My boyfriend and I stayed there Dec 9-16th. The room was very nice and clean, although it didn’t have a fridge as I was told there was suppose to be. Only ocean view rooms have a fridge but not kept stocked very well.
You have to buy bottled water, it is not supplied by the resort.
$1CUC for a 1.5L bottle, at the shops but you can refill it at the lobby bar.
Something to keep in mind when you are staying there, is when you are exchanging money at the lobby. MAKE sure you ask for a receipt as it is not offered.

Canadians-bring Canadian currency and exchange it there. We brought EUROs as we were told they were worth money in Cuba but that’s not the case. They do not charge a surcharge as well. They have umbrellas available; just sign them out for the week at the front desk.
The week we were there, we only had sun for 2 ½ days so it was quite boring for us the first dew days as we like to party and sun ourselves. When the sun came out there were lots of sand, water activities. There is a hot tub to the left of the back of the hotel. It is nice but sometimes chilly.
Entertainment at night starts at 9:30. Try and get a seat inside or out depending on the weather, around 9 as it does fill up. The shows are alright. Michael, one entertainer is great. So funny, a real jokester. He is also the tour guide for the daily walk except on Tuesday and Thursday’s in the afternoon at 4:30. He takes you up the road a bit to see a few homes, locals. It is a nice 45 minute walk.
We meet some people there so we hung out together and made it fun for ourselves. For us the tourist made a difference. We met LOTS of people, mostly from Canada and talked up a storm.
Not the friendliest workers at the hotel. We would order our drinks and smile, and then they would continue to talk amongst themselves. We thought this was very rude.
There is one worker who is always singing, just so happy to be there. He made me laugh.
The piano bar is the place to go after dinner-open 6pm-2am.
The two guys that work up there are amazing. They are always very helpful and courteous. If you like to play cards, bring a deck up there because the piano is seldom playing.

Food-Well, we certainly have had better. The food is very bland, cold. They have a Mexican night on Wednesday that was good. Lobster night on Thursday that was the best dinner buffet of all. Make sure you line up 10 minutes before it opens. Not the best choice for fruits, salads. Desserts are not very sweet as we know them. Omlettes are made to order for Breakfast, Pasta for Lunch.
The a la cartes are nice, especially the Cuban one. We had the Beef Tenderloin and it was so good. There is also a Beach Grill that is so nice, open 12pm-5pm. The food is made to order and hot.
There is not always food available so be sure to check the times of the Buffet.

Drinks-So nice and plenty of it. Take a look at the menu on the bar to see what is available. If there is something that you want and not on the menu, the piano bar will always make it. We loved the Jibacoa Coffees. They take a little longer to make but worth every minute. Make sure to bring a larger cup or mug with a lid on it. The cups they give you are so small-2 sips and it’s gone.
When buying to take home, the price is the same at the airport as it is at the resort.
$3.85 CUC’s (convertible Pecos) which is about $5 CDN for 1 liter.

Tours, etc-When you are going for the orientation with your representative, ASK questions.
We booked a Jeep Safari Tour which was awesome-$69 CUC’s each., worth every penny but he did not tell us that we would have to pay for extras like at the cave tour. You can bring your camera in but it will cost you $5. Unless you have a good camera that takes good pictures in the dark, don’t waste your time. A local offered us a DVD for $25 CUC. He walked around with us taping our tour. It was nice to have but not very good quality. Gorgeous inside but very dark and slippery, bumpy so be sure to wear good walking shoes. Very hot and humid as well.
We also visited a farm with a traditional Cuban lunch, not too appealing to me but very nice.
We swam in a cave of fresh water and then went snorkeling in the ocean-this was the best thing on the tour. I have never snorkeled before but it didn’t take long till I learned to relax and enjoy it. Absolutely beautiful.

We also went on a Scooter ride. There are 2 a day. Sign up in the lobby to the right of the desk. There are different tours so make sure you read up on them before signing up. You can always change your mind afterwards.
It is $15 CUC for each Scooter. The scooter will hold two people. We visited an 80 year old woman who makes everything out of Bamboo-Hats, Purses, Baskets, Fans. Very nice and cheap-wonderful woman. He took us to a port-Hidden Port where ships would hide out and to the tallest bridge where you could do some shopping.

We also did a trip to Havana. Very interesting life they lead. We went on a horse, buggy tour which was $20 for about 1 hour. Nice way to see Havana. Rum Factory, Cigar Factory, you have to pay to go inside about $5-$10 CUC each person.
All in all we had a pretty good time with exception to the weather. If you would like to ask a few questions, drop me an email and I will be happy to send one back. blmarr71@rogers.com

My wife and I visited Jibacoa between 23-30 December. We had an Ocean view room (building 15).
Keep in mind that is 14+ years resort situated between Havana and Varadero (around 1 hour from each of them). It’s relaxing, calm and it offers a lot of good trips (including Havana and Varadero) - a nice to have especially on cloudy days.

