“Well situated with nice spa and brilliant restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2012

The unique situation and excellent food are the main reasons to come here. You will never experience a choice of breakfast like this with a range from oysters to home pressed tongue. We risked the chefs choice gourmet menu with accompanying wines and it was the best meal we had in France. It included langoustine, lobster, turbot and pigeon all of which we would have ordered from the menu. The accompanying wines added to the gastronomic experience and the views from the dining room are incredible. All served with panache-unforgettable.

This restaurant is part of a most wonderful and unique Relais Chateaux hotel in the southern part of Britanny, France.
We ate an excellent lunch while seated next to the bay windows overlooking the sea. Although the restaurant is very high class, there was a very informal and family-oriented atmosphere. A special children's menu was served to the 5 year old who ate with us. Everything from the food, to the wine, to the tableware was superb, though quite expensive. The hotel grounds are beautiful as well and we are considering spending a nightor two there next time. Highly recommended.

My Husband and I intended to stay here for 3 nights in August 2011 as part of our Honeymoon/ mini moon but left after 24 hours we were so appalled by the rudeness of the staff. To compensate us, we received a free Gin and Tonic off our bill.

On arrival the grounds are impressive, but the decor inside our room was in my opinion no more than a 3 star hotel. We arrived at lunchtime ready to dine and have something light, but being a non meat eater, I was informed that I could not eat off menu or have any variation at all. The menu did not come with any translation or description which required us having to call someone over to help us translate which clearly was all too much trouble. When I asked if it was possible to have a slight alternative I was informed by the Maitre D that " this is a Chateaux and Relais establishment". I felt embarrassed and really small.

Prior to dinner, we waited in the lounge area for pre dinner drinks, and were given some lovely looking canapés... We were presented with menu's, and then had to wait over an hour for someone to take our order. It really was shocking!

At dinner the same Maistre D was rude and on selecting bottle of wine with our meal were informed that they had run out.

The irony of this place is that there are signs which read that the restaurant has a dress code , yet at breakfast a French couple were sat next to us with a three-legged Alsatian under the table, and couples sat in their robes.

Breakfast was probably the final straw having watched all the staff serve all the French guests first, even though we had been sat in the restaurant for quite some time prior to them arriving. We sat for 30 minutes before someone came to take our breakfast order at which point we decided to walk out.

My Husband and I complained and explained we wanted to leave and asked to be refunded for the two additional nights and even this seemed to be a struggle. We explained that it was our honeymoon which had been ruined, and I sat in the car and cried.

I am pleased to say we then drove to THE BRITTANY in Roscoff another Chateaux & Relais Hotel which was absolutely out of this world. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the Hotel was a complete contrast to where we had just come from and how badly we had been treated.

On our return home, we wrote to Chateaux and Relais and complained about our stay in Domaine ... We received a letter about a month later telling us they had never received any similar complaints and weren't really bothered. Your honeymoon is such a special time, and sadly the first 24 hours were completely ruined by rude, ignorant staff. I would never go back.

Having reviewed this hotel some years ago, was doubtful about returning.but, the lure of the seafood specialities pulled and we spent a three night stay here. The weather was not at all good for the time of year, so we were already a bit miffed! However, this time we made good use of the indoor heated pool, and sauna facilities etc. The gardens that had been under repair the last visit were now in full glory and some refurbishments to the lounge were very pleasant. I have to say that the staff and service were exceptional!
Polite, friendly and very efficient. Our meals were all a sense of ocassion, and two out of the three evenings we had the best table in the restaurant.
Rooms as ever, were top drawer. We had junior suites with part sea view. There is no a/c in this building so be prepared! The food was amazing, both in flavour and presentation. Price of the drinks was (as seems to be the case in France at the moment) ridiculous. Supplements for beef and lobster already quite high price menu items I thought were a bit steep.
The only thing that didn't work for us was the breakfast menu and set up. I don't know why they have tried to work it like this, but to me if made the meal more of a competition than a 'start to the day'. However, again, all our requests were met, (six of us, there were quite a few over the 4 days) with no hesitation.
The outside area could do with a couple of more comfortable seats for those who are unable to access the loungers with cushions by the outdoor pool area (due to steep steps)
sitting on hard backed chairs outside for reading or relaxing is difficult.
On the whole we had a thoroughly enjoyable sojourn here this time. I do hope the lady who broke her leg whilst rock climbing on the beach makes a full recovery. And the fisherman that was washed up to the rocks was re acquainted with his boat quickly!
( I did say the weather was iffy!!!)

We stayed two nights and greatly enjoyed the whole ambience of Domaine de Rochevilaine. Our room was attractive with balcony over sea and rocks. We dined both nights and particularly enjoyed seafood, fish and wonderful cheeses .We preferred the main dining room which had softer lighting than the blue dining room but both have great sea views. The spa is large with excellent indoor pool. Breakfast comes in three formats and room service was incredibly quick. We will come again.

A surprising variety of rooms within traditional and modern buildings and all maintained to a high standard with a super restaurant.

The cheaper rooms are in the modern spar complex with the very large pool and judging by the number of Parisien number plates is very popular for visits at the weekend .

It is a very enjoyable well presented hotel complex and the restaurant has lovely views of the sea with beautiful food and reasonably priced bottles of wine (compared to Auberge Bretonne!) so ticks all the right boxes for a lovely place to stay for a few days. Some of the granite cottages have now been refurbished to a high standard so they are quite expensive to stay in but it maybe worth the money for a special treat.

Overall a great place to stay and all the facilities which you would expect including a spa.

We booked this hotel through Brittany Ferries, which seems to have been a very good deal and included a 4 course meal each night. We stayed for 3 nights at the end of October.
The room we had was very comfortable. We could see the sea, although we were not facing it, and looked out over well kept gardens. Our only problems with the room were that it was very dark (given the time of year we really needed another lamp in the room in order to be able to read at all) and there was no shower curtain. The bed was large and comfortable and the facilites were clean and in good order.
The swimming pool is superb. Large, warm and with bubble seats and jets around the sides. There is also a small jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and a plunge pool. The only very small downside with the pool was the usual impossibility of getting a lounger as they were all 'bagged' all the time.
The restaurant was superb. Apart from one steak which had not even seen the heat (I don't mind it rare, but this was still moo-ing!), which was cheerfully taken back and given a fleeting glance at some heat, we had fantastic food, just the right amount and beautifully presented. We were placed by the window, but as it was late October we could not see anything!
Staff were on the whole, pleasant, saying 'hello' in English when they passed us, and helpful.
Above all the location of this hotel is outstanding. The views are fantastic. The position on the coast is just fabulous. However, the hotel is a little remote. It is in a small village which is quite isolated. This did not bother us at all, but would be something to bear in mind if you are visiting this hotel as a car is needed.
