When the wife & I did this trip we were blessed with a beautiful sunny day with light winds which made the whole experience GREAT.
Anytime you pay for an adventure the success or failure of an enjoyable time is heavily dependent on guides. Well Reg Y& Nicole were great.
Yes Reg is all business, which is what he needs to be when he is transporting near a dozen folks on a high speed boat and then driving a bus on step gravel mountain roads to get you safely to your kayak. My hat's off to him for a job well done. Relative to someone's previous comment about his rudeness, I would suggest talking to him when he is off duty (like during the lunch hour), he is very knowledgeable and enjoys sharing.
Relative to Nicole, who is your guide when in the kayak, you will find is VERY GOOD at all that she does. As a testimony, before getting in our boats one of the more timid ladies in our group ask how off do these two person kayaks tip over. She said under her watch on once in two years, which speaks highly of her knowledge and how she shares it before getting in the boat. While in the boat I had occurrence of my feet coming off the rudder pedals and needed so assistance. When I called Nicole, she was there in a flash and it was smooth boating from there on.
So relative to the staff, they both did it right in my estimation.
Now the scenery for this adventure was a WOW like the rest of the NZ south island and recommend you put this trip on the top of your "Must Do List" when in NZ.
