“Beautiful hotel Excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2010

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in July. The rooms are beautiful, modern with attention to detail. The breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. I had a spa treatment which at 50% off was excellent value. The pool is well kept and a very enjoyable space. The free internet in the lobby and library are a real bonus. The hotel is up a rather steep hill but close to the beach and town. On the up side, we made a point of walking up the hill and stairs tour room on the sixth floor every single time for fitness and we each lost a couple of kilos. They also had a special dinner menu for 150baht(AUD$6.00) . It was delicious and excellent value for money. If you stay at this hotel, you will not be disappointed.

A boutique hotel with soul. My wife an I stayed for four nights with our 12 month old son, and wished we'd stayed 2 weeks. Tasteful modern decor, without trying to be too modern. The staff were just excellent throughout our stay, and could not do enough for us. Our son was well taken care of, and the subject of lots of attention from the caring staff. The room's are a great size, well appointed, and have a great AV set-up, that allows you to watch your holiday photos and videos in High Definition in the evenings. Breakfast was extensive, and again the service was wonderful. Love the crazy man at the egg station.. lots of fun! No hesitation in recommending this hotel to those that like a little luxury for a good price, and are looking for an alternative to the big resorts.

We booked Avista through Agoda whilst on Koh Samui in Thailand, after trawling through endless pages of hotels we finally decided on Avista for the last leg of our Thailand tour and WOW what a decision!

The hotel is GORGEOUS.... and wouldn't worry about the hill, its over before you know it, not once did we have to taxi up and down it... the grounds are lovely and well kept.

The rooms are large and spacious, king size bed, large flat screen tv, bottled water and clean towels daily.

Staff were helpful and cheery, couldn't do enough to help.... even gave us a free lift to Patong for a night out!

Pool is stunning, although had to move fast to get a bed... got very busy late morning, try the swim up poll bar! The cocktails are delicious, although a tad expensive! The Tuna Wrap was almost a daoily meal! Yummy!

As for Kata, loved it.... really nice family resturants and bars if you turn left at the bottom of the hill... watch of for the Flintstones resurant further down on your left, had a baby elephant outside whilst we were there AWWWWWWW

After exhaustive research on hotels in Kata beach we decided on Avista - a decision we will never regret. What you see and read about on their website is definitely what you'll get.

The hotel grounds are kept immaculate and the staff are extremely friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Our room was well appointed - comfy king size bed, large LCD TV, free wifi, shower and bath, free bottled water daily, balcony with comfy tub chairs from which to view the sun setting over the Andaman Sea. There are international power outlets already built into the walls so don't worry about bringing along your adaptor.

What can one say about the buffet breakfasts? I'll only mention that they included smoked salmon.

Obtaining a sun lounge whenever we wanted it was never a problem. Athough there is the potential for a lot of guests (the hotel has 140 rooms), the design of the hotel with its tiered pool areas and manicured gardens which enclose it into various sections gives the complex a cosy feel so that you don't feel like you're staying in a massive resort which is built around a large and open pool space like some of the hotels we were considering. There are even sun lounges built for two.

The gym is fitted out well and stocked with free water daily and there is also a games room and library.

It rained for much of our 12 night stay at Avista, sometimes for only a few hours a day, but with all the amenities in our room and around the grounds - we hardly even noticed.

The beach is only a 3min walk down a hill and to the right. Great eateries are only a 5min walk away. I'm embarrased to say it but we only travelled within a 300 metre radius of our hotel but it's definitely the holiday we needed and wanted.

We would most definitely stay at Avista again and already have and will continue to recommend it to our friends and family.

Avista Resort & Spa - stayed for a week in early June. Resort is NOT on de beach, located @ northern end of Kata beach & up a slope. It's only a 5min walk to Kata town center. Hotel grounds are multi-leveled. Amenities & facilities = Pools (x2), small gym, brekkie restaurant, wet weather recreational facilities(i.e. table tennis, pool table, darts), free Internet, spa & lobby. Again, I used hoteltravel.com for the booking of room, inclusive of brekkie.
It was a challenge each time using the rain shower as the water temperature was very difficult to regulate. Almost got scalded a few times.
The house-keeping staff keep track of every single piece of bath towel, floor towel, laundry bag, face towel, etc in the rooms. So don’t even think of ****** a few!
Ms. Matilda (Guest Experience Officer) would greet us each day and asked what we’re up to. She’s genuinely helpful in providing local knowledge and welcomes any form of quirks, complains, feedback and reviews of the rooms and hotel premises.
She even followed-up with an e-mail apologising for the short-comings of the room. I had a deluxe room on the 4th floor, overlooking de pool and the western horizon. Beautiful sunsets when it was not raining.
If staying for an extended period, laundry can be done by the kilo at one of the many shops/drop-offs in Kata town. Pretty good rate – abt 65baht/kilo. You need to count the number of pieces of clothing sent for laundry as no compensation for missing items.
Throughout my stay, I rented a Honda Jazz for transportation due to wet weather inclination in June. Rate was good – 6000baht for 7days, free delivery @ hotel & drop-off @ airport. Ventured all over the island with it. Should try the local weekend markets in Phuket Town or the one near Saphan Hin Mining Monument. This one has airy spaces, tables & chairs for consuming the food bought from vendors. Yummy!!!
There’s a Thursday local market on Kata New Rd(think that’s wad its called) for the those “food-adventure” type.

This was my first visit to Thailand and upon arriving at the Avista I was made to feel so welcome from the reception to the concierge . This friendliness was extended by all the hotels staff incl. the resturant, pool and house keeping my entire stay.
There is probably no need to leave the hotel as everything is catered for on site with the exception of live entertainment. Short walk down (steep hill) to beach or into KaTa however always Taxi or tuk tuk available.
Hotel is, I believe less than 12 months old so everything is fabulously new and working.
I had the Breakfast buffet every day for my 7 day stay and it was sensational both in quality and selection. (I'll qualify that by stating I have worked as a chef in five star hotels for over twenty years) I also ate in house on two evenings and this was of excellant taste and reasonbly priced. (be aware of the two taxs to be added)
Would love to see live fish put in the entrance pond.
