“Simply Superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

I stayed in a room in this establishment as a part of a service trip with my school. I was blown away by this hotel. The staff were exceptionally nice and accommodating, both with our sleeping arrangement needs and some of our dietary restrictions. The rooms were comfortable, cool, and cleaned daily. The bathrooms were very clean and the showers always hot. I felt safe in the hotel, and in the neighborhood we were in. The hotel is centrally located to a number of great places in Jinotega. Breakfast every morning was to die for, and was safe to eat. I never had any concerns about them not using bottled water to prepare their food. Looking at it on the outside you would not think that this hotel is a very large complex, but it is, with a wonderful courtyard on the inside as well that is full of plants. The hotel has a large meeting space that was great for us to use. Loved our experience and if I'm ever back in Jinotega again I'd stay here in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: The rooms on the upper balcony have a nicer view of the mountains surrounding Jinotega.

When first approaching this hotel in the central district of a medium sized town, the exterior is not striking. The sign is prominent, and initially, it seemed to be on par with a hostel or a place of practical comfort rather than a more substantive abode. However, this initial impression was deceiving. The property is well maintained and has a beautiful courtyard. The staff is available and courteous. In addition they have multi-sized meeting areas and a very good kitchen.

The bartenders do an excellent job of remembering the preferences of the guest and go the extra mile to make sure favored sporting events are being broadcast when guests are present. The wireless internet works well in the lobby, but fades as one moves to rooms more in the posterior of the property. They use Magic-Jack to allow international phone calls. This is quite economical and considerate, but the quality of the calls are a challenge especially when clarity is required. The desktop computer available to guests is functional, but its connection is quite slow. It is better if guest uses their own device wirelessly.

Words cannot adequately express how attentive and warm the staff are at this establishment. The rooms are practical and have clean sheets, a good safe and a hot shower. The location is reasonable to eating establishments and things in the center commercial area. As small-medium sized towns go, options are often limited of lodging. This is an excellent option. There is no pool and it is not as opulent as properties in large cities, but this place holds its own.

Room Tip: Rooms closer to the front of the property have wifi reception in on par with that in the lobby. Roo...

OwnerTheresa has built this from the ground up....and done it right. She includes little things that otbers do not. Meals were great, free coffee refills, no loud TV noise, large room, York a/c, comfortable quality mattresses, king bed, large mirror in bathroom, top notch decor, clean, spanish-style courtyard layout with beautiful garden in center, and friendly staff. She runs a tight ship. You win't find workers using their personal cell phones during their shifts. YOU get all the attention. She speaks great English and provides a warm welcome. Obviously, we will return. We ride our motorcycle throught Central America, and so far this is the best small hotel. Centrally located....just a block or two from anything you need.

I spent a week at Hotel Cafe, and it was a great experience. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are tidy and the hotel very clean. Location is good; only a few blocks from some great coffee shops and restaurants, but not on the main room with all the traffic noise.

I spent one night here during a road trip as I toured different areas of Nicaragua. It was very clean, with hot water, wifi, a/c,tv and a restaurant. The staff was very helpful in helping us to find fresh coffee beans for sale and or answering any questions that we may have had. This hotel is a far cry from the typical Nica style hostiles so if your looking for a cheap hostile, you might would want to carry on elsewhere. I paid a little over $50 a night, however I felt it was well worth it..

Room Tip: the garden area has a pretty scenic view than the rooms that enclosed..

I spent a week in Jinotega on a medical and water mission trip. The organization we traveled with uses this hotel several times a year. I was very impressed with the property. The rooms were clean and everything functioned well. (AC, lights, and flat screen TV with Satellite). The bathroom was a decent size with a big shower. They have several wifi routers and I had decent service in my room as well as in the lobby. We were told by our travel group not to drink the water, but that is very common in this area. They had plenty of bottled water for sale.

We had many of our meals in the hotel and the food was great. Breakfast each morning was great and they had many choices on the menu for dinner. The hotel did have an armed guard outside during the evenings, although I never felt unsafe while in Jinotega. All of the staff was friendly and accommodating. I would stay here again if I return to Jinotega.
