“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

I'm not a fan of Japanese food, but Sakana changed my attitude. I ate here many times and was never disappointed. The food was excellent, the service very good, and the ambiance was that of happy, noisy (in a good way) customers.

“Fabulous food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

I was recommended to this restaurant by friends and wasn't disappointed!!..we went for a friends wedding anniversary and all had great meals....i had the chicken teriyaki which came with rice and miso soup ... was delicious at 370 rps one of my friends ordered the steak which looked fab and they have had before and continually rave about!!so thats what i shall have next time...one of the others had the fish, huge portion ended up taking some home in a parcel!! and another the chicken deep fried in which was also huge and apparently delicious...certainly looked it!! Nice ambience and good service. this was may end of season and almost every table was reserved!!! Drinks a little more than elsewhere but hey ho still cheap

“This place is headed for the top!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

Sakana is a quaint little place in a not very busy part of Vagator. We ate here two nights in a row - it was that good - and would have come back again if weren't leaving the next day! The food is simple, but fresh, tasty, and it appears authentically Japanese (except perhaps for the fantastic desserts - more on that
later!). The steak was very good, the sushi rolls are tasty, the salad is remarkably fresh, and the seaweed in it adds to the excitement. Plus you can was all of this down with some Asahi Beer. They also make excellent home-made ice-cream (chocolate is what we had) and the chocolate-mango tart we had was delicate and perfect - it would have given some French chefs a run for their money. Sakana is in it's 4th season - I hope they can maintain the incredible quality and simplicity they have come to be known for.

“Wow!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

What's not to like?

Wonderful food: thoughtfully prepared and nourishing. Rather than feeling too full to move, I felt full and ready to enjoy the rest of the evening.

The set meals are a steal: tuna teriyaki with sesame seeds, miso soup including tofu and seaweed, Japanese rice and salads for under 400 rupees. Really?

I loved the decor and the service but recommend reservations as the place can get busy.

Go, enjoy and cherish!

“blown away - melt in your mouth ... best steak in years”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

this is another one of those places in chapora , hidden away , not spoken of . fascinating place this chapora , it keeps throwing little wildcards at you . ive passed it a a few times but thought it might be a bar or hotel poss . its just a restaurant appararently . the more you look around in chapora the more you find . its got dirty street bars full of people drinking on the streets for next to nothing [last hippie bar , juice bar etc] , then it has real high end designer places [sakara , living room etc] . so i went in , looked at menu , quickly realised it was a japanese restaurant . interesting . waiter came over , all cool , explained a few things , recommended the steak and a fish dish . asked about steak and he said its the finest steak youll have . honestly i literally burst out laughing , took his comment with a pinch of salt like my margaritas , then rolled with it . the best steak my ar5e i thought , but here goes . then the food came . oh my gawd . this guy wasnt joking , what is this all about ?? the steak is UNREAL . i dont do the steak thing too often when im out , but i cant remember the last time [years and years] that i have ever had a steak literally melt in your mouth like this . ok ive had really good meals and meat in thalassa vagator, or jamies in baga etc , but this is another level completely . i cant believe im eating this for a few pounds in price . needless to say i tipped the waiter nicely and left very very pleased . the only sad thing is ive now been here 40 days and nights and only just discovered this place . its a really nicely fitted out place too , nota dive . you have to visit here , just 15 mins from baga . you can read more on my blog tharobster.wordpress.com and see pics and videos of this place and all over goa . solid 5* rating easy , its the place ill be going to first next time !