My grades (on 10 bases) are:

- Room: 9 (clean, with air conditioner, TV, fridge, CD player and safety box, but it has some old furniture)
- Personnel: 10
- Food: 10 (buffet food is actually much better and divers than to any Canadian buffet)
- Security on resort: 10
- Personnel effort to make you feeling good: 10
- Beach: 10 (some corals are at just 15-20 meters from the beach)
- Resort alleys and buildings: 10 (clean, nice and well maintained)

Average personal satisfaction: 10

Will I go back? Certainly yes, especially if I would not find another resorts having good reviews.

BAD Things:

1) Sunwing fly was 7 (seven!) hours delayed when we went to Cuba and another 2 hours when we went back to Canada.
2) The only personal bad experience we had was when we decided to visit some farms around the resort. At the first intersection we’ve met a black guy named TONY waiting for “victims”. He speaks quite well English and French and he offered us to show the village. Everything was ok until we decided to return to the resort and we gave him some presents (2 T-shirts for him, dentifrice, sweets and other things for kids). At this point he became nervous because we don’t follow him to the rest of the village. He started to intimidate and menace us. We clearly asked him to go away and we just ignored him. I really don’t understand what was in his mind. Two days later I saw him walking on the beach, possible searching for new victims (Cubans can walk on the beach but cannot approach the sunshades or the resort). AVOID THIS GUY, IT’S DANGEROUS AND HAS A BAD BEHAVIOUR! The farmers we’ve met around the resort are friendly, nice and agreeable. Tony was the exception.
Also when we visited Havana we were surprised to see that people ask money to you even when you just take a photo of them. But this has nothing to do with Jibacoa EXCELLENT resort.

Hello all;

My husband, Chris and I, stayed at SuperClubs Breezes Jibacoa late November to early December/06 for 14 glorious days. We had mostly 25-30 degree weather until the last 4 days where the weather turned windy and showery, although the temperature didn't dip below 25, still a nice temperature compared to minus degrees back in Sherwood Park Alberta.
The relaxation was the best, no one bothered you if you didn't want to be bothered, the staff were excellent and we certainly enjoyed the service of the buffet staff. The food was not what we expected but was good in its own right, we never starved that is for sure. Fresh omelettes being cooked in the morning for breakfast, toasted sandwiches, make your own, at the lunch buffet as well as a fellow serving up fresh pasta with whatever you want in the sauce, very good. Chicken, pork, fish and rice are at every meal as well as potatoes, vegetables and the desserts were very tasty. My husband especially enjoyed the rice pudding, I enjoyed the different flavours of ice cream at lunch. The freshly baked buns and croissants are definitely addictive. Tried the different daily daiquiris being offered in the lobby bar and enjoyed most of them. Stuck mostly to rum and pineapple juice as our drinking choices. We had cappucinos every day and can't seem to find one here to compare to the Cuban coffee, excellent.
The gal that cleaned our room, Yallina, was very pleasant and left us with towel designs most every day. We enjoyed the service of Marilin in the buffet restaurant and Marilin got to know how the mister liked his coffee and how many cups he drank every morning with his breakfast.
All the staff were very pleasant and the grounds were kept beautiful by the hard working gardeners. The pool was enjoyable and the beach had an abundance of chairs, never a problem finding a beach or pool chair.
Our tour Rep for Nolitours, Alex, was excellent and went above and beyond for us. Although we have a MasterCard we didn't realilzed that it was an American one, Capital One M/C, and that it would not be accepted in Cuba. Alex came to our rescue and we shall not forget him for it.
We went on three tours, which were very reasonably priced. Ranging in price from $102 CAD to $138 CAD for the two of us. The catamaran trip (70 people on board) to Cayo Blanco was excellent with a stop back at Varadero for the dolphin show and pictures with the dolphins (my dream) for 5 pesos was certainly more than worth it.
We took a tour to Australia (a province in Cuba) where there is a Steam Engine musuem, a steam engine trip to a sugar cane farm where we enjoyed sugar cane raw, a museum where there is war memorabilia from the revolution, and Guama where we visited an Indian village in the middle of the largest swamp in Cuba, and a crocodile farm where the mister, for one peso, had his picture taken with a two year old crocodile hoisted on his shoulders. Our tour guide, Sergio, was very good and told us some of the history of Cuba. The staff on the train were very entertaining and kept us entertained with their music and dancing.
We went for a day tour to Havana where our tour guide, Rafael, gave us more of the history of Cuba. A beautiful city that is being restored. The architecture is spectacular and we didn't have too many problems with people asking for money. There are girls dressed up in costume that for a peso will let you take a picture, as well as older women dressed in costume with huge cigars sitting on doorsteps. They will also let you take a picture of them for one peso. They do not harass though and a firm no was all it took. We visited old Havana, the Havana Club rum museum, Central Havana, and Revolution Square where the government buildings are. We also visited a flea market where we purchased all of our souveniors for home. The most costing $10 pesos. All in all a great day. Lunches were included with all of these tours.
We went to a number of the entertainments offered by the resort and found them acceptable although if you were an early to bed person having a room around the pool wouldn't have been the best choice as the entertainment went until 10:30 or 11:00 most nights. Our suite was at the opposite end of the resort and we didn't hear any noise from the entertainment.

