“Extraordinary place at the heart of nature”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2014

We stayed in one of the rondavels on the mountain and were deeply impressed.
Perfect service, amazing landscape, fantastic ambiance and the feeling to be at a very special place.
The dinner in the main house offered a very good quality - not a high end restaurant, but cooked and served with love and regarding they are offering a selection of 2 or 3 dishes per 3-course-mail it was a very good dinner...
The service was very attentive and friendly.
We'll come back !

Room Tip: The Rondavels on the mountains are amazing... But you should not be afraid of animals...

This must be my best lodge to stay in Springbok Area. Beautiful Scenery, especially in flowering time! peaceful and quite! I came here with my fiance, who told the owner that we are having a romantic pre-engagement getaway. they did so much effort for us. made the room all pretty and romantic with candles and everything. and they did not charge us at for it! so amazing. Food is fantastic! 3 course meal! Amazing!
I want to get married here!!

Room Tip: If you are staying in the main house, choose the one that looks over the valley! So pretty when you...

This is a lovely self catering cottage with beautiful walks and really great food. Our dinner was great, breakfast was very good- very nice fresh fruit salad and the omelets were great. The staff were all very friendly and made us feel very welcome. I will return!

Most probably we booked one of the best places to stay when you want to visit Namaqualand ... The reception could have been a bit 'warmer' though. The rooms are a bit basic but everything is clean and acceptable. The restaurant is a big, rather unpleasant room but the food is excellent and the wines are also very good. We would recommend some more flexibility in opening hours.
Lunch boxes were ok. We recomment that thr Wifi should be free of charge (or included in the room price).

This is out in the country about 25 k from town. Springbok has several supermarkets and fuel stations. Our self catering modern bungalow was well equipped. It had 2 good sized bedrooms with en-suites. There’s plenty of space to relax, and it was quiet and completely dark at night. We had time to walk one of the trails from our unit which was perfect for seeing something of the flowers and landscape. They have several trails all carefully marked.
We ate in the main house that evening; the menu was tempting and food excellent. They have a big dining room and everyone who was staying that night was eating in. It was all very relaxing, with a large log fire and just the right level of attention from the staff. There is also a very comfortable lounge in the main house.

Though I might be a bit bias seeing I am from Springbok, I still would encourage travelers passing through Springbok or visiting to experience the flowers to book into Naries.
The mountain suites are something else entirely compared to mundane guesthouse rooms. It's got a great view, exceptional indoor decorations and little touches that makes you smile. (for example chocolates and champagne)
The main entrance and eating area reminds you of grand old Boland winery estates, relaxing vibe and out of this world food! Really must be the best food in the area. Jolene the manager makes everyone feel welcome and does a little something extra to make you feel at home and special. For example packs picnic basket and drives to the look out point for a view of the Skaap River canyon.
Well done and keep up the good service

In September 2013 we booked three nights in Naries Namakwa Retreat to see the wild flowers of Namaqualand.

On our arrival we parked our car under a tree and were greeted by weavers busy with nest building!
We had a warm welcome in the cosy lounge with comfortable chairs by the fireside.

This guest-farm is surrounded by beautiful gardens.
Our spacious with lavender decorated room was in the Manor House.

We enjoyed the excellent food. Every evening we felt like we were eating in a top-restaurant!
The service was good and the staff very kind and helpful.

We want to thank the Naries-team for the great stay and would recommend this property to others.
