Spent a day/night at Estancia San Ceferino. The place is pretty enough with outdoor pools, tennis courts and a spa. The spa costs an extra 30 pesos (at today’s exchange rate, less than $10 US) for use of the gym, indoor pool, sauna, steam bath and locker rooms. Massages and the like are extra.
We booked two types of rooms, a junior with two twin beds and a senior with a king. The senior room was nicely done and was located in a separate chalet which had a pretty patio and living room area. The junior was in one of the main buildings and was a little small and basic.
The place seems to cater to corporate events so the staff did not seem to know what to do with us. Unfortunately, we found there wasn’t much to do, so we spent the extra few dollars for the spa. The literature boasts carriage rides, horseback riding and bike trails. The carriage ride and the tour of the carriage museum and dairy took only 30 minutes. Scheduling horseback riding seemed to put off the staff. We rode all the bike trails in about 15 minutes. We took walks through the fields, but, despite using plenty of repellent, the mosquitoes were quite unbearable.
All in all disappointing – especially for the price.
