“Unforgettable experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

This was a stunning day-long adventure. We had perfect weather and learned a good deal about Doubtful Sound and its wildlife. The area is breathtaking. Pictures can't truly capture it!

Real Journeys was a very professional and well-organized outfit. Our driver, Paul, was equally professional, friendly, and good-humored.

Our only complaints were that the lunch was bland and we couldn't skip the power station and leave early. (We booked via i-Site, and they booked us into the power station tour and we didn't know that until we got there. Even though we paid for it, we were stuck.)

“fantastic day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

For the price this day trip is exceptional value for money.
The check-in process and lunch collection is well organized and easy.
Our guide (Justin) was knowledgeable and approachable.
Everything about this trip was well organized and streamlined but very personable.
The scenery was spectacular and there was plenty of time to take it all in.
We did the additional trip through the PowerStation which, in itself, was well worth it.
The guide ensured that everyone was comfortable going underground before going in.

Overall, this is a trip not to be missed if you are visiting Fiordland.

“Wild, quiet, unbelievable!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

I've take a cruise from Manapouri at 9am and past an amazing day on the boat.
First step, travel Manapouri lake, you begin to discover the magic of Fiordland.
Then, 45 min of bus between the lake and Doubtful sound. You discover that it's the most expensive road of New Zealand.
At Doubtful, you take a new boat and discover some unbelievable landscapes. I've been pretty lucky, the weather was clear, I've seen 2 dolphins, 1 blue penguin and bunch of seals.
We've got also 5 min of real silence, any human activity… nature, only nature!
We finish the cruise by a visit of the hydroelectric station. Really interesting.
In conclusion, A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!

“Not to be missed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

This trip takes the whole day. We travelled from Te Anau and this made it a little less time than travelling from Queenstown. We had a lively young bus driver Justin who entertained us all day with his knowledge and witty dialogue. The scenery is magnificent and the day we travelled the sea was calm and we saw the seal colony at the mouth of the sound. A highlight was going down by bus into the Manapouri Power station about 2 kms inside the mountain. Very much like where you'd think the Stargate would be hidden!!

“Worth the trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013 via mobile

It's a long trip to Doubtful Sound from Queenstown - 12+ hour day in total - but totally worth it for the 3 hour cruise. The tour guides were great and we learnt lots about the fiord and wildlife. Views were amazing and there were heaps of waterfalls given the rain recently. Definitely worth the long trip out.
