“Very good experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here with out two sons and my parents over Christmas. Even though it's the busy season the staff was very accommodating. The location is right on a Main Street in Kata. The woman at the tour desk is incredibly helpful and gave some excellent recommendations for restaurants, tours, spas and cooking class. The pool and buffet breakfast are nice too. Overall good value considering it is the peak season.

Great hotel.

Accommodates families fantastically well. We were a convoy of around 20 people, both friends and family, and it was the perfect location for our reunion. Some of us are english and some australian so it was a meet in the middle location for us all.

Staff were fantastic. Not so good English but you can't really expect that in Thailand.

Buffet breakfasts were great - chef would cook you up some fresh poached eggs in a morning which was brilliant. It is a continental buffet style breakfast so there was some strange foods but continental is never 100% to a persons taste anyway. Definitely something there for everyone.

Great location - 5 min walk from the beach and away from local bars and restaurants. Beach was beautiful and local food was great.

Can get a tuk tuk (I think that's what they were called) to Bangalore Road which is freakin crazy!! So much fun!!

Can book trips locally too which pick you up directly from hotel - Phi Phi island is phenomenal. Do not miss that if your in the area!!!

Pool is gorgeous at hotel with a bar serving cocktails that you can swim or walk up to. They put the cost on your tab so you don't need to carry money with you around the pool!

Low cost and bedrooms are really great! Seriously I would recommend this place to anyone I truly had the time of my life here :)

Stayed at Kata Palm with our 2 year old boy for 3 days in October...It was the best resort in our entire Thailand trip.
The decor was rich, lovely spacious rooms, neat & clean linen, good WiFi, breakfast was big and awesome, Kata beach was walk-able though the resort had shuttle services...and the best being The Pool...Resort was perfect for us, very glad we chose these hotel and would definitely love to return one day!

Room Tip: Ask for a room closer to the reception, else you will end up walking a bit!

I've heard of this hotel quite a lot but this is my first time stay here. This place quite surprised me because by the location for some tourists might not happy with Kata Palm Resort & Spa. But for me it's ok because when I went inside the lobby area and walk into the hotel area the atmosphere was so great. Very green by lots of tree, I think that why it's not too hot. And the room so clean, I was impress everyday I stayed there.

Kata Palm exceeded my expectations on nearly every front! From the moment we checked in, as part of a party of 11 people, our room was huge, the bathroom amazing, the balcony with poolviews great, the cot with mozzie net for baby was perfect, the kind size bed for the adults and they even had a little anti-mozzie vapourizer for which they left refills each day. In any case, there were very few mozzies!

The wide ranging buffet breakfast was great and really set us up for big days, every day! The hotel decor was authentic thai and the front of house and housekeeping staff were very polite and helpful.

In the rooms, the 6 litre water bottles available for 600ThBhat (equivalent to $2 aussie) were really handy, and they left a couple of complimentary small water bottles each day. NB. The tap water was fine - we brushed our teeth using tap water each day, but preferred bottled water for drinking and babies bottles.

The enormous variety of pool settings, including the kiddie pool, swim-up bar and the bubblers kept my kids amused and me refreshed.

The hotel is well located to amenities, (except the extortionately priced convenience store next door - avoid that!) and it is about a 5 minute walk to the beach.

Overall, the service and friendly staff are this resort's best assets. I would love to stay here again and really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of Kata Beach generally.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view room - try to get one closer to the front of the hotel and on floors one or two...

My Wife and I travelled to Thailand in (end of) October 2013. We were attending a friend's wedding in Thailand. I am a TA contributor and did my research before hand. So i came across Kata Palm and reviews suggested it was a great deal. The wedding party and all other guests stayed at Katathani resort, we opted to be on our own in Kata beach which is close enough.

I will try and keep to the facts:

Location:
The location of the Hotel is nice, it is tucked away from the busy road in Kata and we never had a problem with noise etc.. The walk to the beacj took about 10minutes to get to the Kata Palm Sunloungers. But only 5min to the start of the beach. You have to walk around the wall of Club Med's useless sport facility/mini golf course.

Ckeck-inn:
On arrival, we were greeted politely and received a refreshing cold tee of sorts. Our bag were taken and the lady at the front desk told we would be able to check in an hour (we arrived early morning).

Room
After an Hour walking in Kata and looking at the shops there, we returned and went to our room (203) close to the front of the resort. The room was lovley, aircon was working 100% (believe me its hot in Thailand, so this is a must). Evrything in the room was fine and we could ask for more!! The blinds are nice and thick and on days when we wanted to sleep in we never saw the sun..but this almost caught us out on trip days, so just take note.
The bathroom had only a shower in it, but suited us. The shower was really nice, and nothing broke leaked or was dirty!
The Tv has some English Channels with Series and Movies, if you like soccer there is alot of soccer channels.

Food:
So the breakfast were really nice, a good variety of Thai and Western food. Our accommodation included buffet Breakfast. There were pancakes, waffles, cereal, fruit, bacon, eggs, omelettes etc.. Enough for anyone. It was really good quality and variety!

The Restaurant in the front does Al' carte and on some days they do Buffet with Live Music! We ate here on the Buffet evening, the food was ok, we ate alot and enjoyed it.

*One of the managers (cant remember her name) phoned me earlier and arranged a birthday cake for my wife (free of Charge) this was a really nice touch, i did not even request this, Kata Palm took the initiative!! Thanks for this!!

Staff:
The staff were always friendly and we felt at home here. They always greeted us with a smile and nothing was too much trouble. The towels were changed daily with no exceptions, they were always clean and pressed.

Conclusion:
This is definatley a great choice Hotel in Kata Beach. The value for money compared to other Hotels is excellent. The food is good, rooms are adequate, staff friendly!! If every we return to Thailand/Kata i would stay here again!!!

We are from South Africa, so the conversion rate was about 3.00Baht for 1.00Rand. Nothing compared to what the Europeans were getting. So this is a great Hotel for Saffas.

Taxi's:
Just to give some extra info, Taxi services to and from Kata to Karon, Patong, Katanoi are as follows (please note this is the taxi's outside the Hotel)
Kata - Katanoi 200Baht
Kata - Karon 300Baht
Kata - Patong 400Baht

Tip:
Another Tip when you stay in Kata, when you want to buy snack or colddrinks. Dont buy from anywhere else than 7Eleven (which is on your way to the beach anyway). The other shops close to the beach charge alot extra!!
Shops at the beach charged 75Baht fro a bag of chips, and 25baht for a 330ml coke . 7Eleven charged 30Baht for chips and 17Baht for 500ml coke water was about 7Baht for 500ml.
So its pretty much double at other stores!!!

Room Tip: All rooms are nice, we stayed on the second floor and didn't have any issues!
