“Reliable, basic accomodation with a good location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2012

We didn't spend much time here so I can't give much detail, but overall, I found it just what I needed in a hotel: clean, functional, I felt secure, & it provided what you need 7 expect in a City Lodge - kettle, clean bathroom, TV, comfortable bed, etc. Was a bit of a 'schlepp' to get my suitcase up 2 flights of stairs to my room though! Breakfast was average selection, but everything seemed fresh & tasted good. If you're looking for basic, reliable accomodation, this is for you!
To eat, we went to The Whiteboy Shebeen which is on the same property - really good afro-fusion-style food that's just a little bit quirky, with good service.

City lodge and chain of hotels are very good budget hotels, this one is very well located near Sandton where all biz offices and your meeting will be and to the shopping centers.
Secure, clean ...great service and good food. The staff is very professional and give you all advises for your stay in Joburg...
Remarks if anything...they should. Ot charge for Internet and TV cables will be a plus...

Room Tip: Your budget biz hotel

The hotel is well situated in Sandton, with easy access to Katherine Street. Staff were friendly and the room was clean and tastefully decorated. My room overlooked the pool, which meant that it was quiet - eventhough the hotel is situated on a busy intersection.Staff friendly & helpful. Breakfast selection was good.

We would like to thank Hotel Meninas for our unforgettable experience.

Hotel Meninas has a wonderful old European feel with the benefits of modern fittings.
The breakfast was delicious and the service was excellent! They accommodated us with a late check out and the use of a room before we had to go to the airport.
Kind hospitality, advise, friendly service and answering of endless questions are only to mention a few of the great qualities we experienced at Hotel Meninas.
The Wi-fi is the only small problem, as it only connects on the first floor and the lobby.
We will definitely be back and highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel has all the amenities required for a short business trip. Location is excellent in the heart of Sandton, easy to find and access from one of the major highways. Service at the front desk, bar and breakfast was efficient and better than many South African establishments. Room was functional. Crisp sheets, nice TV, tea and coffee making facilities, stunning bath and adequate shower. Room was silent and the bed was comfy so the sleep quality was excellent. Overall room is a bit outdated and in need of an overall upgrade. No elevator to the second floor which I found strange. Had a few drinks at the bar with a colleague and the service was excellent. The breakfast was buffet style with everything under the sun. I understand why they have to charge R100 but I would offer a simpler option for half the price. I would recommend this hotel for business and not pleasure.

Pretty standard business hotel/motel. Great breakfast (though pricey at R 100+), small pool, nice coutyard garden, wireless expensive and slow in some rooms. Felt safe and OK for 4 day stay.

The hotel was just fine. Big and clean room, great bed, the check-in was quick and everything was OK. But when I asked for an extra help from the hotel (i.e. a two-hours late check-out) they denied (even considering that my room would not be occupied and that the hotel was pretty much empty in that day).

Whenever I'm travelling I want my hotel to take care of me and help me to relax and enjoy my trip. In this case, they didn't do it.

So, only go to this hotel if you are expecting them to deliver just the basic (although efficient) service they have to.
