Having been to various beaches around the world, and having heard of Thailand's beaches, we thought that this would be as beautiful as the photos suggested. Boy, were we wrong!
The beach was impossibly crowded and dirty, and we were asked to pay for everything - beach chairs, [filthy] towels, etc. It was so commercialized with vendors and hawkers flogging everything that the "not so discerning" traveler needs, that the charm - if any - of the beach was ruined.
The water was filthy too, with plastic, rubbish and dirt- green-brown water instead of the brilliant aquamarine that the photos lead you to believe. The beach and the water were noisy and crowded, with jet skis and para-sailing jostling with row upon row of beach umbrellas and European tourists.
Definitely not a place I'd go to again, and definitely not the idyllic paradise that is portrayed by Thailand tourism.
