Overall our experience was great. We are a couple that really didn't have alot of expectations, and also picked this resort on the basis that my parents had been here a few years ago and they also enjoyed the hotel.
Staff:
The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly. I don't believe that we encountered one person that was rude or unkind. The lobby staff were exceptionally friendly. When we had arrived at the hotel I realized that I had lost the hotel voucher to sign in with. the staff were friendly and patient with us and we got a internet card so that I could go up and email the voucher to the hotel manager. Even with that confusion and before they received the voucher they signed us in and gave us our room key and told us not to worry about the paper work.
Rooms:
The room that we stayed in faced the gazebo in the garden and was nice and quiet. There was lots of space in the room and the house-keeper did a fabulous job we never had a problem with cleanliness. The only downside to the room was the balcony, we had to share with the room next to us and there was no barrier between to the two sections. But for the maybe 20 mins that we spent on the balcony this was a very small inconvience.
Beach:
Was great! Unfotunately there was a storm front that came through while we were there and by the time lunch rolled around the wind was kicking up the water and because of the amount of coral it wasn't wise to swim in the afternoons. The snorkelling was amazing and so close to the beach that you didn't have to swim miles out to see lots of sea life. If you want more fish around you take some bread from the buffet and you can feed the fish in the water. If you are looking for a beach and water that you just want to sit in the water and go with the waves, this is not the beach for you, the amount of coral makes this very difficult.
Food:
I am an extremely picky eater and I didn't find it that difficult to find food that i could eat. The chicken in the buffet restaurant was 100x better than what I received in the a la carte restaurant. My boyfriend is a much less picky eater than myself and he never had any issues with finding something to eat and he was even extremely impressed that they had HP sauce!
Excursions:
I would definately recommend going on the Catamaran trip. It was so much fun and the tour guide that we had on the boat was hilarious and could speak, no word of a lie, atleast 8 different languages fluently! The only downside to the trip was that because of the storm front that had gone through the snorkelling wasn't all that great because the sand had been stirred up. But the beach at Cayo Blanco is amazing. The sand bar goes our sooo far and the water doesn't go past your knees in most places.
Medical Services:
Unfortunately I had to utilize this at one point during the trip. I woke up one night with chills and ended up getting a 24 hour flu, luckily it was on the worst weather day of the trip so I didn't feel too bad spending the day in bed with a fever. I had to get up at one point and go to the doctor to get some Tylenol so that I could handle the muscle aches that I had. I would definately recommend not leaving home without some kind of cold or flu medication just in case. I even went to the doctor to pick up some gravol for the Catamaran trip just in case I needed it and I had no issues with getting it.
Overall both my boyfriend and I had a great time and would eventually go back to this hotel. I do want to mention that it is not a "party" hotel. If you want that then look somewhere else, this is the place to go for a nice quiet relaxing vacation.
