This guesthouse-restaurant was a great find. We contacted SFR directly after reading the reviews on this site. We were not disappointed. Our room no. 2 was very spacious, had a very comfortable king size bed, and was surprisingly quiet. Terje, the owner and the Incredibly friend and competent staff go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and our stay a pleasant one. We rented a motorbike from them and since we wanted to get out early gave us the key the night before.

The SFR restaurant deserves its own review. Terje found himself a great cook who cooks up the best green curry I've had but does western dishes equally well. Prices are reasonable. There is a very wide selection to choose from.

The owner was very good at arranging airport pickup and sending us back. You can trust that you're not getting over charged. I liked the free wifi and cable TV with CNN, BBC, Fox News and more (we don't have cable at home in Penang, so appreciated the news channels).

Thank you Terje, Anunya and all the staff at Southern Fried Rice. This guest house makes you feel at home the moment you arrive. We stayed for 5 nights and the staff helped us choose several day trips and even rented us a scooter for a couple of days and gave us some hot tips for great beaches (and quiet for Phuket!) to visit. We ate at the restaurant every day which is unusual for us as we like to explore but the food was that good and reasonably priced that it wasn`t a choice at all. Our room (6) was really large, quiet, great air con and excellent wifi coverage (another free service!). Thank you once again and I would recommend this guest house to anyone staying in Phuket who doesn`t want all the noise and disturbances which come with a Patong hotel.

I spent three nights at this friendly and unpretentious place before and after a diving trip to the Similan Islands. I had chosen the Southern Fried Rice based on the previous reviews on Tripadvisor and can only confirm the positive impression of fellow travelers. My room (nr 6) was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed, and everybody at the hotel was really nice - food was also great (try the Southern Fried Rice!). One of the three nights you could hear life music from one of the neighbouring bars, but even then sleeping with earplugs was not a problem. I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed in Southern fried Rice for a few days in July 2008. and we had a wonderfull time there. The owner of the place is a great man. The staff is wonderfull and the hotel is only a few minutes walk from the beach. the rooms are spacious, you have a private bathroom, aircon and free internet in the hotel.
The atmosphere is relaxed..the laundry service in the hotel is good, just like the restaurant, great food for good prices!!!
If we come back to thailand we would definitely stay there again!
