“Great hotel TRY IT”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

This hotel has impressed us a lot, we loved the room, it was close to the beach, but it is difficult for people who walk bad because of the road, but there is daily hotelbus to City and beach so it is possible.
Manager named Ale from the restaurant was a perfect host when we eat there(he remembered us as hale blue boy brand bottle) good service from him.
We are diffently coming back to this hotel

We recommend this hotel highly

We spent 7 days at Avista Resort & Spa in December 2014. The resort is amazing, beautifully-designed, peaceful but very close to all main attractions in Kata beach. The hotel has a wonderful pool area surrounded by lots of greenery which is very good in hot and sunny days. We stayed at the Club room at 5th floor - simply amazing room, huge and with a beautiful view on the bay. Wi-fi is free and available everywhere.
Regarding the "terrible uphill slope" mentioned by some visitors, it is actually a steep walk but actually no more than 3 minutes and nothing so terrible. The hotel is 5-minute walk from Kata beach, and same distance from Kata village and all its shops, restaurants, etc. The hotel is even at walking distance from Karon beach (15-minute walk), so very convenient.
Regarding the staff: absolutely wonderful! A special thank to Ms Abbey who made our stay even better, always smiling and very helpful - she is great!

I just came back from a week's visit from Phuket. We stayed at Avista for 4D3N and it was the best. Avista Kata is located in a corner, up the hill away from the hustle and bustle. Very different from the Patong area, which I enjoyed.

We arrived at the resort late at night and was welcomed by the sweetest guest service staff, Cherrie. She made the whole check-in process hassle-free and fast. Upon reaching our room, my boyfriend and I were surprised by the "Happy Birthday" decor on the bed as well as a birthday cake in the fridge. It was definitely a good start for us already.

The facilities of the resort includes reading room, pool room, gym, children's playroom and swimming pool, spa. The whole resort is well-maintained and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The resort is close to everything so it was very convenient. The beach is only like a 5-10 mins walk away.

The rooms are very spacious and well-equipped. They even have a list of different kinds of pillows for you to choose from for a good night's sleep, you just gotta request from them. They have shuttle services to Patong area at 12pm and 5pm respectively and they provide a return shuttle service as well at 6pm and 11pm. It's a 15mins ride to Patong area.

Even though many commented that the hill walk up to the resort was tiring but I wasn't really that bothered about it.

Overall, it was definitely worth every penny and I will definitely choose Avista again. Thanks for the great experience.

Room Tip: You might not want to choose rooms that are at level 2 as its a common path to the swimming pool and...

I returned from the Avista Phuket Resort and Spa in late December after a fairly long stay. Like the title says, I didn't want to leave. The staff are great. The hotel is immaculately clean. I was on the fifth floor of the building, above reception, and stayed in room 501. I was shocked upon arrival. It is a corner room with perhaps the best view available of the beach. We got it on a 60% off Tripadvisor discount, making it a little more than 100 US per night. I have travelled extremely extensively through East and Southeast Asia so am familiar with the usual complaints, such as moisture and must in rooms. My room had no smell of any kind (other than that of crisp, fresh, linen). The bathroom had no smell; it was large and well appointed for the price. The balcony overlooking the beach and sea, and with a lovely sunset view, was totally private. You could sit out there in your birthday suit if you wanted and no one be any the wiser.

The pools were very well cared for, not overpowered by whatever chemicals are used to keep them sanitary. There are a fair number of lounges available, but the selfish custom employed by some Europeans of laying claim to them by leaving a personal possession on the one of their choice is in effect. You've (unfortunately) got to follow suit, especially when the hotel is busy. I suggest going out before breakfast and placing a book or some such thing where you wish to lie. If you wish not to roast in the sun, there are six lounges up at the top of the stairs on the right that have good shade.

Now to the buffet: First of all, it is worth noting that Avista is a fairly small resort, catering to a much smaller number of guests than the mega-properties. Thus the buffet is less diverse. Still, they do well to accomodate all tastes. Being a middle aged white guy who lives in Asia, and who eats a wide variety of Asian food regularly, I want Western food for breakfast when I travel. On the down side, the juice is not freshly squeezed; there are no Italian women in bikinis stomping out grape juice. What do you expect for a hundred bucks a night? On the plus side, the guys doing the eggs make terrific omelettes. They even do over easy, a rarity in this part of the world. All in all, breakfast was something I looked forward to. Sadly, I managed to gain two kilos. I thought I'd lose weight, fat chance. Here is what I consider the absolute most important thing I have to say about the food at Avista - I never once had stomach troubles. A big, big plus in that part of the world. I only ate lunch at Avista a few times, and it was fine.

My only complaint about the hotel was drinks we had one night on the roof. My wife and I each had a mojito and a margarita. The alcohol content seemed pretty close to non existent.

Now the famous hill: I am a middle aged guy in fair shape. I smoke cigarettes. The hill is a two or three minute slog that is a bit of a bummer after a day of eating like a pig and drinking at the beach. But once you get to the top, you've got the awesome view to look forward to. The walk is not half as bad as some make it out to be.

Bad reviews: I read the occasional bad review for Avista. It strikes me that these are the kinds of people who would find something to complain about if their lunch was prepaired by god.

I guess that's about all I have to say. I hope this was of some help. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Room 501 (in the building where reception is located) is clean, quiet, with a very private balcony a...

Stayed with my husband and two teenage children in December 2014. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was brilliant and catered for many different nationalities. Rooms were very large and spacious. Great location on a hill overlooking Kata beach. Easy to walk to restaurants and shops.

The staff and service at the hotel is outstanding. Always smiling and always willing to help. We had great contact with Abbey in the reception. What a lovely girl with a lovely smile! The rooftop bar was nice with great views over Kata beach. The hotel is close to everything and has a lovely pool with a lot of greenery. Rooms are very modern but a lot of noise from the corridor passes thru the front door which affect your sleep in the morning. We were also missing more fruits and fruitsallad at the breakfast.

Over all we had a great stay at Avista!

Merry Christmas!

Peter and Anna from Sweden (room 315)
