We rode our moped here and it was easy to find and park.
The staff at the bar (where you pay for treks) were friendly and spoke good english.
We chose the longest trek which was 50mins. I thought it was good value for money.
The elephants here DO seem well cared for, this is why we chose kok chang as i heard it was the best for this reason. We see many other treks on the way where the elephants looked in far worse shape and had no shelter from the sun and were basically on the road side! Kok chang had all the elephants under a shelter, none of them were chained by the roadside attracting customers and while we were there we see them being hosed down with water after every other customer.
It wasnt very busy and we got to ride straight away. The reason i gave this average and not very good was only because we also done one in Bangkok and in my opinion in was much much better! Our mahoot did not speak a word of english and this made it very hard when we were asking questions! The couple behind us got a lovely english speaking mahoot who seemed a lot more friendly than ours and was happy to talk to us.
We stopped at the top of the mountain and the mahoot did take some good photos for us. He did not ask for extra money and the trek was nice, even though our elephant was not the happiest! The mahoot only used words to guide him/her and did not hurt him/her in anyway! Once we got off we could leave a donation and feed the elephants as many bananas as we wished, which i thought was a nice touch! All in all a good experience but our mahoot and elephant could have been nicer, and we had a far better experience in Bangkok!
