“almost don't want to share :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2012

I almost don't want to share its so beautiful here, i want to keep it all to myself !! It was a perfect spot to get away from the busy everyday lives we all have. I spent 5 nights here, and it was fantastic. From the moment I was picked up at the airport I felt comfortable , safe, taken care of and looked after without feeling like anyone was around me all the time. The food was fantastic and innovative easily the best lobster and calamari i ever had in my life! I am an easy traveler and this place made it even more easy to relax and forget about the world in such a beautiful spot. I really can't say enough about how wonderful it is. The people who work there really like working there , you can tell and they really enjoy each other ... it makes a difference when you are away from your own home and it shows. I would easily return !
Thanks to everyone at Laguna Azul. - Blake

“So peaceful!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2012

This was one of the most relaxing destinations in our trip to Panama. It's just you, 7 other rooms, the staff, the hotel, and WATER! It's sooo peaceful and relaxing. The rooms are superclean. The food is really great if you love seafood. The view is UNREAL!!!!!! It's really heaven on earth!

The only reason this hotel didn't get 5 stars from me is because of the lack of flexibility they had. They claim they are all inclusive and that so many activities are included but you only have the choice of going with the activity they chose for the day. Also, we were there for 2 nights/3 days and could only do one of the activities which is pretty unfair especially when you are paying 500 USD/night which is a fortunate in Panama. The staff (who were soooo nice) seemed like they wanted to accomodate us but they weren't allowed to because the boss (one of the partners) would not let them. He wouldn't let the activity boat drive 15 minutes extra (they said he didn't want to pay for gas) to drop us off one day and because of that, we missed a whole day of activity. When you are paying 500/day, you expect customer service to be better than this. And it was great except for the lack of flexibility by the boss. He was so unaccommodating that for me the experience lost not one but two stars.

Also, be ware...lots of sand flies but it's not the hotels fault. You are on a remote island so that is out of control. The hotel did manage to keep the flies out of the rooms though. :)

“You will relax and unwind while being taken care of all the time !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2012

you will enjoy every minute you spend with the people of Laguna Azul. Kind and helpful, ready to serve and leaving you live the absolute tranquility !
Follow them on one of the 'all included' excursions and feel Robinson Crusoe exploring natural beaches with palmtrees picture-ready near the ocean. ...And yes, I have seen the dolphins in their natural environment. Sport and swim, try the cayucos to paddle in between the mangroves to see the sunset... or simply do n o t h i n g but overlooking the bay from the open day lounge / dining room terrace. The bar tender will prepare your fresh cocktail with pleasure and if you have a special request the team will set the extra step to please you... I tell you by experience !

Although we enjoyed the fresh and good food, it is my personal feeling that the kitchen staff could be a little more inspired to bring some kind of more creative dishes to match the level of all the other magnificent features hotel Laguna Azul offers.

I will certainly make time to come back, as it was an experience of wellbeing not to be missed and even to be repeated !

If you are the type of 'epicurian' who needs the urban nightlife and minute-after-minute high-voltage activity, you will not want to disturb the other guests of Hotel Laguna Azul...

“Way over my expectations!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2011

I reach Laguna Azul Ecolodge because I heard great things about the conservation work related with the ecological impact of the lodge. I was not sure at the beginning due to the rate (around U$D 250 p/person p/night) however could not be more satisfied with the final result! This place is great value for money! starting from the excursions, the food and the drinks everything is included ! We book room number 8 witch is in the ground floor with a Queen Size bed, we have an incredible view of the lagoon. I spent almost all day speaking with Ruben (Lodge Manager) about different projects he used to work in . The rest of the staff, Linda and Mary are really cute and helpful . Is a must to swim in the coral at night! so relaxing, hope to be back some day.

Room Tip: upstairs room view are better
