Went here on an all incusive 2 week break to unwind and relax..... and we did exactly that!

Arrived around 6pm- transfer via taxi so took around 1 hr 15 mins. Greeted by reception and porter took our bags to our room. We had room 1195 which was directly next to the pool! Very good.We were offered upgrade to sea view but preferred where we were in the end, and happy not to pay extra £14 pppn to upgrade - no need.

Complex is very nice indeed.

Buffet breakfast 7:30 am till 10:30am which is great when youre still getting into the time zone still. Nice selection.

Lunch starts at 12 in the buffet restaurant but we only had lunch there twice as it gets a bit repetitive when you go there in the evening as well! The beach bar is the best place for lunch really... from 12 - 5 its open for food.

snacks out near reception 4-6pm, and again 10-12pm. SO you're never short of food!

There are 2 restuarants too - Italian one, and other one. You can book for these once for every week you are there. They are pretty average when you compare to a good restaurant over here. WOrth a visit though, and a good break from the buffet!

Beach is gorgeous. Sunrise, Sunsets... sand, blue seas. Beach bar, entertainment staff doing things all day, you can get snorkel gear (get there early though as popular), or take a pedalo out, or canoe.

Pool is nice - gets pretty warm though as its not a deep pool.By the afternoon it was too much sitting in the sun and the pool wasnt cooling you down! We tended to sit on the beach from around 8-9am when it was cooler. The sea is nice to swim in.... If you snorkel some days there are jelly fish out there so beware!

The Rooms are clean, spacious and towels replenished and bed linen changed as often as you request. Ground floor meant a few bugs came in, and large crabs tapped on the outside of the patio doors........ but i'm sure they werent trying to get in!

I was ill on the second day with something i ate..... few others i spoke to had similar. Some talk it was the fruit, some say it was the eggs..... whatever it was.... i didn't eat it again and was fine- just a bit wary!

All the staff are helpful... they put on a show every night ont he stage near the pool at 9:30 - 10:30. There is a nightclub open till 2. Salsa lessons by the pool in the afternoon, games etc.

Shop open selling cigars, rum etc, and another selling nik naks to take home and t shirts.

There is diving available if you like too.

I highly recommend the HAVANA overnight tour with the Tropicana show - well worth the visit. Interestingplace. SO much to see.

Also , went on the Catamaran trip to the Islands just off Varadero... Lovely but mosquitos there (and none at Breezes!).

Overall a fantastic holiday. I would definately go back to Cuba, even that resort. Many Canadians there had been back years and years - 8 or 9 ~!!

Book it !

just came bak from super club on friday 26th july after having an amazing 2 weeks weather was fantastic although the outside show had to be deferred to disco hall due to weather problems, but through the day it was hot i had an ocean view and i left air condition on all ahe time ;which was heaven wehen you came back on an evening or day out.wine is not nice in main buffet so stay away from drinking it,it tastes like vineagar.staff were friendly and the room was immaculate clean .we met loads of new friends from canada and britian, and some nights we partyied till the wee small hours .we also enjoyed the sing song we had in the piano bar which of couse we initiated ourselves.the italian restraunt was very nice ,good choice of menu.the cuban one was also nice but preferred martinos.bring some extra toiletries and colouring books and crayons .the ssaff and locals will appriecate them.will definitely go back again well worth the monet. couldnt get used to not having to put your hand in your pocket to pay for anything except the odd tip here and there.one day in havana is enough a truly step back in time, but there was a lot of begging and it can get rather annoying after awhile .well happy holidays to anyone going there i envy you philomena and brendan ireland

  • Liked — the size of the room we wre in and the comfortable bed and the ocean view
  • Disliked — no air conditioning in main buffet hall

We arrived at Breezes Jibacoa on 12/07/07 for 15 days not knowing quite what to expect as we were a little nervous after reading some of the reviews on Trip Advisor............but we really needn't have worried this place is a little piece of paradise! Our last holiday was with Sandals and to be perfectly honest they were closely matched!

