just had to ask. Emily & Jeremy were a pleasure to talk with, and of course Gizmo, Vino and Lucy were entertaining. All of their highly recommended adventures, restaurants and beaches were wonderful. They were both always available to answer any questions we had and to make our trip so memorable! Being in Puerto Viejo was a good central point for many of our excursions. The travel was long from San Jose but once we arrived at Physis, we were so glad we chose this B&B. It was perfect in every way! We rented bikes and traveled to Manzanelo for the day, whitewater rafted, canopy toured, met a BreBre family, indigenous to the area and learned a lot from them and enjoyed a traditional lunch with them. After our daily adventures we looked forward to returning to Physis to relax in their many hammocks and seating areas, enjoy the beauty around, look for birds & monkeys in the trees and have a signature cocktail made by Jeremy! We highly recommend Physis B&B without hesitation. It was a FABULOUS trip we all enjoyed! Thank you Emily & Jeremy!

Room Tip: My daughter and I shared a bed in the cozy Aqua Room. There was an a/c, safe, tv, shower & doub...

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

Our family stayed at Physis Caribbean B&B for 5 nights in July 2013 and it was perfect for us. The grounds are beautifully maintained, the room was cleaner than any other hotel we had stayed at in Costa Rica, and the owners (Emily & Jeremy) were extremely nice and prepared an excellent breakfast every day before we headed out for fun.

Starting with our arrival, there was parking available for our rental car and we were instantly greeted by the owners who had wonderful complimentary "welcome" drinks in hand for us! Just what we needed! :-D We then unpacked our car and were really impressed by the extensive wood and beautiful relaxation spots all around Physis. This included hammocks, benches, and chairs that later in our stay my wife found perfect for catching up on her favorite Kindle book.

We stayed in the separate room near the back and loved how clean the room was, that it had satellite TV (although we only turned it on once), the very well working A/C, stocked mini fridge, and spacious hot shower - especially after coming from our previous hotel in Tortuguero which was very rustic and had no A/C!

The owners helped us with ideas on where to go each day based on how the weather was looking which was nice. We had 4 days of sun and 2 days with some pretty good refreshing rains. My wife and son went zip lining and preferred it to the zip lining we did the previous week near Guanacaste. We also spent ample time at multiple beaches and took along rented snorkel gear and boogie boards from Physis. Or son enjoyed the Jaguar Rescue Center animals and making chocolate and then eating it at the Cocoa Museum and it was nice to be able to rent the 2 beach cruiser bikes with baskets from Physis which we used to explore PV and get snacks at the local grocery store just down the road.

Right next door to Physis is Restaurant Johanna where we conveniently ate dinner and had great CR food. We also enjoyed a few other restaurants around PV and all the meals were very good. Eat at Malbec for an awesome steak dinner!

Puerto Viejo was the last town we stayed in on our 2 week CR vacation and we are so glad we stayed at Physis! We cannot wait to return some day. We will miss the owners Emily & Jeremy and their lovely pets, Gizmo, Vida, and Lucy.

Room Tip: We had the separate room in the back and it was perfect size for the 4 of us with the pullout bed
