Just returned from 2 weeks at Breezes Jibicoa, and had a fabulous time. Anyone who complains about this resort is out to lunch. I can not say enough about this resort, service, people, food....etc!! The grounds are beautiful, as are the people that work here, always quick to say Hola. There is a lot to do, or as little as you want. The food is great, I am a fussy eater, but even so, there was always a good variety. Again, anyone who complains obviously are looking to pick fault as they changed the menus every evening, besides how many people really eat something totally different every day, we all eat left overs once in a while. The evening entertainment was great, and the dancers were fantastic. We went to Havana, and the rest of the time just relaxed on the beach, and there is always enough loungers for everyone. I would return here in a heartbeat, and plan to go again. I am really glad we chose this resort over Varadero, as this is totally secluded, quiet and very private.

I had read the reviews posted on this site and others and decided that this resort would be a good choice as it seemed to have a little bit of everything, a nice pool, snorkelling, access to the countryside, good food, good entertainment & nice rooms.

From the moment we arrived to the time we left we had a great time. The reviews posted explaining the facilities are spot on and the tips are pretty good as well; I am not sure what I can add.

The main benefit for us from the location of Jibacoa was that it was surrounded by farm land and, apart from the Italian resort (currently closed) and a couple of Cuban camp sites within 0.5 miles, it is not a touristy area. If you are confident on a moped you can hire one and explore the local area (which is beautiful). If not you can hire a bike and get out and about (but probably harder work outside the winter months)

One of the best scooter tours is guided by Adrian (I think) and goes to Santa Cruz. This gives you a real feel for Cuba and an average town. Other people we meet who stayed in Varadero or the Cayo’s didn’t get the opportunity to see life and seemed quite envious of our trip.

We thought the food was great, there was always a variety of dishes and we thought it was much better that other all-inclusive resorts we have stayed in.

Every one of the staff did a good job, from the entertainment staff to the gardeners and the maintenance men. I couldn’t fault any of them.

The other guests we meet were fabulous. Being Brits and knowing we were in the minority before we got to the resort was a little daunting, but Canadians in general are really sociable bunch. The people we meet were a lot of fun and very welcoming and really made our trip.

As a rule we never return to somewhere we have already been too, and there are so many places in the world to visit, but was have made an exception to the rule and when we next need a chill out holiday where we can guarantee we will be entertained and enjoy ourselves we will be back (hopefully fairly soon)!

To anyone who is travelling to Breezes it is a wonderful place to be it is a great way to escape. My best friend and I travelled to Cuba as an all girls trip, but not to be expecting anything but we both had a blast of a time. But I also fell in love with someone in Cuba and we are keeping in contact by postage mail. You never know what happens in life the un expected is usually the keepers. Cubans are lovely people once you get to know them. Best tip learn some spanish before you go they respect our english language so we should also respect their spanish language. Alittle is better then none.
I agree with allot of the travellers the food was excellent and so was Martinos the Italian restaurant if you like ceasar salad do not expect the romain lettuce as you will get ice berg lettuce instead. The buffet is amazing as they have a new head chef from Jamiaca excellent carribean food. The Disco is a little empty at times but once people start rolling in and not just standing around it's not too shabby.
The scooters is a must to go on even if you do not know how to ride a motorcycle it is easy as 1.2.3. Speak with Daniel he will guide you. For the best Pina Coladas take the scooter ride to Santa Cruz it is the shopping tour. Trust me you will not go back to a regualr restaurant Pina Coladas it is made fresh.
The staff at the resort are extremly friendly, and love different cultures you will be amazed on how many languages they can speak. Some of the staff memebers can speak more the 5 languages fluently.
Snorkeling is awesome when the tides are not so strong best advice is to wear a t-shirt and some shorts and becareful of the fire coral as you will get burned. You do not feel the burn in the water but trust me coming out you will see them on your skin..so make sure you bring some aloe vera with you as there is no aloe plant at the resort.
When travelling into the resort do bring some used clothes as it is a poor country they cannot afford much, as they make it by with their tips. So a little help is good example toothpaste, shampoos, body soaps and bring some gum as Cubans love to chew gum. They do not have the luxury of gum but on your hike through the valley Mercedes will explain to you and show you what they use for gum. They have a gum tree. The resort is very clean so there is no worries on this part. If you are worried about there water DO not drink the tap water there, alway go up to the bar and ask for their water as it is bottle water they serve. If you question the ice cubes it is safe to have as it is filtered water, but do not have the ice cubes in Habana as it is not filtered HEP B is something we all should worry on. When travelling into old Habana a word of tip.
1) Bring toliet paper with you as there is no toliet paper in the restrooms and do not expect a toliet seat in Habana you're going to have to squat.
2) bring travel baby wipes or hand sanitizer as there is no running water in the bathrooms
3) Bring gravol and Immodium you just never know and also tylenol or advil.
4) Bring a small travel tube of Aloe Vera as there is no Aloe plant there
But overall travelling to Cuba and to Breezes will be an experience you will never forget. I am planning my next holiday in Jan. to visit my friend at the resort.
IF anybody has any questions please do not hesitate to e-mail me. I'll be happy ot answer any questions.
Have a happy and safe trip!
Buena suerte!

We stayed at Breezes Jibacoa from October 30-Nov 15. We enjoyed our time a great deal, particularly the good location, service and food. We echo that the scooters rides are a "must - do". They are good value, good fun and a great learning opportunity. We bought the CD-R being flogged at the Bellamar Caves, of our Tour, and were pleasantly surprised at the value received for the $20. The trips to Havana and Varadero were fairly pricey. The "Swim with the Dolphins" was wonderful and more affordable than Mexico or Hawaii. Bring a waterproof camera or buy their photos (2 for $10) or a video ($30). If you get there for the first swim, before 11, there may be fewer in your group.
Unfortunatley the beach bar was still under construction. Our pool view room was noisy at times, especially 3-5 pm and during the evening show times - up til 11 pm. The transition to Convertible Pesos went smoothly. The hotel charges a 5% commission to change funds. The Internet was tempemental and an hour's time was quickly eaten up.
The disco could be quite loud and hard on the ears. Drinks at the piano bar still continue to be the best. We enjoyed James, the piano player, brought in from Canada, during our first week. Great fun.
Information and arrangements seemed to be fluid and could change unapologetically on a dime - double check the obvious.
We had to use the medical services unexpectedly and were pleased with the ease of accessing care. Given illness, the hotel graciously let us have a late check out.

We went to celebrate a 50th birthday. On his birthday, Deni found a ring while snorkelling in front of the resort. It had been there awhile as it was almost totally encrusted. There is engraving inside the band and anyone who can identify this ring we will gladly return it. The resort was fine but the golf package we purchased was a bad deal as there wasn't a bus as stated. The taxi cost $70 us and renting a car about the same. Also when we got there we discoveuured that one round of golf was comlimentary. I had purchased 3 but only used 2. The overnighter to Havana should be avoided as the hotel they put you in was horribly dirty and the food of lessor quality that Breezes. Havana was great. All said, we enjoyed ourselves and would return. fadadu@telus.net if you think it's your ring!!
