“Nice hotel in need of more smiles”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2011

We stayed for 6 nights in May 2011. The hotel itself is quite nice, with a big pool, clean rooms and good access to the beach. Unfortunately the A/C in our room and that of our friends did not work properly, as we were sweating while just sitting in there with the A/C in the lowest setting. We did not mind getting another room, but the staff was not that eager to help. Simply putting some keys in our hands and telling us to check other rooms for a working A/C is not really customer service. Eventually we found one (after trying at least 10 of them, by then the staff was also warming up a bit and helping out eagerly) which was working more or less alright.
Furthermore I would not recommend to eat at the hotel restaurant. The breakfast is okay, with several choices, even though the staff could try to be more friendly here as well. But the chef did not manage to cook any of our choices at lunch tasty, so we did not expect any change to the better in the evening and opted to eat at much better ones in the area.
Another negative point was the tailor shop on the hotel grounds, where everyone had to walk by. It was quite annoying to turn down the offer of suits every day.
All in all it is a good hotel, but the staff should definitely practice customer relations.

Room Tip: A/C on the first floor seems to work better.

I have stayed at this accomodation before 10 days in May 2008 and again this year in May 2011 for 7 days, The accomodation meals and everything about the place is great, pool is excellent as are the staff. It is very close to the beach and many good restuarants and bars. It could do with a little bit of maintainance to make it look like new again but that is not a problem,, but just would look a little bit fresher.. The ONLY FAULT that I have is that I emailed them to see if there was internet access in the room to which I was told YES for a fee, not a problem but after I paid I was told that it most likely would not work in my room that I would have to come down to reception,, but even then was not very good kept dropping out ,,, and so several occassions used thier internet service but was still lacking,,, THEY COULD DO WITH A COMPLETE UP GRADE OF INTERNET SERVICES ...... Apart from that I would still recommend it to people and will stay there again when I come back again

Room Tip: ask for a room on 2nd level over looking the pool

We stayed here in April. We had a top floor poolside room and it was great, with a nice sea breeze.
The rooms are large and clean with full bathroom. Quiet location.
Buffet breakfast is pretty good too.
Pool is fabulous with excellent kid friendly area (for a three year old), spa area and lots of space for everyone.
2 minutes walk to the beach.
right next to restaurants, shops, taxi stand if you want to go Patong or elsewhere.
Hotel has tour office if you want to arrange any tours, transport, bike hire, etc
Overall, excellent value for money, you can't go wrong. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: ask for a poolside room - these are the best!

I did alot of research for a place for us to stay. 12 yrs old twin boy and girl don't do the relaxing by the pool holidays.they like to be on the go all the time.I think their favourite saying in thailand is 'what are we going to do next'I was so glad that we decided on poolside for this reason, we had rain on and off as you get with the end of the moonson .We could duck out with umbrellas to have dinner,or get an icecream and it wasn't a hassle.everything you need is close.we loved the staff ,they were fantastic ,so friendly ,always smiling.we thought that their english was very good, alot better than our thai ,especially considering that we were the only english speaking people staying there.Yes the beds are hard but considering the price of the 2 connecting rooms that we got compared to a family room some where else ,it is only a small thing. Our rooms were kept spotless the whole stay.Would not hesitate to stay here next time.

Kata poolside resort is really beautiful, it looks just like the pictures on their website. The room is really clean and beautifully decorated. Staff are friendly and helpful. The Prawn and Lobster restaurant served really great food. The location of the hotel is great as its really central, close to the beach, shops, restaurants, markets. We loved it. Only disadvantage - not much to chose from on the television (but who watches TV on holiday anyway?) and internet was too slow, so we used an internet cafe. Overall, I can recommend it and will definitely go back!

We found Kata Poolside Resort fantastic - loved the pool, found the hotel very clean and the staff very good. Given the location - down the road from the beach - you still can get great value here and still enjoy the beach and night life of Kata. Our few minor issues included no pool bar and if you ordered drinks from the restaurant to the pool you have to pay cash, the bed was a little hard and there was a lack of pillows in the room. Otherwise we had a fantastic stay at this resort and definitely recommend it!

Stayed four nights at this hotel with my girlfriend. For a three star place at only 850 baht u cant really complain. Staff are friendly and place is well kept. The pool is great, not enough chairs around it but other than that great. The location is awsome with a short walk to the beach and some great restaurants.

My only complaint is that the matress was extremelly hard. It was very uncomfortable to sleep on and is by far the hardest matress ive ever slept on.

Also those requring wifi or even decent pay as you go internet will be disapointed. Its very lacking in this area and has no printing facility for online tickets etc.

Other than that this hotel is worth a look for budget travellers looking for a great location.
