Cas Gasi, is a unique property. Its roots are firmly established in local culture and traditional Ibicenco life. The hotel reflects a luxury, homely feel but with a touch of individual style. It successfully blends the Islands rich architectural, design and history, with modern comforts and contemporary living. Not an easy task in Ibiza. Old antiques and curiosities, fit comfortably with wifi, decked swimming pools, sauna and its pristine gym. Manicured gardens, boasting their own roses, lemons, oranges and flowers, sent the air around the 18th Century, traditional, Ibicenco building.
Its the attention to detail, by its owners, that makes the difference at Cas Gasi. They have lovingly restored the old house, paying respect to the Islands heritage and proud culture. Its a fine example of local hospitality and real Ibiza life and its host Margaret, deserves a lot of credit for showcasing the best of local culture, with a touch of finesse added. Duck down pillows and duvets, sumptuous mattresses and stylish finishes in all the sabina wood ceiling rooms, reflect the quality feel of the place. The magnificent fireplace in the main house, for me, was a real centrepiece. The homely atmosphere is complimented by many old books and family photos along with a grand piano that sits in the living area.
The Food is all home cooked and simple, utilising the fresh ingredients from Cas Gasi's own ecological gardens. Free range eggs, olive oil, jams and vegetables, are all produced on the farm. Ask for the owners home cooked, fresh fish dish. The hotel even makes its own rose flavoured gin! The gym at Cas Gasi, is probably the best I have seen on the Island of Ibiza. Modern, well kept equipment, looking out over the countryside, through large glass panels. The steam rooms, hydro massage and sauna are also in very good nick. There is always a feeling of efficiency and management around the place. Children are welcome but it may not be suitable for them, as its mostly couples and individuals relaxing in the peaceful countryside, while enjoying the Islands many attractions.
The location of Cas Gasi is another asset of the Hotel. Very well signposted and easy to find, along good roads. Its about a 20 minute taxi ride from Ibiza town or San Antonio and two of the Island most famous nightclubs, Amnesia and Privilege, are less than ten minutes away in the local village of San Rafel. The nearby village of Santa Gertrudis is full of little artisan restaurants (make sure to visit Destino for scrumptious, modern twist, tapas) and galleries. Nearby San Mateu, is also worth a visit for its local wines and country side produce. Check out the courtyard of Can Cires bar and restaurant there. The area is a gateway to the beautiful countryside of Ibiza, the one that is hidden from the tourist trail and only found by people who appreciate what the real Ibiza has to offer.
