Facilities are not as nice as they appear in the pictures, so please make sure that you are only expecting at 2.5-3 star experience. They will try to give you a lesser room than the one that you booked, if they do not give you what you booked make sure you say something. DO NOT BOOK ANY TOURS FROM THE HOTEL! They will either try to rip you off or sell you on a horrible tour that does no match the description. The customer service at this hotel was very poor.

the location is good, but beach is dirty with plastic bags
pool is noisy and over crowded
the break fast is average , many times during the stay the buffet breakfast items were not refilled . even many people were still eating sharp at 10am ---the coffee mugs were switched off and all the items cleared ( break fast finishes at 10 am)
we had dinner in the restuarant , food is good but service is very poor as we had to ask for the napkins , knifes and forks
resort is old and needs renovating

Room Tip: we paid for deluxe sea view room -----got a pool access room you have to be certain to ask for a...

Stayed at Kata Beach Resort 8 nights, April 2013. Fantastic place, even better location, lovely staff. Lovely clean resort, yummy breckys, didnt eat here for other meals so cant comment, beautiful pools, beautiful view over the beach, would not hesitate to stay again and we will the second our bank balance allows it! The beach location is the best, the beach beautiful, clean and deep for great swimming. The little marqee/shop on the beach to the immediate left at bottom of the stairs on beach is the place to eat and drink. The friendliest thai/burmese staff ever with really cheap and yummy food and drinks. We did nearly all out shopping on the beach from the great sellers that love a friendly barter and are just as happy to leave you alone should you wish. Plenty of cheap eats and drinks all closeby to this resort. Cafe Opera a great restaurant with great entertainment! Really dont understand any of the negative comments posted here except that maybe these people are VERY hard to please or dont know how to treat the staff with the courtesy or friendliness they totally deserve. The little security guard on the gate (cant remember his name) is the greatest guy with the best thai smile and salute ever!

Room Tip: Stayed in room 2408, stunning sea view from balcony for superior room price!

We have stayed at Kata Beach Resort and Spa in August 2011 and late July early August 2012. We had a fantastic time both trips, we would definately consider another stay here but this year Koh Samui is on the cards. The only down fall we found both years was the large extended French family who stayed the sametime both years and seemed to consider they had first right of pick on location for beachside seating, needless to say a few kiwi couples soon worked it out and we had a great time with beach front beach chairs.
Location is superb with little need to walk further than a couple of hundred metres to a variety of eateries ranging in cost. We were pleased to have a chance to dine at the Boat House in 2012 for my husband birthday as it was closed in 2011 for renovations. The food and service were outstanding, however we had meals other nights that were great for 99 baht.

Room Tip: Block 2 overlooking the pool level three or four

We have just returned from staying 15 nights at Kata Beach Resort & Spa.

On arrival, we were dealt with by the "My Time" rep, Maria, a lovely lady who gave us all the info on what the hotel had to offer, and what our deal entitled us to ( she did miss a thing or two, but we are savvy and she dealt with those things immediately as they were pointed out to her). Maria was the only staff member who greeted you each day, without a prompt.

I had communicated, via email, with one of the management staff weeks before our arrival to ensure a decently positioned room, and we were not disappointed.
Room 2317 was 3rd floor, overlooking the pool-side eating area and the view from the balcony was perfect, able to see the beach, mid view was sparkling ocean through the sparse trees and the far view was sea and horizon which made for the most wonderful sunsets ........ Just perfect!!

Room is large, with King size double bed and a small built in couch in the bay style window between room and balcony.
Bathroom had over-bath shower which was OK. No electric plug , but a shaver socket there and a very old fashioned wall mounted hairdryer.
Nice balcony furniture, free locking safe to use, good lighting, fridge/mini-bar, coffee & tea making stuff, laundry service cheap as chips and very reliable, air con was good, needed fixing once, rang down at 10pm - fixed and room lovely and cool by 10:45. Satellite TV.
Decor and fixtures and fittings are dated, but fully functional.
Our room maid was exceptional, friendly, utra-helpful and reliable, we were greeted on arrival to the room with the lovely fragrance of an oil-burner, so we went to the little super-market on the left of the main gate and bought some nice oil for it and she ensured we had fresh tea lights for the burner every day and would leave it lit for us after her daily room clean.

The airy Lobby and Hall area is lovely, lifts are slow.

