“Lovely stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2014

Amazing little place, walkable distance from Yate and Chipping sodbury, but out of the way enough to relax. Food is what you expect. Nice beer on tap, Handsome, Hot and friendly staff.
Lovely little garden, decent breakfast

Not a bad word to say about the room, delightful space for our family.

Did I mention the beautiful staff?

I am very pleased that you enjoyed our lovely Cotswold hotel and gardens. I’m not sure I would suggest that everyone try the walk from Chipping Sodbury or Yate, but nevertheless I am glad you enjoyed your time here with your family.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights.I read somewhere that the Queen stopped here
in 1961! I thought if it was good enough for her then it is good enough for us!!

I cannot speak too highly of the hotel,or the staff. The menu is very varied and well priced.

There is a bus stop outside of the hotel that can take you to Bath,Bristol or just 10 mins.
away to Tate where there is a LARGE shopping centre,A must for the ladies!

WE enjoyed ourselves in the evening so were unable to drive the next day!

Go there and you will not be disappointed!

We were hiking the Cotswold Way and this hotel was about a mile from the path. Big enough room, helpful staff, especially the front desk staff person, Carolyn, who was great in helping us track down our bags. Restaurant was only ok, but very busy with events and since therearen't many other places nearby to eat.

Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us here at the Cross Hands Hotel. We are glad you found the front of house team helpful, and we recommend a Sunday or Monday night for a less busy dining experience.

Popped in on a Saturday early evening, we hadn't booked, there was a wedding on & restaurant was fully booked. Only 2/3 staff serving so very busy, staff were mostly fine except for one young lady who perhaps not their best asset! They'd run out of one of the starters on specials board, but were too busy to let anyone know. Food took an age to come & we sat looking at our plates a lot of the time! Food very average. Won't be rushing to go back despite being fairly local!

Stopped for dinner on way to Oxford.
Looked lovely and friendly staff and well kept beer.
I had ultimate burger, ultimately rubbish prob the worst pub meal I have ever had.
The bun came out black, seriously, where it was over toasted and was like charcoal on one edge and the 2 burgers were drier than a sunburnt Ryvita, I thought it was a space meal you had to rehydrate. I don't eat sauce but had to use it to enable me to swallow my food.
Wife had spicy Beef which was beef with piri piri sauce, 2 hours later was on the Imodium.
Usually I would have complained and had another meal cooked, but we were on a mega tight schedule to get to Oxford.
Avoid like the plague.

Thank you for taking the time to visit us here at The Cross Hands and whilst we’re glad you enjoyed the beer and staff friendliness, we are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your meals.
The Ultimate burger is usually a very popular dish but the spicy beef salad with chipotle sauce is a little too spicy for some.
We will review the dishes and hope that it does not deter you from visiting in the future.

Breakfast was excellent too.. Very good fresh selection, and plenty of it... Only slight niggle was our room needed hoovering ... Which was attended to as soon as we asked. Would definitely visit again

Many thanks for your review following your recent stay. We’re glad you appreciated the 12 bottle whiskey selection of single, blended and aged malts. They are always popular in the winter months.

Stayed Friday night in a group of 11 cycling to the West Country. From the first enquiry about facilities for bike storage the staff were very helpful and pleasant. Great value food and drink and comfortable rooms. If you have a choice though ask not to be in the rooms on the road side of the hotel - its quite busy at night. Highly recommended
