Travelled Sunwing, not bad.
This was our second time to this resort and we wondered if we would enjoy it and we were pleasantly surprised. The second time was great, we were remembered by alot of the staff, we also met up with people we actually met there last year including the royal entourage Queen Jibaboa Erica and Princess Cathy from Calgary, they've been 4 or 5 times.
We never get bored of the food, there is always so much variety, how can you possibly get bored. We also find the food very good. The chef is Jamacian.
Our rooms were very nice. Ocean view is really nice in this hotel. We love the staff, they are always friendly and we've always had excellent service.
People keep saying it's quiet and there is no partying, we partied 4 nights in a row till 3am the first week we were there. You make your own party people. We met a bunch of really nice kids from New Foundland and a great crew there on a wedding from Montreal and Calgary and also people from the UK.
This resort is also good for going on day trips as it is close to Havana which is definitely worth it. Scooter tour was fun too.
Snorkeling is the best in Cuba right there in front of you...enjoy.
We had a great 2 week vacation there last year and now this year and we would definitely go back again and would bring our whole family as we feel there was lots to do for everyone.

We stayed seven nights here and wished we had stayed longer. This was the second part of our two centre holiday (first part in Havana).
The hotel/resort is in a quiet secluded area, with forested hills at the front and the sea/beach at the back. The scenery is wonderful.
The food and service was excellent, the rooms were spacious and and tidy with air-con, which you need. There is enough activites to do such as beach games, talks on Cuba, hikes, dance lessons, Spanish lessons, etc and there is a games room.
I can't fault this resort and will most certainly be going back.
They don't accept children under 14 years of age and we only saw two just over this who were very well behaved. So this is a perfect place for adults to chill out.

We visited Breezes in mid may 08 for 10 days.
Firstly I just want to mention the flights which are nothing to do with the resort but Virgin just doesnt make it for us anymore. Their service is bad, flight uncomfortable and food terrible. Definately wont be flying with them again!!
Now for the resort.
We arrived at the resort approximately 4.30ish and checking in was simple and uncomplicated however as usual they say 'Welcome Drink' which makes us laugh as its only a drink from the bar that you are entitled to anyway being all inclusive.
The room was ok, not the best as lights didnt work properly and there were Ants all over the place and mozzies too. Curtains didnt always close properly. There is definately not enough drawer space and we had to leave some clothes in the suitcases. The bathroom was acceptable and always lots of hot water.
We opted for a sea view room which is laughable as the sea is only glimpsable through the trees and bushes. We had a fridge in our room which wasnt that cold but came stocked with still and fizzy water, cola and diet cola. We always drink fizzy but were only allowed 2 a day so we ended up drinking still which it seemed you were only allowed 1 a day ........very bizarre. There is a coffee maker in the room which took 50 minutes to make a pot of coffee which tasted disgusting. We asked for a kettle (see later part of review) but no joy.
The room is noisy at night because of the noise from the shows which are on every night. I wouldnt pay for a sea view again and would opt for a Garden view room instead.
The water in the resort (not from room taps) in the bars and restaurants is said to be drinkable. I drank it and yes I was ill one night and into the next day but dont know what it was. I put it down to a combination of heat, margharitas and rice that wasnt kept at the right temperature on the buffet. However I wasnt the only person that was ill and there was a concensus amongst some guests that there is something dodgy going on with the food !! The buffet restaurant serves basically the same food every day with the occasional change depending on the theme ie. italian, mexican, asian etc. There is usually a carvery meat which is hot and fresh. The lobsters on a Thursday night were tastless and tough not as expected. i was concerned about the amount of flies on the the food and also the birds flying over open salads etc. There was a pregnant girl there and I was so worried about her picking up campylobacter or listeria from Birds contamination. The 'al la carte' restaurants are italian and cuban. The Italian one is well airconditioned and you are given your own bottles of Spanish wine according to what and how much you want. The food is unimaginative and tastless but is well served and the staff are polite. The bruschettas were yummy and the desserts acceptable. The Cuban restaurant was dreadful with awful cuban wine and a menu which was pretty boring and tastless. On the beach there is the Beach Bar which serves burgers chips, chicken, fish, pizzas and hot dogs. Certainly a good place to eat and the burgers were fab.
The swimming pool is good, large and warm and is not deep anywhere. It can get noisy when the aquacise is on or there are a group of people playing volleyball but on the whole it is good. There are no time restrictions on the use of the pool and it was good to get in the water about 0630am for a quiet dip while the sun came up.
The beach is nothing special although of white sand it is very grainy and dirty with litter especially ciggy butts, leaves and flotsam. Although there is security it does get locals on it who sit by the waters edge and can be very noisy. One or two do ask you for Peso's which I found annoying but didnt report it for fear of what them might do to the poor people.
The staff are generally happy and polite however there is a definate lack of understanding English on the reception which beggars belief why they put them to work there. I asked if it was possible to have a kettle and after attempting charades and drawing one they still didnt get what i wanted. They told me to use the coffee maker to boil water but I couldnt get them to understand that it tasted of coffee and was not hot enough !!
Some staff were downright miserable and almost rude and whether this was their lack of understanding of English or just their lot in life I dont know but it was surprising how they changed when you gave them a tip.
Tipping ...................well theres another point...........not meant to it is forbidden however nearly everyone does it and the staff manage to build up quite alot of extra money this way. The resort has alot of canadians staying and like the americans they tip well so are more well liked than the brits. There is also a few Germans staying. The canadians on the whole were pleasant and chatty however some were in little clicks and were loud and demonstrative. Some were downright rude !! But then so were some Brits !!!
One member of staff gave us two bottles of rum to take home with us before we left which was a lovely gesture and wouldnt take a tip from us in return. They are genuinely nice people and really try hard to please you which makes you feel very valued.
The drinks from the bar were pretty dreadful, as the measures of spirit to cola or tonic etch were very small approx no more than a 25 cl measure. The wine in the bars and main restaurant is very acceptable being Argentinian and good glugging wine. The beers come in two types ..Crystal the lower strength lager and Buccenero the strong (5.4%) malty lager. The latter is better and certainly hits the spot. Mojitos are a favourite with the guests (White rum, mint, sugar and soda) but contains a good spoonful of sugar as do many of their cocktails and hence are no good for diabetics.
Check out was seamless and pick up ok except we were kept waiting for a singles group who had gone off to the beach bar for burgers etc to take with them. They also left some of their luggage in the reception and one then decided she wanted the toilet so we were late getting to the airport.
Do check in online in order to come back as you dont have to wait in the extensive queue to get to check in.

We stayed at the Breezes for a week, read several reviews on here and relatives had stayed at this property before. The rave reviews were spot on. The property was well maintained, very clean and most of all relaxing. This is a great place for couples, families with teenagers and as in our case a relaxing week for two very busy professional women. I would like to take my sisters to this place for a great getaway in the future.
Only thing, not enough beach volleyball but the pool made up for it as well as the tennis.
Will look forward to my return to the Breezes Jibacoa.
Thanks to Anya our lovely housekeeper as well for the adaptor and excellent service.

i went with a group of young singles to this hotel. although the surrondings were gorgeous and the food was loveley (lots of choice) we found that there was absoulutley no enjoyable entertainment! After dinner we would literally sit in the lobby or the games room chatting which is fine however after the first week can get a bit tedious!

If you are going to stay there would recomemend that you do some tours (i.e the boat trip, havana overnight stay)

Definately would not reccommend to young singles, but is anice hotel. just a shame that it is in the middle of nowhere!
