Its the only decent option to stay in in Kurseong. The property has probably seen better days but currently its in shambles. The rooms are decent but the food lacked imagination and taste.
The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Service was prompt.

Room (including the bedding) was damp and absolutely stank of mothballs; huge spiders on the balcony (in big webs which must have been there for a long time). Very good tea bar with excellent Masala Chai, varied and tasty breakfast. View must be great if the weather is good (unfortunately couldn't see much). Rooms clean, friendly staff.
We did not find that Kurseong was a place worth visiting in any way.

Look this building is in need of updating, but in terms of Kurseong it's probably the best there is. Our room was massive and had a view of the mountains beyond, beautiful.

The dinner that was provided was a delicious buffet.

Overall you could mark it down in terms of western levels of acceptance but we enjoyed our stay here, warts an all.

Staff were extremely helpful and courteous.

Room Tip: Look for rear facing rooms towards mountains

While planning for our annual family holiday I was looking for a nice abode in the mountains away from the city life. Cochrane Place in Kurseong was recommended by one of my close freinds who is also a travel operator . I looked up the website and contacted directly the Manager of the property Ravindra. From the very beginning he was very helpful and cooperative. I had called him up several times to clarify a lot of points before making my booking and every time he patiently handled all my queries. Ultimately we made our booking and travelled there for a 3 nights stay . Ravindra arranged for our transportation to the property from Bagdogra. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised to see a place with the old world charm with interesting pictures, photographs and writeups on the walls. We had booked a suite which was a duplex overlooking the Kanchanjangha . The room was beautiful and the stay very comfortable. The food was also very good. The staff were ever helpful and obliging. There is a lovely Tea Bar in the Dining room which is run by Laltu Purkait who has amazing tea receipes up his sleeves. He knows a lot of home remedies made with tea and other spices for common illnesses and is always ready to help with a smiling face. In fact my son who was suffering from cough, cold and fever got cured after drinking several cups of his tea concoction. :) A really unforgettable experience. Would like to visit again in future. Kurseong and visit to Cochrane Place will be one of my most memorable trip so far. The natural beauty and the hotel atmosphere makes us feel to stay here for rest of the life...

We stayed for couple of days during Durga Puja in 2013, and recommend everyone to visit this place atleast once and you will forget all your other trips...Really wonder when there is so much beauty within India, we all should visit all the places in India

Room Tip: Choose the NEF Room on the first floor...one of the best rooms for the view outside..

The hotel is on the Pankhabari road away from Kurseong town and is an hour and a half drive up to Darjeeling from here. The staff are all friendly and courteous. They have a Tea Bar at the restaurant which serves an array of Darjeeling tea concoctions and is a must try. We were looking for Azaleas but could not get one as the Nursery was very far. They were very generous in gifting us one from their own collection. The resort is different from others as it is an old bungalow of the erstwhile Magistrate of Kurseong which has been renovated. Views of the shimmering lights of the Siliguri plains at night is breathtaking.

Such a wonderful little find just outside of Kurseong, from the Manager Mr. Kang all the way down the line, the staff are really amazing, the service excellent and the food outstanding.
It’s such a wonderful little Hotel, very quirky, with an amazing history that all marries in together really well.
Well worth the visit if you have a few days on your hands to relax, unwind and appreciate the beautiful old charm of the place. Try the stick massage, it’s wonderful. Enjoy the views.
