“Magnificent Mulberry Tree”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2012

Was looking for somewhere in the area to stay on business last minute and found The Mulberry Tree via Tripadvisor - am so glad I did! The exterior of the building doesn't do the place justice. The twin room was impeccably styled with two very comfortable double beds rather than singles. The rooms are accessed by a fairly steep (and impressively lit) staircase but assistance with my luggage was offered without hesitation when I was shown to my room. The staff here are exceptional, from the booking process, to check-in, food service etc. The food was without fault and the delicious breakfasts more than ample. The interior of the bar and restaurant is comfortable, cosy and classy. The town was within walking distance with the usual facilities such as banks, a pub, cafe's and a small selection of shops. My one night stay offered good value for money compared with other options in the area and if I didn't live so far away, I would be back for dinner regularly.

We had a wonderful stay at the Mulberry Tree. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean, with an amazing bathroom. We had dinner at the restaurant which I could not fault, food and wine excellent. Will definately be back soon.

Four of us enjoyed an excellent meal with just the right level of service, helpful but not intrusive. It was a hard to choose from menu as everything looked great. Had the pork belly and it was the best I have ever had. The stylish interior is spacious with plenty of room between tables. Evening rounded off with a hilarious ride home with a joke telling taxi driver who was great fun. A marvellous night.

Really excellent place - nice atmosphere, nicely detailed with helpful friendly staff and incredible value given the completeness of the offer.

This is a perfect Boutique hotel. We stayed in room 6 which is spacious, extremely comfortable king size bed and a large 42” plasma tv. The bathroom was enormous with large bath and separate shower. Quality of fixtures and fittings and furnishings is of the highest standard with beautiful decor and lighting. Despite being at the front of the hotel there was no noise from the road.
We had a family lunch in the restaurant to celebrate my mother’s 91st birthday. Choice on the menu was excellent as was the wine list. Food was beautifully presented with good portion size and service very friendly but not intrusive.
The bar that evening was buzzing with a lovely atmosphere.
Breakfast the next morning was also excellent quality.
Service from all of the staff could not be faulted especially Phillip
We have stayed in many boutique hotels around the world and this is definitely one of the best.

An unexpected treat at this comfortable, welcoming boutique hotel. The room was comfortable with king size bed and despite being over the bar, very quiet. One minor point, the bathroom was not very warm as there was no radiator in it! We had a warm welcome and an immediate response to our request to change the original room we had been allocated. Breakfast was terrific! I would certainly recommend the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs - just make sure you are hungry! We will certainly return here when we are next in the area. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening as we were visiting family but the menu looked great.

This is exactly what I want from a modern boutique hotel. Set in a renovated hotel/public house, the entrance is split between a modern public bar, the small restaurant and a corridor up to the rooms. Rooms are perfect with wood floors, big king size beds, white linen and a modern tiled bathroom with large bath and shower. Minimal but modern boutique furnishings and very clean. Restaurant is very good. We had the pork belly, which is possibly the best I've had and an excellent ribeye steak, and also an amazing Cromer crab starter. Only slight miss was half bottle of Champagne was so-so, and I've had better desert wines for the price. However, I loved the vibe here. Service is friendly and attentive, but laid back enough to make you relax. Come down to the bar and order and drink and you can take it back to your room. Same with food. We had a one year old with us, which can be difficult but was made very comfortable. Bar is also bustling and nice to hang out in on a Friday and Saturday night when we were there. They only have 5 rooms I think, so they have everything really well covered. If we come back to this part of the world then this will be top of my list.
