“Best restaurant in the area. We loved it !”
We just came back from one of the most wonderful places we've been. It's kind of hidden and we're glad about that but at the same time we would like somehow ( so we don't feel
selfish) to share this experience with everybody. We've been at La Costa de
Papito in the East coast of Costa Rica, a few miles South of the exotic town of Puerto
Viejo. We were in one of the wonderful 12 bungalows of the small complex that not only has a great restaurant with live local music twice a week ("
Papito!") but a massage and beauty parlor. Eddie Ryan and his wife
Ausie have spent the last 15 years building the place. Every table and bed frame and chairs and walls have being build with local trees or rescued floating wood. It's architecturally amazing! The beach is just cross the street, a 2' walk ! Great waves for the surfers in one side and pleasant waters to relax and swim on the other. And in the back of the property is where the jungle starts. The real jungle with all the sounds a jungle gives. We were woken up every day by 5 in the morning by the "howler monkeys" that live close by and during day and night you have the sound of hundreds of exotic, colorful birds you see going from tree to tree. This is our idea of what paradise is. The only problem is that once there, you don't want to leave. It's like you've found a new family there, the people at the front desk, the maids, the bartenders, the waiters, the
