“Very nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2012

Hotel is very nice. Inside you can find a beautiful garden that looks like a jungle :) Rooms are not big, but quite nice and clean. You should ask for the room that is located near to the pool. They're lighter. Service is very nice and helpful. We wanted to rent a car and they organized everything. We just had to pay and sign the agreement. After check out there is no problem to store luggage. You can also take a shower after check out in special room. It's very comfortable, if your flight is in the evening.

We loved this hotel, although it was a 10minute walk from Kata beach, it was tucked away from the more commercial feeling tourist crowds and offered a tranquil base for a relaxing week in Phuket. The Thai-style decor is beautiful and really feels like you are in Thailand, rather than in a generic, white-washed resort.

We arrived early after an early flight and the customer service was great from the moment we arrived, we waited for less than 20 minutes in the lounge with a complimentary drink before they informed us our room was ready. The rooms are beautiful, dark wood and Thai style, with luxurious gold and white mosquito nets around the bed and all the amenities you need (large flat screen TV, PC, WiFi, minibar/fridge, kettle, large wardrobe etc.) I can't understand the negative comments about the room size- the bed is huge, probably the biggest I've ever seen, and there's plenty of space to walk around/store suitcases too, we were very comfortable. Each room has a table and bench seating outside, this was the only slight disappointment as I felt it would be better if there was a slightly more private terrace area- we had a pool view room which meant our seat outside our room felt part of the bar area rather than somewhere to read/sit in private.

The grounds are beautiful, with numerous water features and fishponds leading up to the rooms and to the restaurant and although the pool isn't huge, it was perfect for a little swim or relax and a chance to cool down, with waterfalls, jazquizzis and seating areas, as well as the pool bar where you can sit and enjoy some lunch or a cocktail in the water. The breakfast was excellent, lots of choice (cereals, breads, cold meat/cheeses, cooked breakfasts, asian food, fruit, fresh eggs, french toast, pancakes.)

Yes, there are mosquitos in the resort however, I've been to Phuket several times and mosquitos are always going to be a problem, I didn't have any more bites this time than I have done during other stays so I don't think the Sawasdee Village can be blamed! The staff come round every evening and spray the rooms/put down the mosquito nets during turndown, and light citronella candles around the resort to try and reduce the number of mossies as much as possible. They also provide a mosquito plug in the room, so you don't need to bring your own.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay here and I wouldn't hesitate to book Sawasdee Village again for a relaxing stay in Kata.

Room Tip: If you want privacy on your terrace, ask to not be in a pool-view room, as the doors of these open s...

I booked two rooms for myself and my parents. A standard Garden Room (very small) and Villa. After checking out my parents Villa I quickly upgraded to the Villa. We spent a total of four nights in the Villas. The Villas a pure class. The private pool and swim up bar are amazing. The restaurant is also very good. Brekky was included and was by far the best of all places we stayed in Thailand. The staff were great with all requests and questions. Also recommend the Tailor directly across the road - One of the few places run by a thai. My mother also used the spa and was highly impressed. I am writing this wishing I was back in my room.

Room Tip: We stayed in 201 - right near the huge water feature. My parents in room 208. Near the bar. Dad se...

First, they made us check in later than 2pm because the room was not prepared yet.
Secondly, we got the shock of our lives when we got to our room.
We found that it was sooooo small for a room that i could have well gotten in patong at less than half the price.
The toilet was also desperately in need of a renovation and so small.
The floor was damp and moist when we stepped into the room
There was some foul smell in the room as well.
Mosquitoes seems to be present everywhere.
There's not much goodness i can say in this resort and i wonder how in the world did they manage to get such good reviews. I'm just thoroughly disappointed.

We just stayed at Sawasdee Village and it was a great experience. The pool and the grounds are beautiful. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful, and we felt safe the whole time. They allowed us to check in early on the day we arrived, and they safely guarded our luggage after checkout because we had a late flight out. They even offered us a free shower when we got back to pick up our luggage (it was amazing).

The hotel is connected to a restaurant where you can take a Thai cooking class, which was very worth the ~$40USD. It lasted about 2.5 hours, including a little trip to the local market where our guide pointed out all the produce and herbs we were going to use. The first people to sign up for the class get to choose the menu, we signed up the day before and just went with what they had chosen: green curry with chicken, tom yum soup, and shrimp pad thai. All were super delicious, and they set up cooking stations so that you get the whole hands on experience.. including chopping.

All in all it was a great place to stay, they have a free shuttle every hour to the beach (but really the beach is only a 15 minute walk), they have great service, free wi-fi with fancy computer/tv set up in each room, and 4 free bottles of water/day. Only detriment was out of their control..the mosquitoes. They do include this terrific mosquito spray that we used in the room each time we left, and that made the mosquito problem pretty minor. And they have a pretty mosquito net to use while you're sleeping that makes you feel a little safer :).
