Boyfriend and I were supposed to stay there for 3 nights after staying at the Hilton at Karon. Both 5 star resorts but a world of a difference. Stayed the first night at the Bhuri wing and went back to the Hilton. Had to leave because something in the room gave me an asthmatic reaction even though I haven't had asthma in 10 years. The smell in the room was suffocating even with an air purifier. Moved to another room which smelled like a basement and stunk of mould. Showers were mouldy and not cleaned. The pillows were full of dust. Service wasn't good. Were rude and laughed when we asked for a discount because we spent a whole night out of our one week holiday moving rooms and figuring out where we would stay. Hilton gave us the same room we had before for the same rate. Were we glad to be back at the Hilton. Mind you, when we first got to Katathani we were excited and spent the day soaking up the sun by the pool which was really nice. We had a massage by the pool also. However when we saw the room we were unpleasantly surprised. The photos online are deceiving, we couldn't believe how different everything looked. The quality of the furniture was low. It was simply crummy. Although we didn't move hotels for these reasons, they added to the experience. Breakfast wasn't too good either, compared to the hilton anyway. We were disappointed overall, with the quality of the rooms and the service. Would never consider going to any other 5 star resort but the hilton. Because our experience at Katathani was no where near 5 star. We even paid more for the room than at Hilton which we couldn't understand. Don't bother unless you are willing to pay $400 plus a night for the ocean front newly renovated suite. We paid $260 which still isn't cheap. Bottom of the line, gave us a headache, and is not worthy of a 5 star resort.

However, we regret not having met your expectation with regards to the accommodation. We do renovate often, however being located directly on the sea requires us to constantly reduce the results of chronic humidity. We provide the information in the room, which guide guests how to help reduce humidity in the rooms by keeping the doors closed while air condition is turned on etc.
I do apologize if some of our staff member’s behavior and the provided service weren’t satisfactory, surely this is not our standard, and we are well known about our kindness and the good service of our employees. However I have addressed your complaint with the operations team including relevant department heads that are able to investigate and to take corrective measures.
Overall I am sorry to hear that your short stay was unsatisfactory, and I do apologize about the inconvenience caused.
