Just came back from a 3 nights stay.. We booked the beachfront deluxe and was given room 108. The beachfront deluxe rooms are on the ground floor and ours are facing a small pool and beyond that, the beach. Initially we thought the rooms itself would be located directly on the beach, but the whole hotel was built up from the beach. Guess it is wise bcos the tide gets really high in the morning. Having said that, the beachfront rooms are still very near the beach. The other reviewers recommended staying on the higher floors, but I found the beachfront deluxe to be perfect. No need to take the stairs or lifts for everyday access to restaurant, beach, Re Ka Ta beach club etc. The room itself is pretty basic. Nice white decor, bath room with rain shower, flat screen tv, small balcony with two seats, and right outside, 2 sun loungers facing the small pool. There are 3 sports channels (my hubby was delighted to be able to view the champion league finals in the room!), national geo, cartoon network, hbo, another moive channel, BBC,
CNN, Monde , DW, and some local Thai channels. Of cos one dont go Phuket to stay in the room to watch tv, but we did ve 3 rainy afternoons during our stay...
The best part is the little touches or gestures to make guests feel happy. A small basket of different fruits is delivered to the room everyday in the afternoon. Housekeeping is twice a day. At first we thought there were a mistake and maybe the housekeeper forgot that she had already serviced the room.
The Continental breakfast was presented as the buffet. The hot selection order was taken by the waiter. The hot breakfast includes eggs, pancakes, French toast, congee, fried rice, fried noodles. I felt this was better as the hot food was prepared fresh by the chef in the lunch when you order rather than the usual stuff of queuing at the egg station, taking your hot bfast from buffet trays.
The Re Ka ta beach club was located beachfront (v near to our room) with a small but sufficient infinity pool. This infinity pool is not the one I mentioned outside my room. The beach club are accessible to guests of cos. N it was where we spent most of our time. Little touches again to make guest happy. There are two giant float in the pool. Me n hubby loved sitting/ lying on the same float n just chatted while having the whole Kata beach in front of us! There are sunloungers and bed sunlounger, hammock etc, all to make pool lounging more relaxing. The Re ku ta beach boys working there are really Hardworking. They will bring you beach towels and line the sunloungers the minute you arrive. And bring you glass of cool water. Really gd service! The Re ku ta cafe and boutique has movenpick ice-cream! Something I only discovered on my last day... Boutique has really fashionable beachwear. If you choose to lounge at the beach, the hotel beach boys are also there at your service! The hotel is located at one end of the kata beach. Really quieter n less busy. Kata beach is a very clean beach with white sands and blue waters. But rather choppy waves. We spent the afternoons "jumping" over the currants when it came and had a good laugh/time. There are surfers too. We can't surf but had a great time just watching the surfers at work!!
The only small complaint I had was the location. There were resturants, convenient stores, massage palour right outside the hotel. But to go to night markets, Central festive mall, Jungcelyon mall or other parts of Phuket, we had to take a cab. Single trip cost 500 baht (pretty standard fare I am afraid). We spent the whole day at the pool or beach (which is really what we are after) and only make a trip out everyday in the evening, so still ok. The restaurant "Two chefs", directly opposite the hotel, serves quite food food. Try the Thai redsnapper with curry!
The hotel spa is very exp. The most basic 1 hour massage cost 1900 baht! The ones outside only 400 baht! We went to Darin massage and Oriental massage. Clean and decent ambience, good massage too.
Overall, I am very impressed with Boathouse hotel. Oh did I mention, we got a early check in and late check out??? :))) (of cos we didn't expect that, but was happy when the hotel accommodated us on that!)
