We accidentally took the long detour, walked all around Taka town, before we found this place! (Later, we realized it’s only a couple blocks from the beach!) But this restaurant has such a wonderful reputation that it was worth our long hike under the hot Phuket sun! We enjoyed a fabulous lunch here, everything was delicious and it felt like eating food cooked by your own mother! The best crab curry ever! Large chunks of succulent crab meat and potato stewed in a yellow coconut curry. We also loved the grilled beef salad: tender slices of beef, perfectly grilled and served with fresh cucumber, carrot, basil, mint, lemongrass, and red onion. The combination of the herbs and the spicy/sour dressing was fantastic, enhanced the complex flavors of this dish. And, of course, our favorite Thai dish: sautéed morning glory (water spinach) was excellent!
We each drank 2 coconuts with our lunch! Ice cold and so refreshing! We’ve decided that Thai coconuts are much sweeter and tastier than the coconuts from back home Hawaii. The waitress was so happy when we told her this!
Nice, casual setting with relaxing atmosphere. Intriguing collection of retro posters and old photographs on the wall.
Lunch for two 550Baht (about $17US). Highly recommended.
