“Nasty!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

I think the previous reviews were too kind. Yes stained carpet, noisy partying outside after bar closed, etc. Who cares about the "free breakfast"? I wouldn't eat anything that was prepared in that place. But the nasty, filthy condition of the rooms- well, I can't talk about it- trying to keep my mind's picture of the mattress, carpet, shower, toliet (ahhhh!!!) from permanently burning into my brain. Slept with my clothes on, using my own pillows and blankets to lie on. We got up and left around 4:30 am- just getting enough rest to continue driving. If you are going east, it will be worth the drive to the next town Moosomin. Saskatchewan was BEAUTIFUL as we traveled across but the experience at this motel put a smudge on this part of the trip.

We recently stayed at the Whitewood Inn while visiting family nearby. The motel boosts in bright letters outside the front of the building "FREE CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST". Well it is not free, we were given two prices, 1 that included the continental breakfast @$99.00 and one that did not include the continental breakfast @ $82.50. $18.00 for toast and coffee is pretty steep. That's not really FREE now is it? We weren't sure if there were any other places to eat at in this small town so opted for the continental breakfast the first morning. What a joke, they offered nothing more than a unthawed toaster waffle, and toast on paper plates with plastic forks and cups. We stayed here about 5 years ago and at that time the restaurant served an awesome orderable breakfast meal. The two slice toaster took forever to heat up a piece of toast.

The room we stayed in had water damage from floors above in the bathroom that had been painted over. The wall still sagged where the water had been and the mold presently is. The mold smell added a lovely smell of urine to the ambience of the bathroom. The bathroom floor hadn't been cleaned, the bathtub/shower were disgustingly unclean.

We made coffee in the room with a broken lidded pot that is a safety hazard (for burning a patron if the unlatched broken lid were to fall off). The extra coffee that we left was emptied into the sink and not even rinsed down. So there were brown splashes in the sink. I'm certain the pot was not even rinsed, rather just stuck back onto the machine.

The pool and hot tub are not kept up. The hot tub had floaties in it all 3 nights of our stay. I question if they are looked at or cleaned on a regular basis.

On the last night of our stay, clearly there was a party crowd let in. There was yelling and door slamming in the wee hours of the morning. When we went to check out, there were 2 people sleeping on the couch by the pool, candy wrappers strewn on the floor and cigarette butts on the brick wall behind the couch. Is this motel not managed throughout the night? I told the young girl that there were people sleeping on the couch and she seemed indifferent to this.

Thanks for the expensive stay in this dumpy motel. I'll be sure to have the nearest health inspector stop in for a full review of your facility. If you don't have the money to appropriately maintain this motel, please do it justice and sell to someone who can.

Recently stayed at this "hotel" for three nights, and if given a choice would not stay there again. Unfortunately it is the only game in town, and in fact for many miles around. Starting with the driveway and parking lot this place is a disaster. Massive potholes, mud, and several beer bottles. Room was almost adequet, but dated and tired, stains on carpet, peeling paint, squeaky floor, but... clean sheets on an uncomfortable bed. The pool and jacuzzi were closed for two days and looked very dirty, so probably just as well. Restaurant was fairly good as to qaliity, but also very tired. Obvious that the onsite management? owners? had either no experience, or did not care. By the way, stayed at this hotel three years ago andit was much bette on all accountsr.

Stay in this Motel twice for 3 days each for the business training in about 20 mintues drive from Whitewood. It is a small motel, but it is neat, the building is old but the service and standard are acceptable for stop over and have a rest. There is also a swimming pool. The room locates on the second floor is more quiet. This hotel is totally OK for a small town.

This place was a joke will never stay there again. Would have got a bettter sleep in my vehicle on the side of the road. Our room was over the smoking area outside of the front door noise all night long then the bar crowd partied up in the rooms till 6:30am. There is no control of people coming and going to the room area. The beds were disgusting. In the am the clerk offered us free breakfast to make up for the night. (which i graciously turned down) They really had no response to the complaint. But had no problem taking my hundred bucks, would have continued on if they had informed us it might be loud. Was worried to leave my wife in the room alone the go to the front desk in the night to complain. We would have keep on going bad roads and all, if i know the night would be like that. I don't think the pool is ever open. I suggest staying somewhere else if you have had a long day on the road.

Very dated rooms. Damage to tub and walls, nothing that makes it uninhabitable, but for the price, it was pretty poorly furnished. It was a 1970 hotel, with a 2010 price tag.

Our family meets here in Whitewood yearly for a Finn Family Reunion. We have been coming here for ages as our family originates from the area. It is within striking distance of the gorgeous Qua'pelle Valley, in Saskatchewan. This year the marvelous indoor pool & hot tub at the motel was actually open for a while - til the thunderstorm hit! And what a storm, with major hail, we couldn't see outside our window. It proceeded to pour water under the wall, straight into our room for over 5 feet. The pool area outside our inside door was pouring rain!! Overstressed staff was dealing with water in the dining room & could not get to us til way later with their water Vac. 2 days after, (mentioning it to housekeeping every morning ) the carpet in our room was still sopping wet. sigh. But, lots of other rooms were unaffected. They could not move us as the place was full. Plus family on the second floor (away from the water) were bothered by party people, The restaurant is a "Chicken Chef" outlet, yet they have a nice Steak & Beer night that accommodated over 20 of our family members with 1 server. These new owners seriously need to spend more money on infrastructure, soon!!!!. YET WE WILL TAKE OUR CHANCES AGAIN NEXT YEAR, lol
