“We'll add our praises!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2011

My husband and I stayed at La Bihouderie for five nights. We stayed on the second level in the room named Les Tournesols, a beautiful room with a modern bathroom. La Bihouderie also has rooms at ground level, but we wanted to see the countryside from a distance.

In addition to the usual chateaux, we would recommend making a day trip to Loches and to nearby Montresor.

The other reviews here on Trip Advisor are true. It was a great place to stay.

I travelled to France with my girlfriend to celebrate our joint birthdays and we picked this lovely B&B to stay in for 3 nights in the Loire. It's located only 10 minutes from the city of Loches, yet is in beautiful and quiet farmland. We stayed in the family suite, which was made up of 2 large bedrooms with a curtain you could pull between the 2 rooms. The walls are stone (and quite thick) and room is decorated in shades of white and beige - very tasteful and very comfortable. I slept like a baby. Our bathroom had 2 sinks, a shower, AND a bathtub and was very large. The toilet was in a separate room. We had a door which opened onto the backyard where there were tables and chairs to sit, relax, and have a glass of wine. The sunsets from there were beautiful. All room share a common living area, with a kitchen table and lots of comfortable seating, and a TV if you want to watch something. There is a small kitchen with fridge, small oven and a couple of burners so that you can cook dinner if you like. Our hostess, Naomi, was so warm and welcoming and made us feel part of the family. Her breakfasts were delicious and included her own homemade jams and yogurt. The location is great for touring the Loire - it's very central to most of the chateaux. We loved it and would go back in a heartbeat. For us, it was perfect!!

Room Tip: The room we stayed in would work for 2 people travelling together, like us, or for 2 couples, or a f...

My girlfriend and I booked the family room, which was actually a 2 bedroom suite with a door leading directly out to the serene yard in the back. Every night we were treated to a spectacular sunset settling across the vast and lush farmland. Spacious and comfortable, not even a rooster could be heard through the thick stone walls. Naomi has given the farmhouse a modern touch, with a crisp white on stone treatment, but with a warmth befitting the old architecture. The farm is centrally located to so many chateaux, making it a Loire paradise.Breakfast included Naomi's home made jams, breads and fruit yogurt. Naomi is originally from England, but is fluent in French, so this is a gem for visitors with limited French. I would definitely go back, given the chance.

Room Tip: Our rooms were very spacious, perfect for 2 couples or a family of 4 to share. Bathroom included mo...

We stayed for one night on our way back to Cherbourg and had two rooms which were both spacious with very comfortable beds . Our hostess, Naomi, was charming and prepared a great supper for the four of us which was delicious and much appreciated. Naomi was also very knowledgeable about the Loire area and filled with enthusiasm about all the places to go and see which made us wish we could have stayed longer and certainly encouraged us to make another trip to France to visit her area. We had two very minor reservations. One was that the agent through whom we had made the booking sent us old details which meant we had a little difficulty finding the farmhouse. And secondly, the shower areas of our bathrooms were in need of a little tlc - although as we were only there for one night this did not detract from our enjoyment. A beautiful place in a beautiful area.

We have just spent a few days in the Loire Valley. This time we stayed at La Bihourderie near Loches. We felt very welcome and really enjoyed our stay there.

We had an upstairs room which was very tastefully decorated and had the bonus of great views over open countryside. We liked the fact that there was a guest’s lounge where you could make yourself a drink or even a snack, as well watch the television. One evening we ate with the rest of the guests and shared a delicious meal and very pleasant company. The breakfasts were copious and included yummy home-made cake.

La Bihourderie is in a very quiet setting, but is ideally situated for visiting the tourist attractions of the beautiful Loire Valley. We will certainly return there next time we visit that part of France again.

We just returned from an absolutely delightful stay at La Bihourderie. The host and hostess are charming and welcoming, making us truly feel as though we were guests in their home. They have renovated the house to make it comfortably modern without sacrificing 13th century charm. The rooms are lovely and comfortable, with renovated bathrooms. This B&B is located in a gorgeous, quiet rural setting but still within easy reach of at least a dozen of the loveliest chateaus in the Loire Valley. We were able to visit two per day.

We’ve never been to a B&B as charmingly romantic as this one. The house and rooms are beautifully decorated. It is surrounded on all sides by wheat fields, yet is near enough to the medieval town of Loches for restaurants, shopping, and touring the fascinating old town. The quiet is deep and relaxing. An outdoor sitting area allows for a quiet evening sipping wine and socializing with the other guests. The hostess, Naomi, is British and is always willing to talk at length about the house, the town, and the points of interests to tourists. She also very helpfully translated what French-speaking guests were saying to us at the breakfast table so we could get to know them.

Naomi serves wonderful croissants (including chocolate!) for breakfast from a local bakery, as well as the most delicious homemade cherry jam I have ever tasted. We had wonderful dinners twice while we were there. Naomi is a fine cook, and the Friday night dinner was fabulous. She also makes all sumptuous the desserts herself. Her husband Francis, who is French, is the charming host. He serves the wine, carefully chosen to compliment the dinner.

Our trip was made lovely, gracious, and romantic thanks to our stay at La Bihourderie. Book a reservation without fear.

I cannot believe that anyone could genuinely find fault with this wonderful place - I suspect these people were trying for a discount. We have enjoyed many holidays here. The setting and accommodation are faultless, and you can certainly expect a friendly and caring reception. There are plenty of interesting places to visit nearby. We are looking forward to visiting again next month.

I can't recommend La Bihourderie highly enough!
