With a great location and it's nice spacious rooms - this hotel is a gem.
Eventhough their motto is 'Be kind' - I must admit that I have never been to a hotel where the staff were so helpfull and in all trying to meet our needs. We had a late flight out of Jo'burg and really needed a late check out as my son was sick. The manager in charge went out of her way to make us comfetable and ensured us that we could check out at 3 pm.
We were meet with a smile from everyone at the hotel - the guy at the gate, the cleaning ladies and of couse the guys at reception desk.

THANK you for making our stay a pleasent one and we will surely be back next time in Jo'burg.

We were visiting Johannesburg for a quick trip and we stayed again at this City Lodge - close to Sandton City Shopping Centre. The lodge has now improved the availability of an adjacent restaurant - Carpe Diem - excellent value and very friendly staff. No need to journey oput for the relasxing evening meal.

Firstly I would like to say that the staff at this hotel were extremely helpful and the room quite comfortable but unfortunately I ate there and it made me terribly ill . I spent the night throwing up . It would have been nice to have had cold water available in a fridge (neither of these does the room have) as I was unsure if the tap water was ok to drink so felt very dehydrated. The following morning my husband chose to have breakfast and after placing his order was unaware that you then had to order it yet again. After seeing the food being handled by hand he chose not to eat it especially having seen me retching all night. The general manager was extremely helpful and could not apologies enough and is getting the food tested but having spent the previous week on a safari eating from only a Braai it was rather sad to get ill at a hotel.

This hotel served its purpose as a pleasant, relaxing overnight stay. It s very well positioned in the heart of Sandton, close to the highway, Sandton City mall and the Gautrain station. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms a good size, with everything required for the one night stay. Breakfast was an extra cost, but well worth it. The hotel also has a nice swimming pool and fitness room. On the downside, the bathroom had not been cleaned thoroughly, which is always a turn off in my view.

Room Tip: Families can hire two inter leading rooms and extra sofa beds are provided for those with more than...

It was good enough for me - you can easily take a walk to Nelson Mandela Square and you can connect to OR Tambo from the nearest Gautrain station with no hassles.

The room I stayed in could have been lovelier with a mini-bar. If you don't want to eat in there's convenience of deliveries and the numbers of most service providers are readily available.

I stayed on business, the room was vary spacious , clean, the hotel had a nice pool area , the staff was responsive, not too many smiles but they did help. The room service was good but I had to go to the bar to bring my own food to the room, and waited 30-40 min before I was called to pick up the desert (something related to the fridge lock). I would use the same hotel if I go back to South Africa and Johannesburg.
