“Amazing and Fabulous!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2012

My husband I just returned from Popa Paradise, where we celebrated our 3rd anniversary, and we can't say enough wonderful things about it! Dyllan went out of his way from day one to help us get to the resort and made sure we had anything and everything we needed once we arrived.

The resort itself is breathtaking and the perfect combination of jungle and beach. There are tons of things to do once you arrive and the staff is so helpful in recommending excursions. We kayaked, snorkeled at Zapatilla, did the cave excursion, and roamed around the island. At the end of the day we would lounge in the pool and enjoy the swim up bar and the company of the staff. The food was AMAZING! Darion is ridiculously creative and we looked forward to seeing what he would prepare for each meal. The food exceeded our expectations in every way!

The staff are FABULOUS!! Pete picked us up from the airport and was very friendly and helpful throughout our entire stay. Lena was our bartender and server and is one of the nicest people we have met. Dyllan and Darion are amazing! They are so helpful and friendly and just really good at what they do. Their positive attitude is contagious and Popa runs as well as it does because of them. We felt like we were hanging out with old friends by the end of the trip.

We're already planning our next trip to Popa and we can't wait! I can't imagine any "normal" person writing a bad review of this place because it really is a hidden gem and we were lucky to have found it.

The island is beautiful and natural. The accommodations are nice and the hotel staff is absolutely fantastic! They made a special effort while we were there to make vegetarian options for my mom and I. They packed a free bottle of champagne, some fruit and flowers in a picnic basket and hid it around the corner of the island for my, then boyfriend, to propose to me. We rented a kayak and paddled to the shipwrecked canoe to find the basket, then continued further to a gorgeous secluded beach. Proposal was perfect!

My daughter and I just spent 5 days at Popa Paradise and enjoyed every minute. We didn't want to leave! Our experience was somewhat unique in that we were (except for one night) the only guests at the hotel. I don't know how often that happens and I don't think it measurably changed our experience except that we felt more like 'family' than guests because of the increased intimacy with the staff. The staff and service are incredible and I'm certain it is the same whether there are 2 or 60 guests at the hotel. Dylan, Darien, Lina, Peter and the support team are professionals. When we went to Zapatillas Islands for snorkeling with friends not staying at Popa, they customized and prepared a perfect excursion for us. When we wanted to simply relax by the pool or at the beach for the day, we lacked for nothing...food was served, drinks were replenished, nothing was too much to ask, yet we were never hovered over. There was a constant air of tranquility and relaxation which translated from the staff to us. We can't say enough about Darien's incredible meals. His food is simply delicious...fresh ingredients, prepared and served in gourmet style. And don't miss Darien's spa for yoga and massage! Many reviewers have commented about the gorgeous beach, serene pool, warm water, stunning vegetation, and beautiful and comfortable accomodations, so I won't repeat. It's all true. In conclusion, I'll say that Popa Paradise is rustic yet elegant, highly personal and very tranquil. We were fortunate to be there without other guests because our time with Dylan, Darien, Lina and Peter were special moments which have become very special memories. We arrived as guests and departed as friends. They are wonderful people. We await our return.

My husband and I visited Popa Paradise in celebration of our 20th anniversary. We went snorkeling and kayaking (free for guests), spent long hours in the beautiful pool with a swim-up bar, and many peaceful relaxing moments just enjoying all the birds and beauty of the place. Dyllan and Darion were wonderful hosts, making sure we didn't lack for anything. The staff were all informed of our reason for coming, and each wished us a happy anniversary when they crossed our paths. Lena was delightful and always there when we needed something, but never intrusive. The meals Darion created were nothing short of masterpieces; I only wish I could've eaten it all! Our room (casita) was truly lovely, with our own deck looking out over the beautiful flora, and the sea beyond. It was by far the best place I've ever spent a night (and day).

Beautiful beach, lovely pool, fine food (thank you Darion for some of the best dishes I’ve had in my life), even cocktails were amazing! Popa’s cabins are gorgeous with spectacular ocean and jungle views. Whole team at Popa was so welcoming and they treated us as friends. Best vacation ever!!!

We decided to take our kids, ages 8 and 14, on an adventure beyond the usual spring break destinations ... Mexican all includives, Florida crowded beaches... It was an amazing cultural experience and a tropical oasis.. Adventure, beaches, zip lines, boogie boarding at red frog beach, snorkeling right off the beach at zapatillos, visits to Indian villages and schools, pristine coral reefs.... The staff at popa paradise was superlative... Accommodating and welcoming and wonderfully entertaining... The food was great, so nice to wake up in our own casita and walk down to the open air dining area for fresh fruit, followed by omlettes or pancakes... The staff lined up whatever we wanted to do, private boat to snorkel or tour, lined up a nice simple lunch... The resort pool was what made us choose this spot over others in bocas del toro area, and we were so glad we did... Compared to other lovely spots in the area, the pool was a great diversion to keep the kids occupied when we wanted some lounge chair time.... The casita was glorious, a nice couch which we didn't use since we were on our private deck overlooking the water... The staff was apologetic when we had a rainy day but our kids were thrilled to swim in the rain in the pool and we were giddy to relax as we listened to the rain falling on the roof... Use of sea kayaks right on the private beach were fun to explore the coastline of popa island... Great sand and some beach chairs were ideal for lounging on the beach when we weren't at the pool. Dinners offered several choices, and were very good and reasonably priced. They were also great about serving our daughter buttered noodles....we felt welcome and comfortable at this small boutique hotel, and dream of returning. It is an adventure to get there, small plane flight from panama city followed by a small boat ride... Gorgeous scenery... Through island waterways and mangroves... All things that make it an adventure we loved and our kids will embrace way more than our previous spring break to floridas islands of adventure....

Room Tip: Our casita was lovely, they brought in an extra bed so the four of us fit comfortably. While there a...
