25th Anniversary: First time visiting Cuba.
Loved the country view, the night we arrived got a nice welcome.
we had a garden View from our room it was very nice. room was very clean and cozy.

Our meals at the buffet were fantastic and plenty of variety. The Beach grill was fantastic as well. Service was great and the waitress and waiters were very friendly and helpful. It was like being with friends you haven't seen for awhile.

The night entertainment varied every night with participation of both staff and the audience.

the ocean was awesome, warm and the beach was very clean.
Plenty of activities at the beach and at the pool, if you just want to stay at the resort. Lots of tours. The one we really enjoyed was the Nature Tour if you like jeep riding. Both the guide and scenery were great.

If you are normal people and looking for a great time then this is the place. You will not regret it. we are planning to go back next year.

Stayed here for 10 nights booked through Virgin Holidays online paid around £850 each.

Overall really enjoyed the holiday - the best part was the surroundings and location of the hotel. I loved that it was the only hotel for miles around, not really suitable then for those looking for more active nightlife.

The worst part was the food - like others I suffered stomache upsets that continued when I got home to the UK. Good variety of food at breakfast and ate at the beach cafe on lunchtimes, evening meals varied from very good to poor. Found that service tended to be really bad unless you were prepared to tip every waiter in sight! At a resort that is supposed to have a no tipping policy I thought this was wrong.

The beach was great and the beach hogroast on Tuesday afternoon was fab. Didnt get involved in any of the activities as its not my thing but they seemed to be good throughout the day - the evening entertainment was very 'butlins-esque'.

Tips: Go to Havana and Tropicana - its a MUST! Remember to take long trousers (gents) with you on the day trip as Tropicana only allows you in if you are wearing full length trousers (something our rep 'forgot' to tell us)! And if you have never been swimming with dolphins before then DO IT - Cuba is one of the cheapest places you can do this and although its commercialised its a really great trip.

All in all a good holiday - would I go again, probably not as there are too many other places to explore!

We have just returned from Jibacoa on Mondya Sept. 11. We have visited this holet in the past, and will probably do it again. It was very hot last week, and the beach had a green flag everyday. The reason I return to this hotel is the staff. They are incredible. If you take a moment to ask them about themselves, their family, any children, they will take the oppurinity to ask about you. The more you can communicate with them, the better it is for them. Some of them have learned English very well, and some are still alittle unsure about the correct words to use, but explain it to them, and you have made a fast friend. The rooms were very clean. The food may not be to some peoples liking. It can be a little on the bland side, and the same dishes, with a little twist. However, save some room for the chocolate dessert, and the freshly made bread. That would be the reason why my clothes are a little tight this week. If you like snorkling, very good, but please remember, if you stand up on the corel, you are breaking, try to go out far, it gets very deep, and you will see large schools of fish --just incredible. Not to many people in the disco last week. If you are looking for a nice place to relax, this is the place for you. If you are looking for a big party, with lots of people, go somewhere else. Overall I was very please with our choice to return to this hotel. Maybe we see you there next time!!

  • Liked — Very clean, friendly staff, awesome beach
  • Disliked — Some mosquitoes at night, the hotel did fog it out which helped
  • Tips/Secrets: — Take a thermal coffee mug with lid for the beach with you, very small plastic cups

Can't argue with the beautiful beach and no hawkers. On arrival though, a 3 hour wait for the room. Right from the off the barstaff are a bit cool if there is no tip (sitting there with luggage !)

We found the food to be pretty good overall and the Italian restaraunt is wonderful.

Make sure and take your own watch if making a phone call, take all the convertible pesos you need with you and forget about using bank/credit cards to get cash without major hassles (any U.S affiliated cards/banks are a definite no-go).

We were threatened with being reprted to airport immigration by the reception staff on our way out if we didn't cough up $15 a piece for towels supposedly lost. Make no mistake, at the end of the day for some staff members (not all I stress) your money is very obviously priority number one.

The hotel maids are absoloutely fantastic and do a great job. Please remember to leave a gift (earings, western top etc) for them. Also the beach bar staff are more laid back and will look after you.

Great diving, but be warned...take your own gear if you have it and take extra care if your a beginner as the underwater supervision was a bit iffy.

The tours are fine if you don't mind hearing about the happy liberated Cuba (make your own mind up on that one), but far better to hire a moped on your own or head off to Havana independently. It's a safe city and lots of fun.

Overall we had a great relaxing time and got a real kick out of Cuba. We would reccomend it for sure.

The ride from Varadero was a little long after a long days flight, but from the moment you pull into the resort from the highway you feel relaxed. The reception is warm and when you leave the lobby you descend stairs into a wonderful world. The ocean and scenery are spectacular. The layout and facilities are great. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and clean. This hotel really makes you feel like you should leave your wallet in the room and enjoy your stay on them. The scuba diving is free, and of course the other facilities are as well. The beach is private and has plenty of open spaces to lay out. The pool is a good size if you don't like sea-water. We would have liked to have a swim up bar, but you can't have everything. There were plenty of good tours, and they were very open to booking a cab or scooter for your own excursion. We took a cab into Havana, and Varadero. Havana is truly one of the worlds best cities to visit. The place is so culturally rich. Overall this resort is great, the price was tremendous, the staff were great, and the facilities were spcaious.
