Well I travelled from March 22 to March 29 with a very large group of 60 people and what an experience it was. I had a beach view room with an amazing view everyday and it was very clean. The beach was breath taking and because it is so big you always had your own space. The pool is also fantastic very large and lots of chairs. I like to be busy on my vacation and I could always find something to do, but there are also lots of people just sitting quietly reading or tanning so there is the best of both worlds.
The food is good with a wide selection but there is not a lot of taste with the exeption of the breads (awesome) and anything with chocolate for the desserts. Nelson makes a great omelet in the morning and freshly made paste & sauce for lunch is also very good. You will definately not starve. The Italian restaurant was exceptionally good all the food seem to have lots of taste and flavours..it's a must try!!
The pool bar definitely makes the best drinks at the resort and it is well worth the walk from the beach to get them.
The staff is great very friendly and fun, an Hole and a Garcias go a long way. If you are thinking of things to bring for the staff as gifts all personal items such as: razors, panty hose, tampons, deodorant, tooth brushes & paste, toilet paper, kleenex, lip sticks, make up, perfume samples, toys, puzzle books, spanish books, gum, peanut butter & crackers, candies, chocolate bars, any thing you can think of that you use on a regular basis they appreciate they don't expect it but they are thankful. Zip lock bags are a great thing to fill with things and leave for them. Remember to there are staff memebers like the kitchen staff, entertainment staff and grounds crew that do not get tips or gitfs if you would like to give them gifts you can put different things in the large zip lock bags and give it to one and ask them to share it. Again not expected but it does make you feel good to give back.
The trips off the resort are very interesting and certainly made me appreciate how fortunate we are in Canada. I did the Havana trip and learned a great deal about the Cuban way of life and their history...well worth it. Take a roll of toilet paper with you when you travel off the resort. It is almost overwhelming when you are off the resort to see the poverty but if you are thinking of giving to people take extra CUP's for the ones who want you to take their picture, you will come across school children and they love to get bubble gum, silly pencils, note books, sandles, toys...etc..all things you can get at the dollar store. Again the little zip lock bags are very handy to put things in to hand out or just to carry them around in. This is a great way to give your tour guide and bus driver a gift also if you choose. Again it is not expected but very appreciated.
There were 60 of us on this trip and I didn't hear one complaint about the resort, the staff, or the accomidations...that says a lot I think. We took a vote and have decided we would love to come back to this resort next year...because it can and did accomodate all of our needs the entire stay. Enjoy your stay and your Cuban experience! You will come home with a greater appreciation of our every day way of life and how the little things are a great part of that!!!

We just returned from Breezes Jibacoa and had a great time. This my second visit and I will be back again. The food is great and staff is mosty friendly but you have to remember they work long days for little money so not all are happy all the time. The a la carte resturants are exceptional. They both have the best soups I have ever tasted. There is always lots of food at the buffet and it is a huge dining area. The hike up the mountain with Michel is a blast and if anyone thinks of it bring him a rubber snake as he is a bit of a jokster and his fake tarantula is getting old.

Just getting round to writing this review, we stayed at the SuperClubs Breezes Jibacoa for 7 nights back in Oct 2005 and had a great holiday.

The resort sits beside two large green hills and has a lovely beach (very stoney under foot).

The resort is clean and modern and the food was above average for an all inclusive. Seafood on thursdays was excellent with eat all you want lobster!!

The entertainment was OK, a bit repetative after a while, but good fun all the same. resort has a good size pool, jacuzzi, tennis courts and water sport facilities.

All inclusive drinks were very good but lacking the fresh fruit element you would get in some other caribean resorts.

Excellent cigar shop on site, much cheaper than you will find in Havana or even the Duty free.

Transfer from the airport is around 45 mins to 1 hour in which you get to see a good bit of Havana life as you transit through.

All in all a great resort and if i was to stay in cuba again would definately book here again.

  • Liked — Couples only resort, No screaming children
  • Disliked — Distance from Havana city centre

After reading all the positive reviews we decided to try this resort. At first when we arrived ,we were lukewarm to the place as it was so quiet but after a day the serenity grew on us and we decided that a week here is not long enough.
There is no shortage of chairs at the beach or pool and no long lineups for food, the bars or anywhere.
All the people are fantastic. The animation team very friendly, the bartenders exceptional, the chambermaid Janet a delightfull woman, Mario with the horses very friendly, Adrian at the scooters always had a wave for us. The staff at the front desk always had a smile and courteous. We met the Jamaican chef and he said it can be a challenge working in Cuba but he always had fresh fruit and meat , the freshest fish and tasty pastas, turkey, pizza, burgers and hotdogs and chicken and the lobster night was exceptional. I can not say a bad word about either of the a la carte restaurants or the buffet. You would have to be an extremely fussy person to not like the food here. The only things that they don't have here is maple syrup--they use honey to drizzle on the pancakes and french toast, and they don't have relish just ketchup and mustard for the burgers.
We did not find a need for insulated cups. The bars are everywhere so no big deal to get off the derriere and get another drink. I also dislike the Bubba mugs. They make us Canadians look like glutons. We didn't see any obese Cubans. Guess it is because they ration their food. Perhaps we could use a lesson here.
We had an ocean front room. From the balcony to the beach it was 45 yards. How amazing is that. The rooms are very large with king size beds and large bathrooms with a bidet type attachment. Deep tub and shower and no shortage of hot water.
Last week it was windy at the resort. People only went in the ocean 4 out of the 7 days we were there as jellyfish could be found. Snorkelling here was great for beginners and the more advanced if you swam out a bit.
Don't miss Havana. Thankyou to Jorge"s operation. Edwardo a great taxi driver and our guide Ariel a real super person. It was almost the best day of the trip.
We met some honeymooners here and they said it was a bit quiet with a definitely older crowd but they wanted a place that was peacefull. Don't get me wrong, they have great music with dance classes and beach games and lots to do if you are so inclined.

  • Liked — we were 45 yards from the beach

We have always gone to different places on our vacations but retuned to Jibacoa to enjoy the awesome snorkling.

Everything was as great as we rembered from two years ago, except there was a jelly-fish invasion. On our last full day the flag changed to yellow and we went in with caution and enjoyed the reef.

On our second trip out I noticed the flag had been changed to red. We started in and to make a long story short I was attacked. A very painful experience. I'm writng this review because I can not say enough about the wonderful care I received from the doctor and nurse on staff at the resort. We have never been to another resort with such good on site care. I can't even imagine the pain if I had had to wait to be treated .

Would I take the risk again? No!

But I woud go back to Jibacoa