The staff were polite and helpful, we did notice some guests just demanding drinks etc, but manners cost nothing at the end of the day and a please and thank you went a long way with the staff.

The hotel and rooms are very very clean and everything is thoroughly cleaned every day by the maids and we took some toiletries over with us for them and colouring books etc for their children and we were rewarded by some lovely 'towel art'...swans,dragons etc

The pool is lovely, and there are plenty of sunbeds available at all times, then there is the beautiful beach which although we went in the cuban holidays and there were locals there they did not bother us at all and were went out snorkelling on the reef which was magnificent. We also participated in the many watersports e.g kayaks, windsurfing and catamaran

The weather was fantastic as you are slightly sheltered behind a hill so you don't get some of the rain etc

The food was great too from the buffet restaurant where the staff were very helpful refilling water glasses etc and there are different
themed nights so the food is varied, on particular nights there is an excellent cuban band that comes into play they really were very good. The other two restaurants were very nice too and the fillet steak in the italian restaurant was amazing! We were concerned about what the food was going to be like as we had read reviews that it was
bland etc, there is nothing whatsoever wrong with the food it was varied and plenty of choices, after all this is the caribbean and you will find on most islands that the food is mostly with rice or pasta but for us we thoroughly enjoyed the food, a nice touch was that they did a 5pm and 11pm buffet for people that were peckish and there was always cakes etc in the fridge by the bar in reception.

We went on the morning hike with mike and that was great and we met some local farmers who gave us sugar cane, coconut and cherries and the views from the hike were awesome! The entertainment crew were fun and some of the shows were very good.

We met some lovely people Maggie & Eric, Mark & Caroline and gang and the wonderful Baldwins who hopefully we will meet up with soon

We had a problem with one of the organised trips to Varadero but that was sorted and then we did the Havana overnight trip. I am nervous whilst abroad in foreign cities but i felt safe in Havana and it is a must whilst visiting Cuba!

The virgin rep was not available at the hotel as often as we would have liked but that is probably our only gripe

We were expecting a hotel with major problems and bad food but after being there ourselves we have worked out that you just can't please everybody and some people will complain about the water being wet and the sky being blue ...but for us it was a wonderful and beautiful
place to relax and unwind and even though we said we would never go to the same place twice we will be returning again next year without a doubt!

We returned on 5th July from an 18 night stay at Superclubs Breezes Jibacoa - my 7th & my husband’s 5th visit to this hotel. This trip was to celebrate our first anniversary, after getting married at the resort in June last year.

Having read some of the recent reviews, I was concerned that possibly the standards of service and food etc had gone down hill a great deal since our last visit a year ago. In reality we found the complete opposite.

The food is good, with plenty of choice. There is a different theme each night in the buffet – Jamaican, Cuban, Mexican, Seafood, Gala, Oriental & Italian. We especially enjoyed the Mexican, Seafood and Oriental nights – try the paella & lobster on seafood night and the sushi on oriental night!

Both the a la carte restaurants – Martinos (Italian) and La Taberna (Cuban) were excellent for both food and service. The filet mignon in Martinos is one of the best I have ever tasted & the seafood salad starter is very tasty. The sirloin beef steak in La Taberna is very good too. Lunch is also served at the beach grill daily – pizza, hot dogs, cheeseburgers, fish, chicken, salads, fries etc. Snacks are available at 4.00pm and 11.00pm daily. Also, every Tuesday for Cuban Day there is a BBQ on the beach.

The drinks are very good, with great service in all of the bars – special mention to Brayled & Roger at the beach bar, Yuset, Jose, Jenny & Adrian at the pool bar, Odeitty, Hector & all the staff at the piano bar. Brayled at the beach bar makes the best Chocolate Monkeys!! The piano bar is the place to go for a Spanish coffee in the evenings, the bar is air conditioned, and Alex the piano player, who is a great guy and a very talented musician, is there Monday to Thursday. A special mention also has to go to German & Elaine in Martinos, Tania, Gilberto & Maria in La Taberna and Ada in the buffet, as well as Vivian in Guest Relations who is one of the nicest ladies you will ever meet.

