5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

Stayed at Villa Elisabeth in Studio Apartment 4 for four weeks in February 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Fabulous accommodation for a long stay to escape the British winter!
This wonderful small boutique hotel comprises of three different types of accommodation. Villas (3), Studio apartments (6) and deluxe rooms. No telephones in rooms but free WiFi. There is also the popular and highly regarded Bella Vista restaurant.
It is located on a headland at the southern end of Kata Beach and visitors have fantastic views of Kata Beach and the Big Buddha Monument on the distant hillside.
Studio 4 was an excellent choice. It is the best studio being at first floor level and catches the early morning sun despite being amongst very tall trees.
Villa Elisabeth comprises of numerous levels and there are lots of steps to negotiate between car park, studios, villas and sun terrace. Also lots of steps leading from restaurant to beach. Not ideal for anyone with walking disabilities or less energetic holidaymakers.
Studio 4 had a fantastic 'vaulted' ceiling. Lovely surprise! (see my other Trip advisor review of Studio Apartment 4). The villas are lovely but have a higher price tag.
All of the villas and studio apartments (bar one) are privately owned but rented out and managed by Villa Elisabeth Hotel. Having seen a number of them inside, each one has been kitted out with the same equipment and furnishings, however, each owner has added extra items of their personal choice which makes them slightly different.
Rental costs included provision of bathrobes, tissues, toilet paper, beach towels and two small bottles of water every day. Also, small 'welcome' bottles of shampoo and shower gel. Didn't expect any of these so it was an added bonus.
All day breakfast included in price, provided in the lovely Bella Vista restaurant. No pressure to get to breakfast 'on time'. Time is of your choosing. Not 'buffet style' but served to your individual order by friendly attentive staff. Enough choice to vary, if desired.
Martin, Chaw and Zaw were my favourite members of staff. Always friendly and made me feel most welcome.
I had a number of evening meals in the Bella Vista restaurant which were excellent and most enjoyable with the candle lit tables. Good choices of dishes (Thai and International) and although more expensive than other eateries on the beach, it was well worth the extra for the quality and quantity of food, staff service and ambience.
Villa Elisabeth occupies a great location, very private and peaceful but within 5 mins walk of restaurants, shops, supermarket, massage places. 15 mins or 20 mins to the much busier parts of Kata depending on whether you walk along the beach or main road.
Everything is so easy to access from here. I loved the peace and quiet of the landscaped setting. Disliked the midnight fireworks on the beach which can't be controlled by the police.
3 mins walk away from the studios, there is a very efficient laundry, a very competitively priced supermarket, ATM's, shops and an excellent massage place (the Tum Rub Thai).
20 mins walk to the beautiful Kata Noi beach which is quieter than Kata Beach (1 min walk down the steps from Bella Vista restaurant).
Villa Elisabeth is extremely popular and gets booked up very quickley by return guests (like me). I reserved Studio Apartment 4 for 2013 before I flew back to England and would recommend early booking for anyone thinking of staying here.
Ae Chan needs a special mention. He was an excellent manager, very friendly and looked after all the guests. He made everyone feel extremely welcome. Sadly, I have heard he is no longer at Villa Elisabeth.
Highly recommended.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

Had the cheapest room with the best view. The room was nice and clean although it did smell a little mouldy. We couldn't be bothered to complain as the room had the best view ever & even opened the bi-fold doors at night & woke up to the noise of the waves. The beach is right at your feet & my husband & I would wake up each morning, go for a walk & swim then have breakfast.

Breakfast is delicious & the staff are very friendly. The owner Elisabeth greeted us on arrival & was very friendly.

I would not recommend this hotel maybe to unfit people or anyone with knee problems as the steps to the beach are steep, unless you go round the long way.

Also, it was very noisy at night until early morning from the "Ska" bar. The music is hip hop & repetitive. I knew this before I booked & it didn't bother me but it is very loud. Apparently you can't hear it from the villa rooms behind our room but there is no sea view.

We didn't have dinner at the resort as it was dearer but "Mamas seafood" next door on the beach has amazing food decently priced. We also didn't use the smallish pool as you have a beautiful beach just right under you, closer in distance than the pool. The pool looked like it needed a good clean though.

Overall I would definitely recommend this private accommodation & would book again. It's value for money & I you won't find a room with this type of view & access around this stretch of beach.

Room Tip: There is no fitness centre but I did a rating. Can't remove it as I'm on my iPad. If you...

Dear LyndalKry:

thanks for your good review about us. We always try to do an effort to our guests and make they time here nice and happy.

I recognize the distribution of Villa Elisabeth is not properly for handicap people or just people who don't like stairs, but is the natural location of the villa.

About our business neighbors, is true the guests can enjoy other options around the villa, and about the reggae bar, they don't play high music and never after midnight, but if our future guests don't like ear any kind of music or noise, the best options are the studios-apartments, and if want enjoy the sea view and have a quiet location, the very best choice are our villas.

Best regards from Thailand.

Loved this place. Good value for money for room, and a variety of ranges in price. We stayed in the cheapest room and had absolute beachfront views, and a private balcony. Restaurant a little pricier than some around, but beautiful setting, good food, great service, so worth paying the little extra for all that. Really fine breakfast included in room rate, and can have it any time of night or day, loved that. The staff are so very lovely, watch out for Martin he'll make you laugh.

What a great find: right on the beach, beautiful room, tastefully decorated. Breakfast is included with no time limitation, which helps when on holiday. Very relaxing atmosphere. "A", the manager, is a wonderful host. The only drawback is the repetitive reggae music from the Ska bar right below our room. Other than that, it is a perfect spot of a relaxing vacation.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the Ska bar

Dear Burbank:

thank you very much for your good review, we try to satisfy every guest who put his trust on us.
About the reggae bar, we have to say is a very small thai bar, on the beach, so I think must be illegal, they play reggae music but never until late and is close since time ago.

Best regards.

I really loved staying at Villa Elisabeth, the views are amazing ! The staff are always there for help and provided great service. The breakfast was really good and worth it. It has many surrounding restaurants and bars on the beach. Coming back to stay hopefully next year !!

Room Tip: The Thai house rooms have the best views