In closing we would like to say that if you want quiet, rest and relaxation this is definitely the place to go and that is what we will be doing again.
Words of caution: be sure that your credit card, Visa or M/C, are not American. You cannot buy Cuban Convertible Pesos from a bank or any other money exchanging office in Canada for sure, not sure of other countries. They are only available in Cuba. The Canadian dollar was exchanging, at the hotel, for $.77329 when we were there.
Well, enough is enough, I could go on forever. Enjoy your stay at SuperClubs Breezes Jibocoa. We did.

Had the pleasure of staying at Breezes Jibacoa for 2 weeks in November. I had read many of the reviews posted on this site (thank you!) and knew we could expect a great time. We were not disappointed.

Check-in - The front desk staff has this down to an art-form. We came in at about 9pm with a bus load of about 30. Several staff members awaited our arrival and had all the room keys, info etc. ready in envelopes with each of our names. We filled in a brief form that they are required to keep on file and then were helped to our room. I don't think we were 15min from walking into the lobby until walking into our room.

Rooms - The rooms are spacious and well equipped. The maid staff does an excellent job of keeping them cleaned and well stocked. We loved the swan towels! Just a little hint with the hairdryers - you have to hold the blue button on the inside of the handle to get the dryer to run. : )

Food - Plenty of it, plenty of variety, something for everyone. You would be hard pressed to go hungry at this resort. Yes sometimes the food is not what you expect at home - oh yeah, you're not at home. This is another country (not to mention the fact that they are a third world country and do not have access to everything we have at home) so the cooking style (spices, etc) can be different. Even after two weeks we were not tired of the food and were never once sick. Make sure to enjoy the al a carte restaurants as well.

Beaches - Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. The sand is lovely, the water is warm and because there is only one other resort in the area (which has its own section of beach) there is always plenty of room. We never had a problem getting a beach lounger (bring a pillow from your room for comfort) and had plenty of room to move with the sun.

Snorkeling - Having read the reviews on the snorkeling we decided to take a quick course before heading down. At the recommendation of several reviewers we brought our own equipment. For the entire first week we snorkeled a couple of hours everyday. What a wonderful experience. There is so much to see and you do not have to go out very far to see it. We had never snorkeled before and we loved it so much we'll definitely make it a part of future vacations and we are even signed up for scuba lessons.

Staff - I can not express how wonderful the staff is. Everyone is so pleasant and helpful. Hello to Arianna (waitress in the buffet) and Elio (Sunquest tour rep) and all the other staff. If you need something just ask. At no time did I encounter a staff member without a smile on their face and a greeting of Hola.

Tipping - Though this resort is all inclusive and tipping is not allowed, it occurs anyways. Be careful when tipping though. Even though it occurs quite frequently it is still taboo with the hotel management so be discreet. Do not feel that you need to tip; you will receive the same service regardless. That being said tipping is appreciated. Also, tipping doesn't have to be monetary. Instead of packing those half used shampoo & conditioner bottles leave them for the staff. You know those perfume and makeup samples you have collecting at the bottom of your drawer that have never been opened - bring them along; the ladies love to receive them.

Tours - There are many scooter tours offered by the resort. Believe or not even in two weeks we ran out of time and did not get a chance to experience any of them but everyone we talked to loved them. We did take the overnight trip to Havana with a trip to a tobacco plantation & factory the next day. If you do nothing else do this trip. The tour guides are very informative. Havana is definitely a site to see but a couple of cautions - the hotel you stay at (TRYP Havana) should not have a 5 star rating; giving it 1 star would be generous. Though the lobby is beautiful the rooms and hallways are not. The carpet in our room looked like it had never been cleaned. The staff was for the most part very surly. Also, remember you're not back home, the living conditions are certainly different than we are used to. The Tropicana show is fabulous. You can't go to Cuba and miss out on this fabulous cabaret. The tobacco factory & plantation tours were very interesting and highly recommended.
Though you will find many street vendors, performing artists & such around Havana they are not persistent. If you are not interested in having your photo taken or buying something simply say no. Unlike some other Caribbean destinations, a no is all it takes and they will move on to someone else.

The people - The Cuban people are very friendly and welcoming. Most speak English very well and are patient with those trying out their Spanish.

As I said in my caption - You won't go wrong with this as your Cuban holiday resort.

My husband and I stayed from Dec 9 - 16th. We had an excellent time, met great people (mostly Canadians!). The buffet was good, we had a lot to choose from. The staff were friendly and helpful. The disco was usually dead, but people usually hung around the resort instead. If you want to party, this is not the place to go.
If you are planning to go to Havana, go as a day trip. We stayed overnight at the Hotel National, we paid way too much for what we got. The food in Havana was good, large portions(the taxi drivers we had recommended good cheap restaurants), however, before you sit down to eat make sure there is no service charge. At one of the restaurants we went to we were charged $30 service charge. On Monday and Tuesday the markets are closed.
