“Formidable! Great wine, great landscape, great hosts, great company!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2011

This is one place we will definitely be returning to. I don't think that La Dordogne is particularly well known outside of France, but it should be! It has the most wonderful landscape and climate and I guess this is why Caroline and Sean Feely chose it to run their wonderful vineyard, Chateau Haut Garrigue, which they so generously and expertly share with their many visitors every year. Caroline is a wonderful guide and during our 2-day walking tour of her vineyard and others in the area, we learnt a lot about bio vine cultivation and harvesting. We also got to taste the various wines that are grown on their vineyard together with some amazing complementary food. Tres bon! And we got to meet like-minded Francophiles and wine lovers, so everybody gelled no matter where in the world they came from. Walking through vineyards and the local terrain was sheer pleasure, and then stopping for lunch at a local village restaurant was just the icing on the cake! We stayed with a wonderful couple, Nadine and Jacques, just outside the beautiful little village of Saussignac and were treated there to a culinary experience 'par excellence' from Nadine. All in all, a return visit is certainly on the cards.

“If you enjoy wine this is the place to visit.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2011

Unfortunately Caroline was out when we wanted to visit but Sean stepped in and explained where and how the vines grow and what effects the climate, soils, direction and degree of slope has in determining which grapes grow where.
We tasted several different wines, Semillon Sauvignon Blanc Muscadelle, a lovely dessert wine to Sauvinon Blanc Semillon Sec, which was exceptional.
Sean was able to guide us as to which wines to choose with meat and fish dishes and we are now enjoying the wines with family and friends.
Sean and Caroline have two gite, one has two bedrooms, both ensuite and another gite attached to the main stone built house with two bedrooms and one bathroom.
There is no other accommodation on site but local B&B's can be organised. It is fairly remote so if you are looking for restaurants, shops and other amenities you would need to drive to a nearby local town.
As we had not booked a specific tour there was no fee to pay. We spent about an hour tasting and finding out about the different wines. Other booked activities will take longer.

“a passionate, educational, eye-opener”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2011

think you know wine? think again!
a fun and informal, yet informative, food and wine pairing day, enjoyed with good company and an excellent host: Caroline Feely
This is a must-do...
Unfortunately, my camera was too late to capture the chicken jumping on the tabe, resulting in frantic trips to the kitchen, as well as a wardrobe change to the poor lady who took the brunt of it.

“True French experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2011 via mobile

We spent two weeks at Caroline & Sean Feely's wonderful Haut Garrigue vineyard, drank their wine, walked the local townlands, attended one of Caroline's wine courses, and went to a local night festival in Saussignac.

Haut Garrigue is also an excellent place from which to visit the Bastide towns of the Dordogne.

Highly recommended.

“A great introduction to bio wine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2011

We went for the morning tour with lunch and had a wonderful experience. Caroline was very knowledgeable and we had a nice time sampling the wines with different foods. We even ended up buying a couple of bottles at the end, just because it was that good. I would definitely recommend it!