The hotel and grounds are kept spotlessly clean and tidy, by an extremely hard working team of cleaners and gardeners.

I find it hard to believe that so many people have recently complained about the staff being unfriendly, unwelcoming, not smiling etc – this was simply not the case when we were there. Admittedly, there were a few (and only a few!) members of staff in the buffet who were not particularly friendly and it almost seemed like an effort expecting them to do their jobs at times, but on the whole I would say that the vast majority of the staff here are excellent. Having returned to Jibacoa so many times, we do know many of the staff, but there were additional staff members who we had never met who still greeted us with a friendly ‘hola!’ and a big smile each time we saw them. Unfortunately, I must agree with one of the most recent reviews though, that some people can be quite abrupt and rude to the staff which is totally unnecessary.

We took a taxi (booked through the tour desk next to reception) to Varadero for 80CUC, leaving the hotel at 9am and returning at 3pm. There is also a bus tour offered each Tuesday & Thursday for 25CUC per person, but seeing as there were 4 of us we decided to go with the taxi and not be restricted in where we went and how long we spent there etc. In all of our visits to Jibacoa, we had never been to Varadero, so decided we would see what it had to offer. The taxi driver was very good, and suggested places we might like to go, and suggested a place for lunch. We started at the market in Varadero, which I found much more enjoyable that the one in Havana. We went to see the golf course and the beach – which was beautiful, soft white sand and crystal clear water. We then took a drive through new Varadero and got to catch a glimpse of some of the hotels there. We then went to Josone park, which is a beautiful place, and had lunch at La Campana Cuban restaurant while we were there. The restaurant and the waiter were excellent. The waiter gave us the menu, and pointed out that they had a special for 10.50 CUC per person (approx £6), which we decided to try. We couldn’t believe how much food we were given for the money!! We started with soup, then the main course arrived – a dish for each of us half filled with pork and half with shredded beef, then a huge bowl of rice & black beans, a plate of salad and banana chips. This was followed by guava ice cream and coffee…..great value for money!

We had another very enjoyable stay at Jibacoa, and will be going back. If anyone has any questions, feel free to e-mail me on Mand2512@aol.com.

Good Things
Clean, tidy, pretty resort
Food - I thought it was good in the buffet, the Cuban restaurant food wasn't as good as the Italian though.
Staff - 95% really friendly wonderful people.
Location - Beautiful hills around the resort
Beach - Nice and Big
Loungers - Loads on the beach and by the pool
Entertainment staff - All nice peope
Meet some great new friends
Nice games room
Room - big and bright
Bathrooms - Clean and also spacious
Towels - very clean, soft and big
Coffees - They do great Spanish Coffees
Beach Bar/Grill - Nice lunches (the fish and burgers were especially nice) Jose was a delight with his "Lovely Jovely's"

Bad Things
Drinks - only two bar tenders make good pina coladas, Yusets were the best! Most of them don't bother to blend the drink with ice, they just poor the coconut mixture over ice, which meant it never got cold or tasted very nice. Yusets though were yummy.
Non Smoking Piano Bar - The smokers had nowhere cool to sit at night!
Pool - Lots of tiles need to be replaced
Beach - Locals staring at you is a bit intimidating, although they do it in a nice way, and the sand could do with raking in the mornings like they did at a Jamaican resort we stayed at.
Dog wardens - Men dragging dogs off the beach, a bit upsetting for me.
Balconies - Not that private, as only railings between rooms, complete 4 foot walls would be better.
Nightclub was always empty, thats the guests fault though.

Overall I would go back, as value for money it is unbeatable. Such a relaxing place.

  • Liked — The beautiful gardens
  • Disliked — The mosquitos - I was their best friend for two weeks!