Food. A great buffet breakfast, with masses of choices, worth the money, but coffee is a bit dire.
We didn't have dinner at the main restaurant, so cannot comment, but I will say we examined the buffet laid out for a couple of private functions and it looked amazing.
Lunch was good out of the poolbar, and the do bargain bbq chickens & ribs too.
@ Beach Restaurant is a stand-out here and should be visited. The outside tables next to the smaller swimming pool that overlook the beach are fabulous, giving the same outlook and ambiance as the more up-market Boathouse Restaurant further along the beach. Food was excellent too.
There is actually an Italian Restaurant open every night, overlooking the main pool. In 2 weeks, we did not see one person use it.

Pool area is brilliant, swim up bar a must-do at sunset. ( or anytime for that matter!! )

NEWS !!!!!!!! ...................... There is now a poolside sign and laminated warning info page in each room to say ................. GUESTS MAY NOT RESERVE SUNBEDS !!!! ...... OK, they can , but only for an hour, if belongings are left and the beds are not used for an hour , the management will remove your (their) belongings and free up the sunbed for other guests ( we found only when you ask them to, reluctantly!!, ..... However , it is a breakthrough.

We found, if you go down before showering and breakfast, get your towels, drape them over your chosen sunbeds, shower and go eat breakfast and return to your sunbeds, that was reasonable and accepted practice.

Beach was fabulously accessible, stairs lead onto it between 2 beach stalls/bars and your beers were almost half the price as they were from the poolside bar.
Ditto for the massage treatments, there are massage beds right next to one of the beach bars.
Our practice for a day on the beach was ......... on rising, shorts on, 1 of you goes down to the beach with your towels ( yes , they allow you to take them), see the sunbed guy and choose your front row beds, shower and breakfast and then off to your beach beds. .... Bliss!!

In the left corner of the beach is a beautifully rustic area under the shade of a huge Banyan tree, nestled here are 3 great local food restaurants and perfect for the most wonderful lunches. All serving the same standard of food and drinks, but with an outlook to die for ..... Paradise.

On a negative point, The beach is a little littered, plastic bags etc. The worse for me was that there are a hell of a lot of ciggie stumps just strewn around. FREAKIN' DISGUSTING, and you will see the culprits. ........ They are making Kata Beach into one huge ASHTRAY.

Staff. Friendly, when you are, otherwise, pretty nonchalant.

Overall ........... A great place to holiday.

Position is stunning, one of only 4 hotels in the whole of Patong, Karon and Kata to be actually ON the resort's main beach.
Beach is good, beach facilities better.
Hotel facilities are great.
Food is good.
Rooms, dated but comfortable.

So, ............ Going? ......... Don't worry, you'll have a great time.

Room Tip: Room 2317. On the 3rd floor of what they call building 2 ( that's what the first digit of the ro...

We stayed for 5 nights, in April 2013, and after reading some bad reviews, I was a little worried. There was no need, I really don't know what some people expect for the money they spend. The room was clean and spacious, bed comfy. The breakfast was ok, plenty of fresh fruit, eggs cooked to your liking , good bread and pastries. We didn't eat any other meals at the hotel. Service was good staff friendly, especially Maria, Customer Relations, very helpful. It is a great location, in the on the beach. A good choice in Kata at a fair price.

Room Tip: We had a corner room on the second floor,at the back, best to try and avoid front of hotel, as I exp...

The rooms, restaurants, pools, all the facilities and especially the staff were great. We had the 2 rooms on the end of the building on the curve, 2237 and 2239 which made them a little larger than the centre ones, great size rooms, clean and serviced daily. Their nightly buffet is only 699 baht or $21 great value or you have a huge choice of restaurants just outside the hotel where you can get great meals from only 200 baht. We also loved the banana pancake stall outside the hotel and at only 40 baht each a bargain. The kids loved the Flow rider (water surfing machine) around the corner from 1000 baht an hour, the longer you go for the cheaper it gets. As the hotel does not have its own private beach area you have to pay for a lounge on the beach but at only 100 baht a day you can't complain about that. There are heaps of water activities as well, jetski, parasailing etc and not to expensive. Massages on the beach 400 baht or from 300 baht by the pool, both were great. Meals by the pool are good and the pool side BBQ has great ribs and BBQ chickens, 300 baht for a whole chicken. It was cheaper to book your days tours from the little stalls outside the hotel. We found all the staff members polite and courteous and they could not do enough to make us feel welcome and to attend to our every need.
Getting to and from Patong was only a 400 baht cab ride each way and the same for a tuktuk which the kids preferred. We were there during the water festival this April crazy time but great, just walk around in your swimmers and T shirts because you will get drenched.
Overall great hotel and location and will be going back again.

Room Tip: The rooms we had were called a deluxe room on the end curve of the hotel, southern end 2237 & 22...
