“Not as expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

After going through so many good reviews about this hotel we'd decided to end our trip to Thailand staying on it. Maybe our expectation was just too high, maybe bad luck. Here some pros and cons about this resort:
Pros: beautiful decor in the room, nice room, very clean; beautiful garden; very friendly staff
Cons: no welcome drink; no complimentary beach chairs; late check-in; restaurant opens at 3pm for lunch; kettle in the room took forever to boil (gave up); air conditioner was noisy, dripped water and would go on and off making loud noises and leaving the room unbearably hot at night; got the worst room, 113 (at least it seemed), which was next to the car park, cars and vans coming and going in the middle of the night disturbing our sleep, not private, couldn't open curtains cause the room was just on the passage to restaurant (very disappointing); 25 min walk to kata beach which was ok but have to cross a very busy road; very steep road to get to the hotel.

As I said, maybe we just weren't luck enough in this hotel, maybe if we had stayed in another room it would've been better. There are other option with this price range. I seriously don't know why there are so many satisfied guests according to reviews.

Room Tip: I don't recommend room 113 (next to car park)

Boomerang Village Resort is really good. The place is very original, well maintained and very clean. The rooms were very clean and spacious rooms have everything you need with air conditioning, fridge, kettle with complimentary coffee and tea. The staff is really nice and friendly. They are always willing to help in anything you need. Thank you so much all the staff and I hope to return again!

This is one of the best Resort i have stayed in. Although it is a bit far from the beach but the resort is vey well maintained. The rooms are far more better than any 4 star located in the same location, we stayed at the suite on the first day then shifted to a superior one next day. It turned out to be a better than expected. An overall excellent stay i would say all about this Resort. Resort has a small but a nice pool. The whole landscape is truly magnificent and worth appreciating. Not too far from Kata Beach.

Room Tip: Suiting your budget, all rooms are quite good, the ones on the hilltop

We knew what we are up for going to Phuket during low season. It may pour all day or it can be nice. But even on rainy days Boomerang is a nice place to stay. Good restaurant, attentive staff, beautiful garden. It's a shame we are leaving soon.
Downs. Rather weak wifi. iPad struggled inside the room, but my phone was ok and Skype worked reasonably. Frifge turns off and is melting down when you go for the day and turn off the electricity. Could have been planned better.Breakfast is good but always same, i would expect better selection of fruit. overall a pleasurable relaxing stay.

Room Tip: we were in 115 (pool suite). close to the pool, ground floor, which was important as i travelled wit...

This small resort on the hilltop is landscaped beautifully. The rooms have a charm of their own. The room and the bathroom have a very interesting decor. Our room was close to the reception and had all the required amenities. Rooms higher up have better views but could be bit of a climb. The food at Cafe del Sol was good. The breakfast buffet spread was good but a couple of chicken items could be added. They arranged a candle light dinner by the side of the pool on Christmas Eve. The folks at the reception are very friendly and managed to get us a discount for the most amazing trip to Phangna Bay (Hong by Starlight). Service is great and the manager himself drove us to the Kata beach (5 minutes drive) when the driver was not available. In a nutshell, we highly recommend the resort which has a soul of its own.

Room Tip: Rooms up the hill have better views

Stay was average - not amazing but I would consider other options due to the dated room and distance to beach. This definitely has a European-family-hotel-vibe.

Room was a deluxe: large and roomy with safe, fridge and waters, fresh towels/toiletries daily, including complementary blue 'pool towels'. But, tv and water heater/kettle were dated. No English channels available on CRT in room (but can be viewed in lounge) and kettle wire was frayed (reported to general manager and asked for replacement but told that 'it worked and to plug it into another socket'). Hotel was 'non-smoking' in rooms, but I suspect this was ignored in the past as the room did have a hint of old tobacco in areas. Fly screen kept coming off rails and sliding door lock didn't work most of the time.

Location: good and quiet - about 25-30 mins downhill walk to lovely Kata beach and a welcome distance from the cheese and sleaze of Patong. Near local market and Tesco Lotus. But, due to distance to beach (walk is un-covered so be prepared to get roasted in the sun, and short-cut to northern end of beach goes via sewer/canal), we mainly relied on the hotel's free shuttle/taxi. The only included destination is Kata beach and in one direction at a time i.e., to beach from 9am-1pm / back to hotel from 4pm-6pm. You are by no means 'stuck' but it's worth knowing that to book their service (or local taxi) outside the stated hours or direction is a minimum of 200THB. Also, the uphill walk is steep (not impossible by any means, but worth noting) and walking back from the main street - Patak - after dark is a little treacherous (small pack of local dogs at the bottom of the street who are fine during the day, but bark and try to bite when you walk past at night).

Pool: freshwater and clean enough (depending on the hygiene of other users). Open from 9am (as cleaned beforehand) and very busy in the evenings when people come back from the beach (normally from 5pm).

Breakfast: buffet with mainly European food (sometimes Italian or Thai dishes such as rice, soup or pastas pop up in the bains-marie) including cereal, toast, pastries and fruit. Eggs are to-order and include omelette, scrambled, fried and various levels of hard/soft boil. Not sure what the hotel policy on smoking in the dining room is, but it was irritating to have a group of guests light-up over breakfast in a communal area.

Internet: free, but weak in room. Wifi was fine by pool-side and in dining room (free pcs and ipad in business centre also), but connectivity went down for almost 2 days during stay.

The hotel does try to have a high standard of service and there are members of staff visible all-day who greet you on sight and who try to accommodate your requests. But, as this was the last section of a trip which included travelling through Thailand and south-east Asia, what stood out was the peace and quiet which was challenged by the compromises due to the room's ageing amenities and distance from Kata beach (paying a premium for food in their restaurant, short trips (outside the free shuttle) and even laundry (if you are used to paying by the kilo when travelling in Thailand, note that the hotel charges by the piece)).

This was our second stay at this resort, and we travelled all the way from Bangkok just to stay here. The rooms are beautiful and romantic, the buffet breakfast is excellent, and the pool is fantastic. The staff are also great if you make a bit of an effort to get to know them.

There are 2 downsides to this place: the steep hill leading into the resort and the distance from the beach. That being said, the hill isn't bad if you are in any sort of shape, and the resort offers a free shuttle to and from the beach, so the distance from the beach becomes a selling point as the resort is far from the business of the beach. there are also some great restaurants nearby, but you do have to walk 20 minutes or so to reach them.

We would stay here again in a heartbeat

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the garden. That way you don't get the noisy room by the parking area.
