“Modern hotel with beautiful views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2014

We spent six days at the Foto Hotel over the New Year holidays and had a fantastic time. The hotel is very modern and the rooms are well-appointed, with excellent air-con and free mini-bar. Our room had a wonderful view over Kata Noi, and the infinity pool on the roof of the hotel had even more outstanding views of the surrounding area.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful - English not always perfect, but we're in a foreign country, right?
The breakfast at the hotel was delicious, with a choice of either Thai or Western food.
The hotel is away from the hustle and bustle of Kata, but you can walk down to the town and the beaches. Kata Noi beach is highly recommended. Yes, the hotel is on a steep hill, but you can take a taxi if the walk back up is too much for you.
We had a great time and will certainly be coming back to Foto Hotel.

Room Tip: We had a beach-view room which was really great.

I've been here 3 out of a 13 day stay, and I have to say I'm completely wow-ed by the Foto Hotel. I booked despite some negative reviews about rude staff, and I have to say I have not yet experienced that. The staff are all lovely, and apart from a bit of a language barrier, they are always smiling. We got a beautiful Ozone Hall Room, and don't mind not having an Ocean View, because the rooms are so striking. The bathtub on the balcony, the huge bed and wonderful decor make this hotel really special. Some parts of the room are aged, but its incredible value for the price. The hike up the hill can be heavy during the middle of the day, so a scooter is recommended. But your a short walk from bars and restaurants, so walking during the night is fine. Kata Beach is a beautiful area, haven't felt unsafe at all! Overall, so far so good.

Room Tip: Ask for an room that can be reached using the inclinator elevator - will save you a fairly hefty wal...

The ocean-view room was really nice, with a balcony bathtub.
Also the staff were very friendly.
The location is also good that only 5mins walk from market and fruit shop.

One thing to be improved is that the available tv channels are too limited.

We stayed here in December for 3 nights. We stayed in 6 hotels while in Thailand and this is one of our favourites - up there with the Banyan Tree in Bangkok!!

We had a sea view room. We had read on here that the rooms and beds were big but we didnt realise just how big! The beds were nice and comfy too!! Our room was clean and had a nice smell to it (not that I often go around smelling rooms).

The breakfast was very good too, we had the western breakfast. Cooked fresh to order and breakfast is served until 1pm.

The pool, furniture and the view are all brilliant not to mention the sunset!!

As for the staff can't say I spoke to them often except in the restaurant and by the bar but seemed helpful to me. Also when checking in and out we had ni problems.

A tip - Go to kata noi beach rather than kata beach. Can walk there from kata beach or the hotel!

This is one of my favourite hotels that I have stayed in. The hotel is modern and rooms are big, clean and have great views over Kata noi beach. There is a roof top pool over looking the bay, if you are not into this you can head to the beach, either by free shuttle service or rent a motorbike/taxi - it will take 4-5 minutes. Would recommend this hotel to anyone considering a visit to Kata Beach.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are worth upgrading for as you look over Kata Noi beach

This is one of my best hotel experience. We stayed for a week and we had only had positive moments. We had a room that where furthest from the pool and reception. And I see among the review people have some complain about that and that the hotel is up a steep hill. But if you are in average shape there is no problem walking to the town, beach or reception. But maybe if you have COPD or a heart disease you should maybe consider a room closer to the reception...

I have no idea why people are writing such horrible reviews. Foto Hotel is not only beautiful but fresh and incredibly designed. We stayed at Foto for 5 days and I wish we stayed longer. I found the staff lovely, of course not every single staff member is going to jump up and give you a huge happy welcoming every time you walk through the lobby but they do smile and say hello, the second place we stayed was Phuket Graceland Resort and I would pick the staff at Foto Hotel over Graceland any day (AND THE ROOMS AT FOTO!). One reviewer mentioned there is an elevator for only level 1 to 3, however there is a BUGGY that staff are happy to drive you too and from your room with no stress 24/7! The hotel is up quite a steep hill however it was actually quite nice walking down and felt like you were getting a good quick work up walking up. But for those who don't want to walk a tuk tuk only costs 200 baht (standard taxi minimum cost). In regards to breakfast I thought Graceland would be better due to full on buffet breakfast but since being at Graceland I preferred Foto Hotel due to the fact there are 3 options, you pick which option you would like and they make it fresh just for you. It was easy, you could get your eggs just as you like and they have a barista! So you didn't have to drink instant coffee. You also still have basic buffet selections like fruit, pastries, different types toast. All in all we loved our stay at Foto Hotel and felt so disappointed when arriving at Graceland Resort, all we wanted to do was go back to Foto. I would highly suggest Foto Hotel for couples as we loved it! I love kids but it was nice and peaceful staying somewhere with only couples and older families. Also the views are just beautiful! And the rooms smell lovely! (Unlike Graceland). PLUS free wifi everywhere in the hotel! And not only did they give us 2 free bottles of drinking water, they gave us 4 free bottles, 2 free cans of coke and free little jellies DAILY!! Can't stress it enough, we wish we stayed there the whole trip!
