We were very impressed with this hotel. We were having our wedding at the Katathani which is sort of joined and decided to treat ourselves to the 6* section of resort. Check-in was easy, they sit you on the couch and give you a drink and cold towel etc but we've had that from 4 and 5 star hotels in thailand. The villa's are amazing, we were in the ocean view so the view was really amazing, especially with the lap pool outside. I could have moved into one I loved it so much. Not over the top like a house, still felt like it was a holiday resort room but lovely. The bed was extremely comfortable and you had choice of pillows which is great. The wardrobes and desk where all away so you didn't have mess in the room. The shower had great power and never ran out of water. I even used the bath one night and enjoyed a wine and relax. They have an ipod doc speaker which we used a lot especially when using the outside area (and we would have friends come regularly so gave it a good atmosphere). Mostly we loved the outside area, sunken lounge and deck with couches next to lap pool. They give you the most amazing breakfast on the deck in your room the day after you arrive (and they also gave us this the day after our wedding). The plunge pool was a good size, my only critism is on most days it was a little cold, i think it should have some heating. The first day when it was the hottest day it was warm, after that although the days were in high 20s, just wasn't hot enough to heat the pool. The staff were lovely, especialy Jimmy who is one of the drivers, if your high on the hill like we were we did take the buggy a fair bit, but also walked the hill a lot for exercise, but having over 60 wedding guests, we were up and down a lot, and sadly didn't get to spend as much time in villa as I would have liked. Some nights the buggy did take a while to arrive from down the hill and when I was alone I wasn't keen to walk up as it was a bit dark for my liking. The staff were usually very fast with any requests to the room not that we used it much, but on wedding day while getting ready they were bringing drinks up and ironing boards etc. They made our room all romantic with candles around the sunken deck and flowers etc the night before wedding then night of wedding when we got back they'd put things on the bed, little things that made me excited! The restaurant at the Shore is nice, it's modern type cuisine, fairly expenive with small meals, but thats what we expected and the food was delicious. The included buffet breakfast was good, and i'm gluten free and the chef made me bread, buns and muffins, way more food then i needed before wedding! I've had better buffets, it's not massive, but it's adequate and lovely food. We also enjoyed one night lying on the lounges near the restaurant and watching the sunset during cocktail hour. We didn't use the gym or wine bar so can't comment, sure fine. I had a manicure, it was fine, very tranquil but probably in future I would have gone across the road to a cheaper shop without all the frills. But the spa did look lovely and tranquil if your willing to spend the money. Anyway i highly recommend this place and just suggest not doing too many activities while there and enjoying the villa. As far as location, we picked this particularly to do with wedding not the accommodation. It's a short and cheap 25 min tuk tuk to patong for those who want a big night out, has a few restaurants that aren't part of resort for those who want a cheap feed and the beach is lovely and tranquil, and only 5 mins from Kata town for shopping etc and the Katathani itself has like 5 pools and lots of restaurants etc, so was perfect option for a wedding. Anyway we are glad we stayed at the Shore, we loved it.
Pay the extra and get a ocean view, you won't regret it!
