“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2014

The hotel is beautiful the excellent decoration preppy has plenty to do within the hotel such as cinema, villar games or cards, the excellent staff though at first a little cold to welcome customers, I was lucky be attended by the owners personally and was a good experience because it was carnival season and was a holiday but we solved the problem of dinner bringing a chef personally, the restaurant very colonial and beautiful presentation, the great room with a fruit basket arrival and welcome card, has parking and the owner took care to guard the car, it was a nice gesture and really recommend visiting this place since by your location and customer relations will make a unique experience, thanks to the owners of this hotel and will improve even more the quality of the hotel.

Latacunga seemed a place with little to no order. We took the bus (think it was $2) from the southern terminal in Quito and stopped in Latacunga to visit Cotopaxi. The taxi semi-knew how to get to the hotel - we finally made it after $1 ride. The place and the way it is built is an oasis in the polluted air of the city. Our room was great, with even a space heater to remove the chill from the air in the evening (and dry a few clothes that we didn't have the hotel launder). The breakfast was really good, however the food quality of the dinner was not up to par. The service in the evening was sketchy. The older gentleman was quite good, but the younger kid has much to learn about service. I suppose part of his issue was not speaking English (the other man did not either), but he still can provide service without being frightened or the guests because of a language barrier. The location of the property is great - close to tours operators, food markets, restaurants, and at $68 per night a pretty good bargain. The desk staff, especially the young woman was very helpful. I believe the shower in our room was a little weak, but I'm not 100% sure. The furnishings were nice, the room clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: It's very quiet as it is built off the street, so noise should not be an issue for any room. St...

The staff was very friendly, they were able to park our car securely in a garage and the hotel itself was beautiful. When we first arrived, we were greeted by someone who did not speak any English, but he called someone who did and we were able to get things sorted out. It is in a good location to a supermarket and restaurants for eating. We had no problem navigating this small city. We stayed here to make a day trip to Quilotoa, but it was actually a lot farther than we imagined. The laguna was a two hour drive away. So if you're making this your base, be advised it's far.

Staff are great and there is parking in a garage nearby. However, there are NO safes and the rooms are not secure. Rooms are basic but noisy, hot water is good. As trip advisor is forcing me to write more: Blah blah blah Blah blah blah Blah blah blah Blah blah blah Blah blah blah

Room Tip: All rooms are noisy and basic.

My wife and I stayed in the hotel for one night. During this time the Internet worked sporadically and when it was time to take a hot shower the water was cold. The staff were pleasant and friendly. The hotel is downtown so it is in a good location to visit the city sites.

Stayed here for 2 nights around Mama Negra. I think they upgraded me, room had a sofa sitting area. Had a view from the room. Some English spoken. Rooms have space heaters! Sevice a little slow at breakfast (wait for the fruit and eggs, they are included!). Located in colonial center.

We stayed here for two nights to visit the Quilotoa lake. Basic hotel, but good value for money with a good & friendly service. The breakfast is also basic, but they help you to organise the trips and visits you want to do over there. The lake is one of the most pieces of nature in the area. A must when it fits into your touring calendar.
