“Beautiful hotel, really helpful staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

We had a wonderful stay at the Boomerang in December 2011. We were on holiday with my brother and his family, who were staying on their yacht, so the teenage kids took it in turns to stay with us. The friendly staff were perfectly happy to see the guests change daily and brought and assembled extra beds at very short notice. The rooms and gardens were utterly beautiful and the breakfast buffet was fresh and delicious. Thoroughly recommended.

“Wonderful Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

We stayed at the Boomerang for 3 nights in January 2013.

The drive that leads up to Boomerang is pretty steep however, despite being fit we used the free taxi service to and from the beach during the day and at night the hotel will provide a taxi service to anywhere you wish, at a cost.

There is a security guard who operates during the evening, he is lovely.
If you ask for a wake up call, the security guard knocks on your door and will not stop until you wake up! We found this very amusing, however, it worked!

The reception staff are very helpful and lovely too and most speak very good english. Very helpful young lady and gentlemen but I do not remeber their names.

Everything goes on your bill, no cash exchanged. You pay when you leave.

The rooms are lovely, very traditional. Make sure you take insect repellant though, I got bit quite a few times as the hotel is surrounded by greenery.

The pool is lovely. Very clean and lovely to cool off as it was extremly hot in Kata.

The computers and ipads were great and free to use.

Breakfast was great. Very large selection and the staff are lovely.
We didnt eat at the restaurant on an evening as there are lots of restuarants to eat at in Kata.
We would definately recommend Two Chefs.

Kata beach is stunning and Boomerang have their own little area. If you want drinks though, water can set you back around 40baht, however, if you buy from the shop in advance you pay around 7 baht.

Like the previous person said, if you want to be right in the centre of the action, then it probably isn’t for you. In the town, there is Elvis and Abba impersonators etc, it wasnt lively enough for us, so we just went to different towns for the evening ie Karon and Patong.

Overall, would highly recommend, especially to families and couples.

Room Tip: All lovely rooms.

“Wonderful hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

We stayed at the Boomerang for 5 nights in January 2013. We originally were due to stay elsewhere but decided it wasn’t for us and went back to a hotel we knew from a previous stay in 2010. We weren’t disappointed with our decision.

Location:-
Boomerang Village is located approx. 15mins walk from the centre of Kata, and the beach area. Some may view this as a negative, however I think it’s a good thing. Kata has expanded a lot, and is now very busy with lots of traffic and noise. Boomerang is so quiet and peaceful, it really is relaxing. Its located on a hill overlooking Kata, if you look further up the hill all you see is dense green jungle. The drive that leads up to Boomerang is pretty steep, and does take it out of you walking up. Once laid by the pool, or relaxing in your own little bungalow room its worth it! The hotel offer a free taxi service to and from the beach during the day, which is well worth taking advantage of.

Rooms:-
The rooms are decorated in a traditional Thai style, and are very tasteful. It isn’t a super modern hotel, but it feels like real Thailand. All of the accommodation is single storey bungalows. A previous review says the walls are thin but I never heard a noise from our neighbouring bungalow the whole stay. We stayed in a superior room, which was kept really clean, which I believe is the cheapest and most basic. It was really good for the money paid and im not sure what extra you would get for paying for the next room up. Our room had a huge comfy king-size bed, large bathroom with good shower, Air con, Large wardrobe with a safe, colour tv, private balcony, tea, coffee facilities and a hairdryer which made my girlfriend happy!

Grounds & facilities:-
As mentioned above the hotel is set up in the hills overlooking Kata. If you look further up the hill, whilst laying at the pool all you see is lush green jungle. You cannot beat that. The pool area itself, is clean, with plenty of comfy sunbeds. The pool has a small Jacuzzi at one end. The pool is really clean and lovely for a dip to cool off. All of the hotel is really clean and there are lots of nice plants and trees etc. to make the general feel of the place very tropical. The hotel also offers a ‘Business Centre’, this consists of 2 computers, and an iPad. This equipment is free to use, for as long as required. Printers are also available free of charge. This is a really nice touch and makes onwards travel etc very easy to book and print confirmation.

Restaurant:-
The free buffet breakfast is served from the restaurant, and I felt it was a good breakfast. Cereals, Breads, Pancakes, Juices, Fresh cooked eggs, fruits, cakes, pastries, various hot dishes, and more were all available and continually restocked. We never left breakfast hungry or dissatisfied with what was available. We had lunch a couple of times at the restaurant and it was very nice. We never had an evening meal at the hotel as there is so much choice in the centre of Kata at far more appealing prices.

Staff:
All Staff we had dealings with were very helpful and friendly. They couldn’t be faulted.

Overall, we had a great stay in Kata, and were really happy staying at the Boomerang for a second time. I would 100% recommend this hotel. If you want to be right in the centre of the action, then it probably isn’t for you. However, if you like the sound of a tropical haven, set in the hills away from the hustle and bustle, book it now!

“There are better places..”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

We stayed at Boomerang for three nights.. all of which we wished we were staying somewhere else.

Pros:
- Very nice staff
- Restaurant (for dinner) was okay
- Nice pool area
- Business center available

Cons:
- Breakfast buffet wasn't that good.
- Water leaked all over the bathroom floor when showering
- Sinks were to far away from the edge of the counter
- Room decor was empty
- No couch/comfy chairs in room
- Thin walls
- Location

Overall, if going to Phuket, I would find somewhere else. Boomerang was far away from a lot of things, and cab drivers charged a lot to take you up the hill. We went to the beach area and saw tons of nice hotels! Definitely look into a hotel closer to the water. Boomerang was very boutique-ish, and a lot of the services were outdated.

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for taking your time reviewed the feed back on Trip Advisor. We are very sorry for the bad situation related to our staff. The receptionist was a trainee who was new in the job. She is not here at the moment because could not work effectively and made many mistakes. However, we wouldn't blame the trainee at all about these problems. We apologize for everything that didn't meet your expectation and we try the best for the better service.

Warm regards from the entire BVR staff.

“Another much enjoyable long stay at the Boomerang”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

We stayed here 35 nights altogether from late October through Dec., 2012. This was our third season visiting this hotel. As the name implies we keep coming back!

Many things continually get better - the breakfast each stay has improved with variety and overall quality, a nice plus. The grounds are truly beautiful and require a lot of work to keep it and improve on it, they are doing a great job. Once again we left luggage behind in between visits at the Boomerang when we travelled to Bali and then Chiang Mai before returning to Phuket. Friendliness of the staff was very enjoyable for us definately. Being on the outskirts of Kata area with the jungle behind is very neat, and much quieter then down below. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the beach which for us is quite easy and the hill is no problem on the way back.

A few things not quite as good as before, hence the 4 star rating as compared to previous of 5. We were in 4 different rooms this time and in one of them the bed was really worn out........another one it wasn't as bad but should not be in a hotel, imo. A few days our room wasn't cleaned till between 6 and a bit after 7 PM but we understand they were getting staff changes and were short workers for a bit - which wasn't a big deal by any means but thought it should be noted as this is a review.

Kata Beach is our favourite beach out of all the different places we have gone.
