“Sardinia mountain base”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

This hotel proved to be ideal for our visit to the central and mountain areas of Sardinia. The nights are quiet and restful, the air is good, and the hosts are excellent cooks. The evening meals feature a particularly good selection of both meat and vegetarian dishes. If you eat sparingly, as we do, they are not offended, so do tell them otherwise they will offer you the traditional and bountiful three courses (antipasto + pasta + main) that Italians crave. If you are hungry and/or returning from a mountain trek, then the food is perfect. To be noted: outstanding pasta dishes flavoured with local walnuts or with almonds & basil & tomato. The rooms are comfortable and the hotel is part of an initiative where old disused buildings such as warehouses and mills are renovated for accommodation; they have succeeded magnificently here. A short distance away there is a beautiful forest park just outside Seui, easily reached by car. A little further and highly recommended, exquisite small museums devoted to menhirs (at Laconi) and to weaving & coppersmithing (at Isili). There are plenty of nuraghes and domus de janas to be found in all directions. Do remember that museums in this part of the world are closed on Mondays and on other days they close at 1pm for a long lunch, before reopening around 3pm or 4pm. Check before travelling. Here at Sadali there is a stop for the famous Trenino Verde, a small-gauge railway which offers a quaint and slow way to see this beautiful region of mountains: see other reviews for more details on this train.

Room Tip: Some rooms face the mountains and others face the street. The hosts offered us a choice and we were...

extremely friendly owners, we stayed for two nights and enjoyed the food (vegiterian available and delicious), the cats on the terrasse and the friendly wooden room. towns looks like "waiting for the big tourism" but is still waiting ;) going there takes a while due to curves but it was very nice to walk in woods after the more or less rocky coast.
drawbacks: no wlan. thin walls (like in all our previous hotels)

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

We were there in mid May, a little off season. In a little quiet town close to the huge national park (Gennargentu). Although not a touristy place, the town was exceptionally charming and poetic (some old abandonned houses, free roaming cats, public art, narrow streets, waterfall (do not miss it!)). The owner and chef is also an artist. We enjoyed a great diner there; no menu, you just leave it to the chef! We came with a 10 months old baby; a high chair was available for him in the restaurant and a crib was installed in the room when we arrived. Very nice room with a great view on the valley. Excellent breakfast. Nothing negative to mention. One of the highlights of our 2 weeks trip. Highly recommended.

We came upon this little family-operated hotel by chance - when walking through the hilly streets of little Sadali - in the heart of Central Sardinia. A brautifully renovated historic building with charming rooms in a wonderful setting. Great dinners served in the garden!

Room Tip: Rooms with balcony to the valley
