Want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Port Vila or prefer a more untouched resort experience ...get yourself to Espiritu Santo and do yourself a favour and choose Oyster Island! We have both done a lot of travel and agreed hands down that this was the best 10 days we have ever experienced.
Firstly, Santo is just so stunning you need to wear your sunglasses ....the sand is so white, the water so blue and the rainforest so lush and green...it is truly a place where the rainforest meets the sea. The blue holes and Champagne Beach were just a couple of highlights. Oyster Island has managed to encapsulate this laid back, natural beauty in their eco style resort. We stayed in the deluxe bamboo bungalows which were just gorgeous, made of bamboo and coral with large decks perfect for swinging in the hammock and sipping champagne with friends watching the fish swim below.
The food was fantastic and varied enough to suit adults and children and not feel like you were eating the same thing for the duration. The steak, mud crab and whole fish was a highlight. But hands down the highlight and what will keep us coming back are the beautiful staff. From housekeeping to the restaurant staff to the labourers, they were all so friendly, accommodating and happy , it was lovely just laying on the beach listening to them talk and laugh together as they worked. We chose to have our wedding while on Oyster and we cant begin to praise how stress free and perfect they made our big day. The GM Olly organised everything via just a few emails before we left Australia and we basically just turned up on the day and had the most incredibly special day imaginable ...Olly and the staff went to so much trouble to make it extra special and it is something we will never forget. We travelled in a group of 13 including 7 children aged from 3 to 16 and the resort is fantastic for kids. It is very safe and our kids swam, paddled and fished all day. The staff are great with the kids keeping an eye on them so the parents can all relax and treating them to boat rides and teaching them about all the different fish. It is clear that Olly and David treat their staff well, you can tell they enjoy working in the resort and this creates the warm welcoming atmosphere that will keep us coming back for more.
We could go on for ages but basically if you prefer to get away from the cookie cutter resort style holiday and experience stunning natural beauty and amazing people then Oyster Island should be on your list.
