I stayed here in June 2011 with two friends for 6 nights. As it was low season we got a poolside room in first floor at an excellent low price and we felt like kings living at this quite luxurious hotel in Kata beach. It's not far to walk to the beach (5 min) and the pool at the hotel is awesome. Our room was very comfy and modern with an open bathroom and a nice balcony where you could jump into the pool. The service is also great and the breakfast was one of the best I experienced in Thailand. Definitely recommend this hotel, especially in the low season when you can make a pretty good deal here!

Tropical Resort is in a pretty good location, easy to find and near to restaurants and only a 5-10 minute walk from the gorgeous beach. Kata Beach is nice (especially for families) in that it is far more laid back than Patong and you aren't faced at every turn with bars, hookers and pushy touts.
The hotel rooms are spacious and well appointed and those on the ground level have patio doors that give access directly to the salt water pool. Like most construction in Thailand there are a few rough edges but that is common since they often throw up these buildings as fast and cheaply as possible.
Staff got the job done but we expected them to be more relaxed and to smile more than they did but we did catch the famous Thai smiles here and there.
Food and drink are a bit on the expensive side but we learned that Phuket is one of the most expensive destinations in all of Thailand.

Serious paradise!! My bf and I arrived quite late at night after a very long 15 hours of flights and airports to tropical resort telling us that the "elekitec was broken" and that we had been upgraded to a poolside room. After about 20 mins of being in the room with no power, it came back on and we saw what a true paradise this place was!! our balcony literally was the side of the pool!

The room was a very good size and the bathroom was great with a bath and large shower. This is one of those places that doesnt actually have a door to shut off the bathroom from the bedroom - so if you are someone who really needs your privacy it might be best looking elsewhere. In saying that though, the bathroom gave us enough pricay to be comfortable. The places was very clean and the staff were very friendly - although sometimes we struggled with language difficulties. The poolbar was great, I was served pina coladas in a coconut and most of the time we were some of the only people at the pool area.

Shops and resturaunts and the beach were a 5min stroll away - and one day we walked over to karon beach with took around 30 mins. There is also a bus that goes right past the front door that is CHEAP compared to taxis (which tend to have set rates and dont seem very interested in bargaining about it).

I would DEFINITELY reccommend this resort - especially if like us, you can get a really cheap deal on asiarooms.com!!

After overpaying at Sawasdee Village, we stayed at the Tropical Resort. The rooms were large, clean and worth every penny. The pool was lovely and relaxing. The hotel is a close walk to the beach and restaurants. We really enjoyed staying here and saving money so we could scuba dive and eat at wonderful restaurants. Thumbs up! (The restaurant/breakfast is not great. However, for the amount we saved on the room, we ate at lovely restaurants that were located in close proximity.).
