For Divers ..this place is priceless! For those interested in ww11 history..its not to be missed.
I scuba dived Million Dollar point and it just blew me away. I had read about it and seen vids and photos, but when I saw it for myself it was unbelievable. There were some who snorkelled it and they were even amazed at what they could see.
There is a lot of fossilied remains on the beach as well. Further east and the end of he point are lots of remains of helmets in stacks, medical supplies, diiner plates, buckles and press studs from clothing, dog tags etc etc, tons and tons of coke bottles (some of which you can still read the date). Apparently the US Soldiers were rationed 2 bottles per day each.
If you do a boat dive with Santo Island dive, be sure to get a guide to walk along the beach with you and show you.
If you are thinking about going to Santo, you probably are intending to go to Million Dollar Point so I dont need to tell you.
My advice..Look along the beaches too, take plenty of water.
